Nineteen-seventy-one was the Year of Spaghetti.

In 1971, I cooked spaghetti to live, and lived to cook spaghetti. Steam rising from the pot was my pride and joy, tomato sauce bubbling up in the saucepan my one great hope in life.

I went to a cooking specialty store and bought a kitchen timer and a huge aluminum pot, big enough to bathe a German shepherd in, then went around to all the supermarkets that catered to foreigners, gathering an assortment of odd-sounding spices. I picked up a pasta cookbook at the bookstore, and bought tomatoes by the dozen. I purchased every brand of spaghetti I could lay my hands on, simmered every sauce known to man. Fine particles of garlic, onion, and olive oil swirled in the air, forming a harmonious cloud that penetrated every corner of my tiny apartment, permeating the floor and the ceiling and the walls, my clothes, my books, my records, my tennis racquet, my bundles of old letters. It was a fragrance one might have smelled on ancient Roman aqueducts.

This is a story from the Year of Spaghetti, 1971 A.D.

As a rule, I cooked spaghetti, and ate it, by myself. I was convinced that spaghetti was a dish best enjoyed alone. I can't really explain why I felt that way, but there it is.

I always drank tea with my spaghetti and ate a simple lettuce-and-cucumber salad. Id make sure I had plenty of both. I laid everything out neatly on the table and enjoyed a leisurely meal, glancing at the paper as I ate. From Sunday to Saturday, one Spaghetti Day followed another. And each new Sunday started a brand-new Spaghetti Week.

Every time I sat down to a plate of spaghetti (especially on a rainy afternoon) I had the distinct feeling that somebody was about to knock on my door. The person who I imagined was about to visit me was different each time. Sometimes it was a stranger, sometimes someone I knew. Once, it was a girl with slim legs whom I'd dated in high school, and once it was myself, from a few years back, come to pay a visit. Another time, it was William Holden, with Jennifer Jones on his arm.

>> No.13913774

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Spaghetti, is in fact, Manicotti, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Manicotti shaped pasta. Spaghetti is not the only pasta unto itself, but rather one component of a fully functioning system of pasta made unique by their shape, all of which comprising a full pasta library as defined by Italy.

Many birds cook a modified version of Spaghetti every day, called Manicotti, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of pasta widely used today is often called Spahgetti, and many of its cooks are not aware that it is basically Manicotti shaped pasta, developed by the Italians.

There really is Spaghetti, and these birds have cooked it, but it is just a part of the many types. Pasta is the kernal: foods made from an unleavened dough of flour and water or eggs and water, and sometimes a combination of egg and flour. The kernel is an essential part of a culinary system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a shape. Manicotti is normally used in combination with a tomato based pasta sauce: the whole system is basically Manicotti shaped pasta with tomato added, or Manicotti pasta. All the so-called Spaghetti cooks are really cooks of Manicotti pasta.

Hey humans,

My name is Japanese Bird, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day thinking of ways to cook up that terrible noodle known as ramen. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever made spaghetti? I mean, I guess it's fun cooking ramen for the billionth time because you don't have the courage nor power level to cook spaghetti, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than claiming udon is the best noodle in the world.

Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I've cooked spaghetti for many world leaders and mob bosses, and my spaghetti won best of show in the 238th World Spaghetti Show. What other noodles do you cook, other than that cheap ass cellophane noodle? Unlike you, girls throw themeselves at me, and I have a banging hot girlfriend (She just blew me; Shit was SO cash). You are all faggots who should just kill yourselves. Thanks for listening.

Dear OP,

It thought about the question of the ages while looking at the spaghetti
napolitain of the lunch. It is a question "Why is the napolitain red?". It
looks easy, and the problem with a deep interior.
It doesn't become an idea stop ..another.., and not exist excluding the
defeat of the intellect at all though arranges "It is red because it is red"
etc. and tautology and there is complacent superficial man, too either.
There is a phenomenon "Redshift". It is a phenomenon that the spectral line
changes red by the Doppler effect in the heavenly body that goes away from
the earth at high speed in space. In a word, if the napolitain goes away
from us at high speed even though what color, an original napolitain is sure
to look red glaring. Whether does the napolitain in the presence move at
high speed or not?It is understood from turning on the opposite side of the
napolitain. Blue one are sure to change, and to look blue the spectrum by
observing it from the opposite direction of the movement. When having turned
oppositely, the napolitain was red. Therefore, it can be said that this
napolitain will not high-speed move
