Let's talk about the island full of kitties. Has anyone ever visited there? What do you think of this island? Would you like to visit? Could you imagine being attacked by a sea of cute cats? Are you allowed to pick some and take them home?

What's the reason or motivation why they have so many cats over there? Was it intentional or did it happen naturally and they just don't have the heart to kill cats to limit the population?

>> No.13838007

>>13837920
>It has become known as "Cat Island" due to the large stray cat population that thrives as a result of the local belief that feeding cats will bring wealth and good fortune. The cat population is now larger than the human population on the island. (A 2009 article in Sankei News says that there are no pet dogs and it is basically prohibited to bring dogs onto the island.)

>There is a small cat shrine, known as Neko-jinja (猫神社?), in the middle of the island, roughly situated between the two villages. In the past, the islanders raised silkworms for silk, and cats were kept in order to keep the mouse population down (because mice are a natural predator of silkworms). Fixed-net fishing was popular on the island after the Edo Period and fishermen from other areas would come and stay on the island overnight. The cats would go to the inns where the fishermen were staying and beg for scraps. Over time, the fishermen developed a fondness for the cats and would observe the cats closely, interpreting their actions as predictions of the weather and fish patterns. One day, when the fishermen were collecting rocks to use with the fixed-nets, a stray rock fell and killed one of the cats. The fishermen, feeling sorry for the loss of the cat, buried it and enshrined it at this location on the island.

Cats are very hygienic animals. They dig a hole on the ground to dump their pee or poo. They constantly clean their bodies with their tongue (equivalent to bathing in humans).

I think it's the reason the Japanese love cats so much, not just in Cat Island. They share common traits. We all know how obsessed the Japanese are to cleanliness (except in scat porn).

Female cats tend to be more hygienic than males. Males tend to like to mark their territory. My grandparents have over 6 outdoor cats that like to come eat from food they leave out, and I'll admit that it doesn't smell great. It smells much much better than you would think, though. They still tend to pee out by places they like to stay, or near the front door.

"Ōkunoshima (大久野島?) is a small island located in the Inland Sea of Japan in the city of Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is accessible by ferry from Tadanoumi and Ōmishima. There are campsites, walking trails and places of historical interest on the island. It is often called Usagi Jima (うさぎ島?, "Rabbit Island") because of the numerous feral rabbits that roam the island; they are rather tame and will approach humans."

Sounds like a dirty and dangerous place I'd never set foot on. Cats are classy and civilized, but dogs are violent and shit and piss all over the place, eat any crap they find, form gangs, attack people and other animals. Dog island would be a hellish dumpster full of feral rabid dogs.

Cats are territorial as fuck and go crazy over that type of thing. With that being said, the island is essentially a giant cat colony, there probably aren't a lot of territory disputes because there's simply not space worth fighting for.
>dogs are violent and shit and piss all over the place, eat any crap they find, form gangs, attack people and other animal
Cats do all of that too.

Two cause that's the max my landlord will allow. One's a fat orange/white tabby with snaggle-teeth that inhales the treats we give him and loves to be pet but will fucking claw you if you try to move him when he's lying down. The others not as fat as the orange one and he's this lilac/cream/white colored tabby that's a total jackass who likes to attach himself to your ankles when you walk and is a whore for catnip.

I have a mixed breed my fuckwit brother picked up from the street because he was very young and "oooh the poor thing is sooo cute".
The fucking faggot obviously never actually took care of the cat and it grew attached to me as I prevented him from starving. To my surprise he grew large, beautiful and very loving, although extremely suspicious of anyone else probably because people must've treated him badly in the streets.

He's now a close friend that sleeps with me every day. Who would've guessed.
