Exhentai has the largest collection, best uptime, a working bounty system, and serves as a hub-base for scanlators and scanners (like myself), even for SFW content.

Obviously fakku, nhentai, etc. are worse. Unless you dare to name the service you use, I can only assume, with the absolute lack of any evidence for your claim, that you are either trying to play elitism, and/or that the service you are using is a lesser one.

I use an FTP server for manga, and it works just fine. I also have a seedbox, so I can host FTP or torrent if I want 24/7.

Exhentai is still better, assuming you download the content, which is quite easy without any catches if you get the firefox plugins.

If an FTP server falls, its fucking gone online. However, after running a Hentai@Home client for awhile, I can tell you that there are several entire or nearly entire archives of Ex distributed around the world, which currently provide bandwidth for the site. Assuming it goes toast, I imagine tenbooru would only have to release the software source used to organize Hentai@Home, and the archive could be restored relatively easily.

Distributed systems may go against the simplicity-loving, individualist grain of otaku, but they are simply smarter for maintaining data in an uncertain ecosystem.

Then go to the e-hentai home page and log in, and only then try and go to sad panda.

If you still get the panda then yeah, you probably need more mod power.

Having to manually clone and restore data on multiple servers at regular intervals is NOT distributed.

I'm not saying that FTP is bad; it's a great way to quickly host some files, but it is certainly NOT a distributed system. Bittorrent and gnutella are distributed, Hentai@home is distributed.
