They're considered separate versions, so you won't get a Steam key. Not only that, but the versions run in separate engines, so patching them is basically impossible since the tools to do so aren't public.

Let's kick this off.

MG is the savior of all VNs.
Dovac is god's gift to us all.
Ixrec is the best translator ever.
There's nothing wrong with wildly inaccurate translations.

Just checked out Good Haro's twitter. Some posts about piracy sparked by the release of Amnesia. Also, funnily enough, some people think that MG is a fan translation group. I know the 7th Expansion fan patches they hosted didn't help with this notion, but I never knew that so many people thought that. Of course their site doesn't exactly look like it belongs to a professional company. Expanding their marketing efforts may help, especially once they start releasing more prominent games. It would probably help if they got news sites to do more articles on them, so that people know they're legit. They know which sites people frequent due to their survey, so that would be a great place to start.

The problem with that is a lot of sites just won't give them coverage since they do adult games, and the sites which do cover them are either small or just places people go to to see what to pirate next.

To those that don't follow twitter here's what she said:

>So, since everyone's freaking out about people pirating Amnesia, let's talk about piracy and visual novels!
>A lot of people like to cite specific dollars of hypothetical lost profit & you get the counter-arguments about piracy not being lost sales
>Honestly, I think all that's pretty beside the point. The bigger issue is really the way people value and interact with media now.
>Be it games, movies, tv shows, comics, books, whatever, a lot of people don't seem to ascribe much intrinsic value to these things
>And it's definitely not just because of how prevalent piracy is (I mean look how people interact with Steam)
>This kind of thing hits VNs and Japanese media (in the West) particularly hard because for a long time fan efforts were the only option
>"Why would I spend money on that when the fans would have given it to me for free?"
>Like I actually had someone tell me that NTY was too expensive compared to DMMd which "was free"—no, it wasn't free, you pirated it!
>Which is whatever but it's not exactly a fair price comparison!
>Piracy's so much the norm in our community that the thought that you even /could/ buy something doesn't even occur to a lot of people
>I guess you could say that's a failing on the part of localization companies' marketing efforts, but it's a very difficult notion to change
>Some people still think MG is producing fan patches
>Anyway, imo the real hurtful thing about piracy isn't so much the individual download numbers, it's the environment it creates
>People feel entitled to content and don't feel it has any value. Maybe that's just the way our culture is going in general, idk

(will continue on next post)

>> No.14015270

>Also I guess it doesn't help that people have some really skewed ideas of how big the market for this stuff is

>UtaPri might be selling 100k p. regularly but literally thing else is at least 10-100x less than that

>Why do I review crap? Simple: for pleasure. For the sheer joy of it. Every piece of crap you like is an immense world of delight waiting to be explored. Crap is a driving force, crap is inspirational: nothing urges me to set things right more than seeing them done wrong. I'm especially pleased when the crap is so bad it makes me angry — for anger is a pleasant sensation. To feel your bile rise and your blood boil, to feel a rush of fury — why, it's the pleasure of being alive, of feeling some actual emotion instead of the constant dull fuzz of the easily contented.

>Why should I deny myself such pleasures? You preach abstinence, but that's because you're a Puritan. When you look at criticism, you see only whines and complaints; you fail to see the joy. Energy is eternal delight (as they say where I come from), and to damn something with energy is a more joyous and thrilling act than to ignore it, or say "it's nice", or fob it off with other half-hearted compliments.

Good luck getting ahold of the fan TL team, since they haven't updated their blog since the Ayakashibito patch was released in April 2014. They're likely a dead group at this point.

In the case of Umineko, they already had the rights to the game, they just had to pay for the patchinko artwork, which was cheaper than the console artwork. I don't think the game is voiced either, which makes licensing alot lower, since voices can drive up the cost of a license significantly.

Their good writers left. Tokyo Babel is considered the last great Propeller game. Shadows of Pygmalion is OK, but is largely considered inferior to their previous works. Sougeki no Jaeger is a mess because it had multiple writers who didn't coordinate well.

These threads have become generals now and some retard doesn't realize that while they move quickly, they don't move so quickly that they can fill up in two days.

Some anonymous are really autistic about vnts not being allowed to be a general, but I don't mind it being one. That said, I really wish that guy would stop making them when it's only a day or two until the real thread though, because having two threads at the same time isn't really kosher to me.

So I started Majikoi S, rushed straight to Kokoro's route, and then just as it was getting good it suddenly has the confession, a heap of sex scenes, and ends. Then I do Margit's route and it's barely even ten minutes of content that isn't sex scenes, and is even shorter.

Anyone with a brain knows you're supposed to patch the game yourself if you want to avoid problems.

This might not be the correct place to ask this, but I've been wondering something while playing this game. Now bear with me, I know that this is a little far fetched, but it nags me a bit in a general manner.

Perhaps I'm just missing something, but is Kawakami City actually placed on top of a border (Tama River)? Is something like that even possible? You'd get a city under two jurisdiction. Their school (named after the city, so obviously also a part of it) is located in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area and to get there they need to cross the river, which is a border. What I mean is I'm expecting pretty acceptable quality from the people who do my manga translations, like Dowolf. I honestly don't have much to complain about in Majikoi's translation.

And I was agreeing with you. My complaint was directed to the jp mentality in general.

It's a really good song. I just listened to it again and came here and here we are talking about it again.

Holy shit...
I was playing through Koichoco with a pretty old patch (Common+Chisato only) and I got really mad and frustrated about how much emphasis it was putting on Chisato and not the other girls. I lost it when the first H scene appeared thinking this was all still in the common route. It was only after it that it occurred to me that this was actually her route and any choices to change the route had been removed.
That's me done for tonight I guess.

But that's how it's going to happen.

Yes, all other routes are locked until you finish Chisato's. Presumably because no one would play her route if they hadn't done that.

If it makes you feel any better, she gets BTFO in the other routes. Watching her break down into a sobbing mess is incredibly satisfying.
