Get a tripod for your camera. Thats a good start. Its also useful to put the mask on it .

Tripod, yeah. I use a GorillaPod cuz it's cheap and you can stick it most anywhere. Plus it's flexible, so you can do Dutch Angles like it's Battlefield Earth.

Also, pay attention to lighting; I dunno dick about photography, but I can tell you most kigs look best when the source is in front of you and you have as few shadows as possible on the face.

Get some means of processing pictures, too, like Photoshop; anything that lets you crop and adjust brightness and contrast and color balance and all that jazz.

Finally, you want a full-body mirror. Perch your camera on top and point it at you when you're standing in front of it. Good for practicing poses.

Take the above with a grain of salt cuz my pictures are pretty meh themselves, but then again they could be a lot worse.

I was there last week (Wonder Festival in Chiba) and the group of kigs in that pic seemed to have a pretty good time. They were less strict with their appearances though, and the guy with the dark red hair and the cute little hat had is mask off in public quite a few times without really caring too much.

No experience personally, but I've seen videos with that sort of thing, and it doesn't seem to be that uncommon.

I would imagine that all the regular risks apply, except that overheating is one of the more primary concerns. There might be a risk of damage to the mask, but otherwise, it should be fairly comparible to wearing zentai alone.

Of course, I might be talking out my ass here, but that is what I would suppose.

It probably would be more difficult to breath, yes. The overheating element piles onto that, and it might be best to take frequent breaks rather than a single, prolonged session.

Vacbeds are much worse in that while limiting air intake or otherwise cutting it off completely, they also put pressure on the chest, making it harder to breath. Not to mention that if you have another person looking out for you, it is somewhat harder to convey if you are in trouble. You could probably sneak a picture or two, but I would not recommend it for regular play.

Again, I might be talking out of my ass, but that is what I would be concerned about.

It's what happens whenever you vacuum pack anything. You are reducing the pressure on the inside of the bag by removing the air, and the pressure of the outside air is what compresses it. Your chest has to struggle against that pressure to expand and breathe, which would be bad enough if there wasn't also a limited air intake as well.

It's not like people participating in a meetup are in costume the whole time. They spend their time doing a photoshoot, and once it's over, they do what anybody does at a social meeting: eat food, play video games, watch movies, etc.

It's likely that not everybody involved in a meetup is in costume. You still need people to handle the cameras, and I imagine it's not easy to take a decent photo while wearing a mask that obscures your vision.
