Hmm, so the biggest change for me this patch seems to be with cooking. From the sounds of it each cooking item has a food quality upper limit? So I can't just use anything anymore to get the best foods if I have high enough cooking skill. The BBQ set is now needed for the best stuff. The change makes sense though.

Regular Elona was created by Noa and had a good run but he eventually stopped working on it but allowed other people to continue working on his game. From this point on various mods of Elona emerged with Elona+ being the most popular. Elona+, worked on by a Japanese person named Ano, has doubled the content of the original Elona game and updates Elona+ frequently. Elona might be dead but Elona+, which some may consider Elona's successor, seems to be thriving.

>>13811244
If you're going to play in 1.47 with a character in 1.46 you'll need to import your character. Make a backup of your save, download 1.47, and replace the save folder of 1.47 with your backup save folder. From there just load your character. This will update your 1.46 save to 1.47.

Currently playing a fairy pianist/wizard/petmaster and I just finished up my God with Opatos. My current party is a melee little girl, golden knight, and a young lady. I'm trying to decide which God to go for next. I'm doing a lot of farming so going for the cute fairy seems good. How is the Elona+ android? I know the vanilla one was subpar and I'm looking for a ranged pet to work with, so it'd be between cute fairy/android since I'm thinking I'll do Lulwy last so I can stay for the speed boost.
The Exile seems cool but does it start to scale into uselessness once I get into South Tyris where things resist magic dart?

I have an Exile, evolved as well, and I'm doing Lost Irva content. Exile mainly does dark element spells with a sprinkling of magic dart thrown in the mix. I haven't built her up as much as my little girl but I definitely see potential though. Currently, as long as I cast Nightmare for her, she does around 2-3k damage to one or more enemies(casts Eclipse I think which is a darkness ball spell). If I wanted to up her damage all I would need to do is raise her casting skill.

Awesome. I always wanted an android pet back when I used to play vanilla a few years back. I guess I'll worship Mani first and then work my way to Itzpalt.
Question, how many pets is too many to handle? I know the general consensus used to be that too many pets spreads your resources too thin and gives you a party of mediocre pets, does this still hold for Elona+? I've been managing to have all my pet skills hovering around 100%+ potential and most of the stats are in the "good" range.

Also which sprite sheet actually has all of the monsters? I'm running into a lot of squares using the 1.41f non-bobbledhead one. I could use the monster-girl one but I feel guilty pew pewing them with my panty.

Depends on where you are in the game. Early on it's hard to keep even a single pet up with you, later on it's more about how fast you want the individuals to develop.

>> No.13812233

When training my pets I train them one at a time so I usually only have one pet out. All for the reasons you have stated above.

However, when I go into challenging places such as the void or some awakened dungeons I'll bring out the whole party. Main reason why I'm training more than one pet is to challenge those two type of dungeons. I kinda see my pets as mobile weapon platforms and the more pets I have the more damage I'm doing in a single turn to everything.

That's good I'm only about level 30 so I don't know how early that is. I've been mostly farming and perfoming, with some dungeon diving and house guest slaying.
>>13812233
That makes sense. I'm finding my pets are keeping up general since I'm taking it slow. The pets have been getting all my farm gems so that probably helps. Once I recruit my next god pet I'll probably solo train it to let it catch up.

I'm going to pick up gene engineering next so I can nab some skill for my pets. What are good sources of stuff like pickpocketing, and the resource gathering/crafting skills if at all?

How do you manage equipment? I want to have a team of god pet but I am finding it difficult to provide them with adequate equipment with good skills.

>> No.13812632

>>13812594
It's very hard to manage equipment for all your pets and will probably be that way until you have access to Lost Irva. Just keep your eyes open for random artifacts in dungeons and in your safe at your shop. Give pets static artifacts that you don't use as well. Once you get to Lost Irva you can delve into artifact fusion which should help out a lot in gearing your pets.

For the god pets I usually just give them the god weapon rewards. Usually that will last them for a long time until something better comes along.

>> No.13812638

I'm currently just making do with whatever I pick up. Around level 30 and I'm currently just trying to hit okay amounts of DV/PV like around 30 on my armor and 15ish on the rest like boots or gloves and decent weapons. Gloves are easy to come by for me because my young lady constantly makes more. A lot of my gear is stolen off of adventurers that come visit or I bump into in the city. I'd say a lot of the gear is suboptimal at the moment.

What other crafting skills can pets get anyways? I currently only get gloves galore, would the other crafting skills net other types of gear?
Weapon wise I'm just giving the god pet their god weapon.

I actually tried playing a melee char for a few hours and I now realize why people keep on "muh shining wave" when it has really shit damage.

You basically get Shining Wave on a point where you deal 150-250 dmg in your regular attacks. It's a 2k-ish ranged damage for sapping away 1/6 of your stamina at that current playing time which could be nearly nullified by being a Kumiromi-slut so basically people get a lot of confidence from spamming it.

But what these people realize is that once you rely on Shining Wave, you become reeaaally shit. What you'll be doing later is relying on weapon invokes so wasting supposed-to-be-weapon-skill-trained attacks replaced by a Shining Wave is beyond foolish. But dungeon rushing at that early game for rushing your fame? It's what you should use.

Since you already know that resources are an issue, how about you raise your income first before you try or even think of raising pets? Ah, no. 100 or 200k gold per dungeon cleared just doesn't cut it and getting satisfied with 100% skill potentials for your pets is just wasting time.

Barely defeated Zeome, at 25% HP he was healing faster than me damaging him, and my pet delivered the killing blow only because she released her gauge attack.
It feels like I'm not progressing anymore: stats raise very slowly even when potential is at superb, still too weak to clear the quest rewarding you with the statue of Kumiromi, and I've done like 30 harvest quests without getting any herb seeds necessary to start an herb farm. Dungeon levels have skyrocketed, but I can manage to clear them somehow.

Is it better to restart over and don't rush things?

I don't see anything severely wrong with your character. Your stats are actually pretty good for your level. Having said that you entered South Tyris at a lower level than me. I was around lv 60ish when I arrived. Might want to get some levels to add to your HP and MP.

When you say dungeons have skyrocketed how bad are we talking? What's the dungeon danger levels? South Tyris is supposed to be harder so keep that in mind.

I don't think there is a need to start over unless you managed to severely make your dungeon danger levels out of synch with your actual power.

I knew that danger levels were also dictated by the main quest progress, but never expected to raise that quickly.
It was around 30~50 DL (never exceeded to defeat a lv50 boss) before Zeome and 60~110 after, this happening in both North and South Tyris. I was reluctant to continue, considering that defeating bosses at those levels would've meant increasing further the DL.

Ironically enough, I restarted and managed to find tons of herb seeds from my first party time quests.

Dungeon danger levels between 60-110 isn't too bad for you but the upper limit might be a bit higher than you would like. What has kept me safe is sticking to the dungeon danger level x2 your level rule.

So if your character level is like 20 you should be doing dungeons with a dungeon danger level of 40 or lower. Even if you can do a dungeon higher level than that don't. Level up your character, increase his/her stats, and increase his/her skills within your dungeon danger level safe bracket and then when you feel it's safe to move onto the next bracket do so.

Once you have your herb farms set up and access to the void you can stray a bit from the x2 rule but that rule should keep your characters, especially your early game characters, safe from dungeon danger level problems.

Yeah, since adding more body parts to pets one after another through gene engineering will stifle their speed exponentially(body becomes complicated SPD- 5%). That's probably the worst thing about gene engineering, though you could always just compensate with a bunch of really good ether speed rings or something.

But if you absolutely need to merge something like, for the sake of power leveling or a really good skill (i.e. cats for greater evasion) and don't want any added limbs you should take them to see either Icolle or Gavela. The body alterations they make on creatures wont allow them to carry over additional parts when spliced with your main pet.

people need to stop thinking of 'stats at x level' as some kind of performance metric.

now that there are no downsides to overlevelling, the correct way to think about levels is as another primary stat like Strength - one that gives extra HP and MP and bonuses to certain spells.

if you absolutely positively need to compare your progress to somebody else, playtime vs overall stats/spells is better, though still imperfect since some people leave the game on while doing other things.

Yes,and to increase your stat potentials you should start investing in the magic vendors you see in each town and in your house. Try getting their shop rank to at least 100 and when you do keep your eyes out for potions of potential. Buy them and get a stack of them. Then bless the stack with holy water, get a bottle of water and drop it on your god's alter in the truce grounds, and consume said potions. That should fix your stat potentials.

>>13834618
I agree with you to an extent that you should not avoid leveling but for me there is merit in paying attention to stats at x level as a performance metric.

Due to not completely understanding the game mechanics of the game you'll see characters that have 40-50 in each stat at lv 100 as opposed to someone who actually does know the mechanics and has stats nearing or a bit over 100 at lv 60. I would say the lv 60 guy is actually in a better position and stronger than the lv 100 guy. If you understand the mechanics of the game and you have stats that are appropriate for your level, such as the lv 60 guy, then you can apply another metric such as dungeon danger lv x2 your level and be safe knowing that you can do these dungeons with ease. The lv 100 guy earlier may have problems with dungeons that the lv 60 guy could do with ease and might have a hard time telling which dungeons he/she can do.

Magic elemental spells are nice to use as general damage dealers but some enemies have distinct weaknesses. For instance the undead are horribly weak against fire and fire bolt and fire ball do awesome damage against them. Use the right tool for the right job or in this case the right spell on the right enemy and you'll do well.

This.

I'll also add that later on in the game you should let your pets loot the gold off of your dungeon boss kills if you don't need the gold yourself.

In hindsight I think the 3 most important things for building up my little girl/valk were gold, herbs, and AP. I'm sure this would apply to any pet as well and I personally think any pet can be brought up to become a powerhouse.

My ally needed gold so she could train her stat and skill potentials. Herbs grew out her stats. Specifically, I preferred using Curarias but when supplies were short Stomafillias were used instead. Lastly, AP was used to get her speed up to a reasonable level and then herbs, raw shoes, speed uppers, and blessed Hermes potions carried her to 2000. Nothing amazing in how she farmed AP. She accompanies me in almost every dungeon I do and gets her AP from killing things.

After using AP to bring up her speed I made her learn learn the AP feats/traits charm and barrier. Had her learn tactical attack and dumped all future AP in bonus skill points. Used the bonus skill points and dumped them into tactics and two handed skills. This along with her just killing things and leveling them up naturally has lead to her having a damage multiplier over 100.

I suppose the hardest part of raising a pet/ally is acquiring the three things mentioned above. Herb farms will take time to set up and gold and AP acquisition may take time as well. However, once you have the means to access all three easily watch your ally/pet explode in power. They grow faster than your character.

>Let them get the ores

Are you trying to use the * (shift+8 for me) that isn't part of your number pad because that one doesn't work, it treats it as your 18 spell/action quick slot (hence the unassigned message). Use your platinum coins for raising the potential of your desired skills faster and spend your gold for food/weapons etc. Also avoid equipping/eating/drinking any cursed items you find while grinding. From everything I've read so far dual wield doesn't come come into its own until much later in the game. It is very dependent on the quality of your weapons(invokes, damage die, etc) and to get the most of it you should specialize in one weapon type to train to maximize your hit chance. On the other side of the fence, two hand is rather straight forward and is powerful right at the start of the game and throughout simply because the damage multipliers they can achieve is absolutely crazy. Mani's the best.
Lulwy's a cunt.
( Don't tell her i said that )

Mani used to be a mortal disciple of Lulwy. Lulwy loved him, and used her to become a god, betraying her trust in the process.

Becoming a god stripped him of all his memories, so far as he knows he did nothing wrong and can't understand why Lulwy is so pissed at him.
