College eroge could be cool. Although nowadays you have that nondescript "gakuen" setting a lot. I guess a proper college game would need characters that explicitly act like college students, not just stated college setting.

I keep hearing about VNs with so-called "kanji puzzles". What are those (the novels)? What are the puzzles like, does it mostly require knowing the radicals and some etymology fluff?

Why the hell everyone is complaining about this month? For me it seems pretty great: First of all I'll absolutely try Pure x Connect, It has at least 8 different clothes and 3-4 different hair styles for each heroine and its from smee so most likely it will be fun as well, what can you expect more from a moege.

Other than this There's a new cosmic cute game, since their both of old games were great I'm expecting same quality from this as well. + New Axl game, New lump of sugar game. Also I think I'll add Natsuiro Recipe & Mousou Complete to my backlog as well so I'm waiting for almost everything at this month. Well at least half of them will be shit I know, But I think those titles are worth of a try.

Currently playing Fureraba and really enjoying it, its pretty fun and the choice thing also refreshing. I think they're a little too random but I guess when I get enough love point they'll be about love focused topics, which is great.

Also I like almost every heroines, Himari seems boring but other three are great. I had a hard time at choosing the first route.

Just finished Asuka's route in Aokana.
Actually really enjoyed the FC matches, shounen sports/battle isn't my cup of tea but I feel they were done very well.
Heaps of CG's for pretty much every manouver and the sport in itself just seems cool as fuck.
Wasn't that taken with Asuka as a heroine but the great battles made her route great for me none the less.
Final battle was pretty nonsensical, but still brilliant.

Maybe shouldn't have read it first though, I'm pretty sure I've now seen the best Aokana has to offer. Almost don't feel like bothering with the rest now.

I think the industry norm for most VNs to be fully voiced (except the protag) has given people such a false impression. Even if companies mainly hire new faces for voice acting, it's still a major component of the production costs. In the past, Alicesoft didn't include full voice acting since it doesn't justify the extra costs: they already has an established customer base and it's not like adding new voices are going to significantly expand their sales.
It's a different story with the Rance 03 remake though, since they can capture new buyers from the OVA viewership, so it makes sense for them advertise the game with voice-acting. It's just business decisions at the end of the day.

Not a troll question, but how do you finish eroge? A lot of the time the prologue hooks me but then I get to the common route where nothing seems to happen or the plot loses its direction. I mean, you can read for 20 hours with nothing fun or interesting happening. A lot of the time you get forced into scenes with characters you don't care about. I really want to enjoy eroge but sometimes the pacing is so off after a while I don't even care about the characters anymore.
