I was able to find a few images in the archives with translations, but I only have the thumbnails to go with them. If anyone has a yukkuri collection of untranslated images, /r/ing a megaupload of images from before July. I have the time to sort through them to find the images with translations, and about 10 other images I have thumbnails for, but the full image isn't in the original compilation and doesn't get reposted.

The last story in Yu 113 was of the Yukkureimu that killed its children and got sentenced to death. It ends with the mother and an Alice-type melting in the rain.

Actually, at this point I prefer the cute ones over the violent images, simply because they don't contradict themselves over and over.

However, I most certainly would not want one as a pet. Annoying, selfish, actually capable of talking (this is not a quality you want in a pet), eats too much, etc. But a bunch of fools (or trolls, not sure which) think 'OMG CUTE I WANNA TAKE ONE HOME'. I'll go counter-clockwise starting with the title.

Top left title: Yukkuri's Nest Hole
Just below that: Nests are often built at the foot of apple trees and other fruit-bearing trees on the face of a mountain.
Below that: The entrance is carefully hidden with tree branches and leaves.
Below that: The entrance using the crotch of the tree root is rather narrow, and even if a Remirya were to attempt to enter the wings will get caught and will be counterattacked instead.
Below: "Uuu-!"

Bottom: Tree branches and straw are laid and packed down. In addition, during winter compost/humus is laid down, and using the compost heat it becomes quite warm.
Lower right: Raw trash hole. Is used as compost/humus.
Upper right: Storage area for food. In order to prevent flooding, is dug upwards.
Top right: Branches and leaves are stuck beteen the roots to provide heat insulation and waterproofing.

Anon had finished toiling in his small feild, like he had every day. Grueling work, but it sure paid off when harvest season rolled around. His field was nearly ripe, he was growing sweet potatos. He had recived them as a gift from a goddess whom resided on the Youkai hill. She assured him that they would be the best sweet potatoes in the land, and he believed her. After removing the bulk of his work clothes, Anon heard a commotion outside. At first he paid it no mind, but then, he head the dreaded sounds every farmer fears.

"Yuu! Buried treasure yuu! We can take it easy a long time with this much food!"
"Stupid humans! Leaving all this good food buried!"

Without missing a beat, Anon grabbed a weeding hoe, and rushed outside. But the damage had already been done...his field was completely ruined, almost all the good sweet potatoes were ripped from their resting place. The ones that hadn't grown very large, were simply thrown aside. While Anon was usually indifferent to the injustices people brought against him, this was different. A bunch of THINGS had ruined his hard work. He would have killed the bastard who had torn up his feild quickly, had it been a human. But a rather large group of Yukkuri, some edible talking heads had made his life a whole lot harder. Anon clutched the weeding hoe, his grip cracking the old wood...and then he saw it. A baby Yukkurisa who had stumbled in a hole. It was tiny, no bigger than a cherry. It wailed and cried for its mother. Truely dispicable creatures. But, Anon would have his revenge, and it would take the form of this Yukkurisa. The stupid little thing finally noticed Anon.

"STOP IT! WORTHLESS LITTLE PEICE OF CRAP!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, saliva flying out of his mouth, all over the Yukkurisa. "SAY ANOTHER WORD, AND I'LL MAKE IT SO YOU CAN NEVER TAKE IT EASY AGAIN! I AM YOUR GOD NOW!" Anon released his grip on its mouth. It bit Anon's finger. His patience had run thin. He squeezed the thing almost causing it to burst. He walked back into his house, the thing wailing, begging for him not to crush it to death. Anon grabbed a small knife, and threw it against a table. It was far too high for the yukkuri to jump off of. It helplessly bounced around the edge of the table, looking for a way to escape. Anon pinned the thing down with his index finger.

"No! Pweaje! Nwoooooooooo!" It screamed, as began cutting into the front region. He heard from a crazed scientist that Yukkuri had cocks too. So he cut into it, and began probing. Among the cries of pain and gushing paste, he found a phyllac growth. Without hesitating, he cut it off. "AAAAAAAAUG! MAWIZAZ BEE BEE! WHY ! I CAN'D TAJEAJY!" It wailed. released the pressure, and the small thing simply sat there, shivering.

"I am your god." He repeated.

This artist seems to be doing a bunch of evolutionary yukkuri stuff. The 'false fruit' (pic) was also done by him.
Traditionally, they will form societies. Living in caves or holes in the ground seems to be the most common. Excluding a story where they built a house (and we are asked to not ask how), this is the only instance I've seen of them actually building anything. And, of course, they will try to take over any home they come across. I think that most will just live out on the grass/forest/whatever... although I have no idea what they do about rain

They`d probably find anything to use as cover from the rain.

For forest situations, under or in trees, underground, in caves, or maybe build makeshift "roof`" shelters if they can work fast enough.

If they're in a clearing: find/dig a hole and cover, locate an overhanging rock formation that has the clearance for them to squeeze into, or perhaps luck out and find an object that a human/youkai left behind such as an umbrella, bowl, or hat.

Whatever: In this situation, they'd probably just commandeer somebody's home and claim it in the name of Spain... I mean Yukkuri. Commence Bad End.

I did see one comic where a Yukkurisa told it's two koyukkurisas to get under it's hat when it started raining, hoping it would be a light rain. In the end, the rain poured on and the yukkuri were all disfigured and dissolved by the last frame. I'm guessing adult yukkuri can last a bit longer then ko's in rain, maybe even enough to face light to medium-light rain if it recuperated soon after the later. The ko's in the comic pretty much melted the moment after the adults hat began wilting to the point it was sagging extremely, so they're goners if the rain gets going and they have nothing.

(Although I've also seen a picture where a Marisa/Remiu pair are letting there ko's play in a very (not even enough to soak 1/3 of the ko's bodies) shallow tin of water while the 'risa spat a stream of water onto one of them. They all seemed to be having fun and not having any troubles. I'm not sure if this has any groundings in yukkuri.)

Anyone know what happened if you put a manju in water? For yukkuri, I've heard that ~10 minutes submerged in water is fine, after about that time they'll start to absorb too much water causing them to swell up and fall apart more easily, or to just completely disperse.

I don't think a forest would provide great cover from the rain. of course, I've never been in a forest when it was raining hard so I don't know for sure. But the ones with no trees for cover and no home of any sort would be in deep shit. If it starts raining, I don't think they'd have the time to build or dig anything to save themselves; plus digging a hole would just cause water to pool, which is just as bad.

Commandeering a house would of course be just as fatal as the rain. While it may seem like a good idea to the yukkuri, it really won't do much for their chances of survival. And this just begs the question "Do yukkuri lose about 80% of their total population every hard rain, or what?"

That's close to the pic I'm thinking about, but not quite.

It depends on the forest, really. How many trees, what kind they are, and how well they cover the ground with their branches and leaves all play a part. It's safe to say if the forest is comparatively young when looked at against other forests, the trees probably aren't big or dense enough to stop all the rain. However, if you saddle up against one of the bigger trees, you could probably stay drier then just out in the open. Just watch out for lightning or you're screwed.

Digging a hole might not be as bad of an idea as you'd think. It's all about how well they dig and how they cover the hole. If they start channeling the spirit of a legendary mole and dig in ways that only unnaturally directed water can force them out of the tunnel lest they die trying, they have a shot. It's not likely, but it's better then just dissolving.

They do seem to have a little bit of survival sense: find shelter, find food, procreate like fucking crazy, take it easy. It might not be out of their reach to survive that way.

The reason someone decided to draw that shit was just because someone felt like crushing, pulling, maiming, stabbing, etc, a yukkuri's genitals. You can't do that if they don't have genitals, but with yukkuri, you can just take any idea and change the yukkuri to work with it. That's the only reason they have these goddamn things. It is not to try to make their reproduction make more sense (it makes less sense to me, AND contradicts earlier stuff). They just wanted to smash their genitals. Nothing more.

the yukkuri's peni peni is a giant penis. So far there has been no report of testicals, or any other human sexual organ. In addition, due to the yukkuri's regenerative abilities, it can grow it back. This is certainly not something you'd see in any definition of castration, but I don't think it applies if you grow back the removed organs.
