Oatmeal porridge is nice when I've forgotten to get some meat and the freezer is empty.

But some of my expenses for food are probably caused by the fact that I have a slight tendency to buy some quality stuff instead of the discount shit.
When I do buy salmon (twice a month), I buy it fresh instead of frozen, I buy THE BEST rye bread you can get (in my opinion), ecological milk, etc.
The rest of the stuff I buy is pretty cheap and fine to eat, I think.

Okay here is my secret recipe for cheap, quick, relatively tasty and filling hot food recipe. STIR-FRY!

1 to 1-1/2 cups of plain white Chinese rice.
1 to 1-1/2 cups of water
Use a rice steamer, I find 35 minutes is good.
Wait until there is 20 minutes left on the rice, and start copping up 1 or 2 chicken breast fillets (get them super cheap in bulk boxes) into 2x2 inch cutlets or around that size.
4 or 5 diced mushrooms
Some diced green peppers and carrots if you feel like it.
Put all ingrediants into a regular sized pan or wok, which was heated at half heat and then mix in uniformly.
Take 1/2 or a full packet of stir-fry powder available at any grocey store. I perfer schezuan and hot flavours.
Add in a LITTLE bit of vegitable or olive oil -- this is optional but I found it adds consistency to the mix. Add some sugar if using schezuan for some extra sweetness, or tabascco sauce with a hot poweder mix for extra spiceyness!
Add about a 3/4 cups of hot water and stir the mixture.
Stir the powder and water mixture into the pan and then stir the contents in with the mixture.
Give it about 5 to 10 minutes depending on heat, consistency, and so on. The access water should evaporate off, and it's done when you have a failrly thick and heavy sauce -- you've waiting too long if turns into a paste, but it's still edible.
Add sauce to rice in a plate or a bowl, stir, and presto! Hot, tasty, fairly healthy and filling meal in 40 minutes if timed correctly!

19 right now, 20 in February. Been a NEET for 2-3 years, ever since I finished my A-levels. Never really had a proper job and I'm not really in a hurry to get one either. Still living with my parents and help pay for food/electricity etc. since they aren't exactly rich. Most of my money comes from government benefits or from odd jobs like installing stuff for my parents friends and such. Never really bought any figs/magazines/DVDs and probably never will since they just don't interest me. I don't smoke etc either so that saves a bit of money too. Even if I am a NEET I've still easily managed to save a few thousand pounds just for sitting at home and doing fuck all. I'm still able to get some decent stuff for myself too like a decent HDTV, up to date computer parts etc. Overall I think I'm living quite comfortably for a NEET especially when I see my old school friends completely in debt, struggling to find a job to pay for their rent etc.

I'm over 30, I've been working for about 10 years. In my years of experience I can say this is how you should do it:

Go get a job answering phones for a mega-corporation. Easy entry, shitty work, but it's way better than running the cash at a Walmart. Use your income to build up your entertainment center -- TV/projector, game consoles, powerful PC, etc. If you minimize food and living expenses, you will find this happening very quickly, just 2-3 months for a good setup. Then then spend the rest of your year working and saving everything. After the year is up, just quit and coast on your savings for 6 months or so before looking for th next job. Repeat the cyle, upgrading your system while working, and living it up in your off-work time.

Remember: you work to live, not the other way around. You don't need a BMW, a wife or a house. All you need is a big TV, hacked game consoles, a powerful PC and a fat internet connection. If you have all of those requirements met, the rest of the world can simply just fuck off.

Wasting your days means leaving no legacy, doing nothing for others--living a life that might as well have not existed from the perspective of everyone else.

The worst feeling in the world is, near the end of your life, to look back and realize that you've done absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Hey, I do that. Except I have to, due to contractual obligations; work a year, coast awhile.

Here's a small tip for the others-- Buy used for your electronic needs. I got an LCD TV for free by searching Craigslist... Doesn't handle 1080p or HDMI, but it's a nice 720p and it cost zero dollars because some numbnuts doesn't know how to plug things in properly and fried a power cord.

You can also make good money using your computer expertise to buy computers off craigslist, make minor upgrades and charge exhorbitantly for them, usually to families whose spoiled kids "Want a computer (for school)". Buy a tower, add an optical mouse, ergo keyboard, new OS (idiots LOVE Vista) and monitor, and you just moved from $300 in random computer junk to $500-600 computer system.

Another good thing to do is to buy in bulk from computer recyclers; they make excellent scrap computers to part out to upgrade your salable stuff, and you can usually pick them up for less than $50 each, assuming you buy a bunch, or you can just buy the components.

Hell there's been times where you can just camp crigslist, buy a laptop for cheap, add $100 to the price and sell it as-is, no changes. Lower profit margin, but WAY easier.

This really only works in big cities with a lively Craigslist though.

>> No.1391041

Well, I'm currently NEET since I haven't find a proper job yet.

Anyhow, a good way to make a little extra is to sell a little drugs among your circle of friends. It's relatively risk-free and you can make decent dough out of it with a next to no effort.

Even if eternity doesn't exist, that only puts a cap on how long you can be remembered before everything falls into oblivion. While I feel it's important to "Do things" for the sake of experience, doing it to be remembered is flawed motivation. You can do things for people every day of your life and they still may not remember you. You can have high adventure, romance, and intrigue, but that can't give you immortality. The best policy is merely being able to look back and say "I did the best I could, I'm glad I did it" without any reservation; frankly, if you're comfortable ticking the days away doing nothing, and can look back and say "Yeah, I'm glad I did it" then what more could you really want?

...IS ALL THAT I'M SAYING.
