This was a case where there was a bit of hasty translation. The text is actually a modified haiku, the original being いつまでも / あると思うな / 親と金 (lit. "Don't think they'll always be around: parents and money"). The context is that it's getting dark and Reimu changes it to "parents and daylight". The haiku is just generally about the transient nature of things, so the line has zero significance towards Reimu's parents. The thing is that the haiku reference was never acknowledged at first (the current version does; please don't take 0.5 translations as total fact), and how it was translated made it sound like a really poignant comment on her parents and people have run away with that flawed interpretation. If you see this mentioned elsewhere, please take care to correct it.

No, beating up youkai is something every Hakurei shrine maiden does. Mima reveals that Reimu is blood-related to the Hakurei too so none of that ''oh shes totes not blood related because Aya one time said that there's an emergency procedure in case Reimu dies without a heir'' that people keep spouting.

The blood is also where her power comes from cause it sure as FUCK not from her god, the one that barely even exists.

The idea that Hakurei Miko are all adopted orphans makes perfect sense. It means that the Miko are free from filial obligations and family loyalties in a society that is still heavily Confucian.

The stuff in PCB's prologue is on slightly shaky canonical ground just because it was very early in the imagining of Gensokyo (the earliest point, really). Saying that Reimu is at a particular spot in her lineage is probably not appropriate to claim; it's hard to say how much thought was put into it when it's never alluded to again.
