Hueg Hands edition

Steam version is out, go get it!

We now have a github for the Voice & Sprites patch:
https://github.com/higurashi-mod/scripts

Get your ps3 sprites here:

And your voices here:

I was under the impression that the voice patch was still incomplete?

>> No.13524179

>>13524155
Basically, yeah.

The original anon who made it used a script to tag the voices to the steam version.
Not all the voices got tagged because the ps3 version is slightly different.
The github project fixes that, along with merging the voice patch with the ps3 background edits (which are incompatible without patching them).

>Have all ps3 sprites/CGs/backgrounds been sorted out

Done ages ago. Already merged with voice patch.
What this patch did is add in ps3 sprites (no patch neeed), ps3 backgrounds (no patch needed), and added in scenes such as Rena punching and afternoon/night variations of background (patch needed).
Since the latter had scripts, it conflicted with the voice patch.

>At what stage is the project currently?
Out of the 16 chapters or so, 5 are done (1-4, and last chapter).

Just finished onik_015_02.txt. Also added a new readme in the github scripts/Update folder.

Anyway, there's no way to make the engine play two sound files at the same time, right? Should I use my DAW to mix the sounds? I tried loading two sounds at once (here https://github.com/higurashi-mod/scripts/tree/master/Update)) but the engine will only play the first sound. Isn't that a big problem if we're dealing with scenes with both voice and sound effects?

>> No.13524876

>>13524803
Add sounds to different layer (or whatever you want to call it) and they should, it's the first number, 3 in your case.

Also next time you do this patch, and you should probably check whether it causes problems here too, add voices to different layer than original sound effects. Because if they overlap, they cancel each other out, as you mentioned.

And for anyone interested, that 128 number is volume. In my opinion, setting it to something like 300 is just right to be heard over sound effects and bgm at default in game settings.

>> No.13524937

I'll default to a different channel than the regular sound effects when I create the initial patches for future games, yeah. This one was a pretty quick hackjob, and I didn't bother to experiment to figure out what the different parameters did.

>>13524955
In this case I think it's a better choice to let the voices in 128 and then tone down the volume of the effects.

'In the 3rd chapter, Tatarigoroshi, Satoko had a nude sprite that was displayed. Our release on Steam will feature the towel version of that same sprite instead due to Valve's regulations, but fans will be able to mod the original one back in after its released.
This is the sprite we'll be using in place of the completely nude one:'

There is actually an app for that (VNDS Interpreter), and there are conversors for playing both higurashi and umineko (among other VNs) on android devices.
I actually read the majority of the tweaked PS3 umineko version on my android tablet.

Seems like the creator dissappeared years ago, though, so there is no maintenance or bug fixes.

So can I continue the graphic mod or do you intend to do any more ? There are still a few stuff I wanted to add/fix.

Besides, how do you think we should handle the console exclusive scenes ? As I said before, added the one that replaced the Kei dick discussion, which got translated by Baratomaya back then. Also have 2 others scenes translated I can add to the script, both being in the first and second days.

I guess the best way things could end would be replacing all the scenes that has got console exclusives choices, which would lead to Taraiwashi. of course, a translator would be needed for that, maybe I should ask Baratomaya again if he's still interested to continue.

Though on the side note, nothing to rush. Taraiwashi should be read after Tatarigoroshi.

And if anyone doesn't know about Taraiwashi :
http://whentheycry.wikia.com/wiki/Taraimawashi-hen
And a lengthy summary of it :
http://isae-amane.tumblr.com/post/111465777963/taraimawashi-hen-summary
It's pretty much an arc you get if you choose to ignore the secrets of the village. It begins at the second part of the Watanagashi festival, but plenty of scenes of the first part of Onikakushi would get replaced by exclusive scenes you get with choices.

On the side note, the other exclusive arc, Tsukiotoshi, is exactly the same as Tararigoroshi until the chapter where you meet Oishi, then you a choice, and if you decided to "go look for Shion", the arc begins. So no exclusive scenes for the chapters prior this part.

Just experienced this as well.

That error is caused by a missing } at the bottom of the onik_003.txt file. Just add the } character to the last line of the file.

Also, on line 35 there is an error that will cause the game to hang. The line reads
PlaySE(3, "S19/01/HR_KEI02900", 256, 64);putLineAll(NULL, "\n", Line_ContinueAfterTyping);

Change it to two lines
PlaySE(3, "S19/01/HR_KEI02900", 256, 64);
OutputLineAll(NULL, "\n", Line_ContinueAfterTyping);

That has allowed me to get the script compiling and working (I've only just started chapter 3, so I don't know if that fixes the whole chapter).

In addition on line 50 there appears to be an accident. Though leaving it alone did not cause any crashes.

No. No assumption involved. A line is objectively missing. You're the only one here too stupid to grasp what was being said. I'm looking at the diff right now. The reason the lines are out of sync is because the patch script is missing "OutputLine(NULL, "………あれ?",
NULL, " ...Oh?", Line_WaitForInput);
OutputLine(NULL, " 圭一くんと梨花ちゃんは…なんでスタートしないんだろ? しないんだろ?」",
NULL, " Why aren't Keiichi-kun and Rika-chan starting? Why not?\"", Line_WaitForInput);
OutputLineAll(NULL, "\n", Line_ContinueAfterTyping);".

This was indicated in my original screenshot in that the lines matches at "//………あれ@ 圭一くんと梨花ちゃんは…なんでスタートしないんだろ? しないんだろ?@, "but then suddenly becomes out of sync after.

No assumption. Fact. A line is objectively missing. The text of the line that is missing exists nowhere in the patched file as dialogue. Ironically the only one who was assuming anything was you by suggesting that lines were fused when this isn't the case as the literal dialogue is missing from the entire file. So now you're both projecting and wrong. Cute. Go take your loss like a man and walk it off while you learn to think before you speak next time.

If you are into git stuff, you should clone the repository to keep up with the changes. I think you can clone it fine inside your Higurashi folder.
Or you can download the master file: https://github.com/higurashi-mod/scripts/archive/master.zip

Going to sleep now. If new shit happens, someone will need to merge the pull requests or commit new changes. I'm seriously not understanding what happened in such a little time (those scripts affected weren't mine).

Also please let's not turn this into some shit argument. Shit happens, so we fix what's wrong and that's it. If you have time to fight about some lines, you have time to send a pull request and fix what is wrong.

The reason why the translations are off is because either the original voice patch or Gura's patch were on a older version.
The base I used was either 1.01 or 1.02.

Secondly, I have no idea what happened to onik_003 there, the original version of it I made was fine.
It seems like a batch edit I made to files regarding the sound volumes and layers fucked that beginning part over.

Regarding onik_009, it seems like whatever was missing, was missing in my base version so it must've been added in a patch.
I'll take a look at that now...

>> No.13541844

>>13541823
So, can I just copy translation from original scripts to voice patch ones when they are different? And keep doing pull reqs for that? They are not different on purpose is what I'm asking.

Also, I already fixed onik_009, so don't worry about that.

>> No.13541851

>>13541844
>They are not different on purpose is what I'm asking.

Yeah, they're not.
I mostly ignored the updates that made mostly because I noticed they kept on making patches and would rather wait for a more definitive translation.
1.05 should be safe to merge in.

>> No.13541930

onik_009 seems to be fine now, though I added in a clearmessage to one part since it was off a little bit.

'll take a look at the translation fixed in update 1.05... I might be able to automatically add them in.

>> No.13542029

>>13541930
Well, it doesn't help that their changelog doesn't really specify what typos they fixed.
It seems in 1.03, they fixed the festival mix match, which is why onik_009 was off.

I'll probably have to use my original set of scripts to see what exactly they changed...

They recompile themselves each time a script file is changed.
I guess it's a way of keeping the game stable in case a txt file update has an error.

Except if I understood that wrong, it doesn't, a 16:9 file will be deformed to fit the 4:3 ratio.

He asked why the backgrounds and CGs aren't in 1920x1080 like in the Umineko games.

>>13548037
I don't know, but Higurashi Sui max size is 720p. Yeah, it's weird considering Umineko did have 1080p, besides the fact the sprites are fucking huge.

Ans since I'm at it, testing the render of those with the Mion sprite Anon posted before.

Nah, they're 1280x720. They just have a few bigger ones here and there.

Oh. Now that I think about it, each swimsuit sprite had some kind of animation where we got to see the whole of them zoomed, makes sense. Can you post a normal sprite ? Like the basic expression of School sprite Mion ?

I don't know how the PS3 music differs from the original, but I think Kai's OST is perfect as it is.

Thanks. Yeah, that sure isn't as big as the swimsuit pic.

Kai's OST is intact in PS3.

Time for a new thread, right? If someone's going to make it, link the repository to https://github.com/higurashi-mod/onikakushi.. I'm going to change the name.

>> No.13548189

Gura, will you also be adding Tomita and Okamura sprites and other characters?

>> No.13548672

Will the sprite edits be in v.1.04? Thanks for all the work you're doing!

>> No.13548785

>>13548672
Sprite edits are unrelated to the voice patch. I will push a new version later, but that's to fix case-sensitive words. Completely optional for Windows users.

>> No.13548801

Ok, I really need to sleep. When you guys think it's time to make a new thread, instead of linking to github.com/higurashi-mod/onikakushi, just link to the organization: github.com/higurashi-mod

This way we avoid 404 errors because I didn't change the repository name in time.
