Almost there

Yes. I did them earlier today for once.

>> No.13662940

I stopped about 2 years ago. Which is about 2 weeks after I started.

>> No.13662957

I started again this year. This time I'm keeping the daily news low to be realistic about my motivation. I'm also spending time with each one drawing the characters in my mind and making sure I can recall their forms. Because last time, I was impatient blazing through and only knew how to recognize words when I saw them. It was a stupid situation.

No motivation. The world needs more books with cute characters.

I would have thought learning japanese is popular on /jp/. Do people just not use anki, or why is this thread dead?

>> No.13669315

I use anki, but I'm having trouble writing characters with higher stroke counts. I wish there was some way to get pass that without manually writing shit down, because my handwriting is fucking awful

I have an anki kanji deck and another packed with sentences, but they're both fucking shit quality and i end up getting frustrated and suspending or outright deleting some of the cards.

What are the essential/best decks I should be using?

I use the core 2k vocabulary and the vocab deck for whatever JLPT level I'm on. There's also this really nice onomatopoeia deck with cute illustrations showing the meaning.

Pretty sad how low my retention rate is. This is probably my third time trying to learn Japanese over the last 3 years and I keep giving up and then restarting. I've been on the grind for a few months with this deck now doing 25+ new words EVERY day without skipping a beat, however I don't feel like I'm remembering even close to how many I should be, so once I hit 5000 words I'm going to stop adding new words until I have completely mastered the first 5000. The one thing I refuse to do anymore is skip a day. No matter how tired I am or how early I have to wake up the next morning, I do the reviews. It is too easy to get swamped by reviews if you miss even a single day and never be able to catch up again.

Have you tried audio, cds? for when your driving or just doing in between anything where you can listen to audio in the background?

>> No.13675057

>>13675029
No but it's a good idea so I'll look into it, my listening comprehension is especially abysmal (not to mention grammar in general) so that would probably help me a lot there.

>> No.13675095

tbh i question how useful the flashcards are. I dont question that its nessicary and useful, but it only gets you so far. yes, indeed you can learn the word, but for more abstract things you really need context.

things like "rank序列, expression 表現, accumulate 築く, etc.

the definitions given aren't precise enough, you really need context.

even then seeing kanji in practice sometimes you don't recognize it even though you've done the flashcard. Again, i think either im retarded or its the lack of context.

>> No.13675714

Is there any database of RTK kanji primitive breakdowns?

Since there aren't any decks that include them.

>> No.13676359

>>13675095
I don't think doing flashcards really counts as learning the word, it's more like preemptively looking them up, so reading doesn't feel like such a slog. You still have to see them in context a few times in order to actually learn them.

For some bizarre reason, corePlus appears not only gone from Anki shared decks, but apparently the internet as well. Can someone please upload the .apkg? Thanks.

>> No.13680505

Oh, also I figure I'll explain what I know if the situation. I guess whoever owned the content of those decks became unable to distribute it freely or something. So they sent out a bunch of C&Ds to Anki regarding the decks.

For sake of transparency, I'll admit I'm a paranoid weirdo when it comes to this copyright bullshit and probably wouldn't be willing to upload it myself.
