Yes, killing big daddy harms the number of little sisters that show up.

It caps after you kill 10, at which point their chance to spawn is <3%. Base is 6.6%.

Code snippet:

var_1501 = limit(15 + var_64(810) * 2, 15, 35)
if ( var_127(7) == 1 ) {
if ( rnd(var_1501) == 0 ) {
flt
var_929 = limit(var_64(22), 30, 300)
var_1266 = 1
characreate -1, 318, -3, 0
}
}

var_127(7) == 1 checks to see if you're in a valid area (dungeon). var_64(810) is how many little sister's you've killed. 318 is the internal ID for Big Daddy. The rest should be self-explanatory.

It's not Deus Ex Manina's stats or health that scare me. It's the skill levels and the fact that he's using an inner god weapon. Considering this was my entire goal I really shouldn't have picked fairy. I might pick up barrier specifically to make sure I don't get one shot.

So I'm testing out Barrier as a 100% spell caster. Never shot my ranged weapon and only killed snails and putits by accident with melee. So an empty mana bar means I'm pretty screwed.

At 30,000 health and 80,000 mp, I'll say it's still a bit risky. You drain your mana pretty quickly in high level awakened dungeons, but you're also completely invincible for quite some time. I'd definitely recommend trying it out. You'll want to get your magic device up for more mana from rods though.

I feel like it would be garbage early on, but once you hit a certain point it definitely takes the edge off having a low health pool.

Just for anyone thinking of trying it.

>>13500285
That's a lot of dungeons. I spend a lot of time just grinding my spell levels and what not but I didn't realize it was that big a difference.

I'm kind of cheating on the spell levels. Once a potential is high enough I just hold the button down either with my finger, or recently my wallet, while reading berserk or cooking food. Just rotate like that.

Little update on barrier.
Ok nevermind, it's amazing. I still feel like early on it would be a liability, but once you get enough MP it's incredible.

I'm in a level 850ish awakened right now. Something I wouldn't be able to dream of doing before I got barrier. It makes you so incredibly tanky. This is also one of the most ridiculous floors I've been on in any dungeon, regardless of level. There's a good 2 rooms entirely full of poison hounds (my lowest resistance). Endless skeletons and shine ogres too. I'm convinced I either got every room to be one of those swarmy rooms, or there are a bunch of summoner mobs hiding out of view.

Regardless of that though barrier is letting me keep going. It's a struggle and I've had to make myself a little home base here to recover mana, but it's making it possible. I definitely recommend any mages who haven't tried it, or maybe did early and decided they didn't like it, to try it once they get enough mana to have excess by the end of the floor. It's great.

>> No.13503159

>>13503129
Nice, thanks for the update on barrier. It's good to have some information on how it handles later on in the game. So once you have mana to burn it becomes a useful trait to have. I'll make note of that.

>> No.13503225

>>13503159
No problem.
It does still have drawbacks, but they're pretty easy to mitigate. When I first got it I got really over confident and let my MP drain too far. Some liching to recover mana is helpful. I'd also recommend devoting most of your skill points to magic devise for rods of mana. I've put my last 1000 or so toward swimming, and although it's a nice speed boost I think they would have been better put to magic device. Oh well.

I just can't wait to see how tanky this makes me once I get Frisia's tail. Just 140 levels to go now. Though maybe I could beat her instead of using an astral light pen? Either way I can't cast wish again for a bit, might as well wait.

>> No.13503280

>>13503225
Yeah I'll probably look into raising magic device as well. For now I have a technique that's like a cheap man's version of a mana rod. Honestly though, I do hesitate to recommend it now that I know more about pets. You're going to have much better luck raising one from very low levels. If you could evolve a young boar from puppy cave, that would be a different story.

Destroy Boar is amazing as a temporary pet though. Just with the AP system and all that, since you get it so late it's not really permanent pet material. Its main strengths are that it comes with crazy stats, shadow step, and charge. You can add all those to another pet that has other abilities too. Also if you're a mage with magic storm or have a mage pet, it's going to interrupt the boar's charge constantly.

I wish I could recommend some starter pets but I've never raised one from the start, at least not properly.

>>13503818
The golems are pretty neat. I like the idea of crafting them too. I just think it's a bit odd that you need to already be established before you can craft them. I mean obviously you can make them catch up to you, but it seems counter intuitive.

Sorry, I completely forgot I was supposed to post this. Alright, so here's the details on little sister corpses.

When eating a corpse, this check is done. I'll use Life in the example here, but the same check is true for mana.

rnd(BaseLife * BaseLife + 1) < 2000)

(rnd is a random number between 0 and the number in parenthesis-1)

If that check passes, you gain a point of Life (and then the check is done again for mana). You can see how the chance of a life/mana up drops hard as your base values increase.

For the skills, it's a flat 1-10% increase to all of their potential (random for each stat).

modgrowth var_242, cnt, rnd(10) + 1

Where var_242 is the eater, cnt is the current value of the loop (looping through skill IDs), and rnd(10) + 1 means a random number between 0-9 +1.

Whenever they kill the boss I really do want to kill those fuckers, because they make me feel like a pansy next to them.

I never end up going through with it though, because obviously if one of those guys can take on alone what I need a couple allies to fight, they're probably doing a good job of protecting those girls anyways.

You should at least give it a try anon. A death isn't a huge deal in the long run but a bit of extra life/mana/seeds is a pretty great thing to have. Keep in mind that their biggest strength is their tankyness. They are extremely slow and often don't hit all that hard.

First use pickpocket on them to see what kind of weapon they have. look up the lowest-damage range of that weapon and stay in that area. You can also pickpocket their bullet if you're feeling confident enough for that. You usually only have to worry too much if they have a really good gun, like one that invokes a ball spell or something. Those always suck.

Nah, I mean it's more of a matter of "I think I can leave the girl with him" rather than me shitting my pants.

I can thrash one pretty hard by myself, moreso when there's backup, but it's somewhat ungrateful to kill someone that just beat the dungeon boss for me, I think, and that like I said, they must be doing a good job.

I'm on Itz right now. I got all his rewards, as well as all the other rewards from the other gods, and have stayed with him because the only other god that interests me is Kumi for his stamina perk. Don't really know if I'll convert to Kumi or not though.

Anyhow, Itz's absorb magic is a decent ability. Since it's tied to stamina, as far as uses go, you'll need to actually be quite leveled to get the most of it(leveling is one way to increase your max stamina). The amount of mana gained is nice for emergencies. Such as gaining enough at one time to cast an emergency Jure Healing or Teleport.

I went with Kitty because the extra luck and the random spell costs that tend to be less than the usual. I started to run out of SP because I got to the point where i could switch from magic arrow to crystal spear and then magic ball. I figured it's now or never. The elemental resists are also nice.

But currently I get around 600-1000 mana back from rods, around 200-300 from scrolls and lol 30 from Itzie-bitzy. My first thought was to ditch the old perv but I figured I give him a chance.

For some long term numbers I'll give you this:

My magic device is at 315. Rods recover around 8k for me.
My favor is at 14000, his ability recovers about 1k.

It's definitely not bad. I like to use it on floors of awakened dungeons where "Nefia was released!" keeps interrupting my rest to recover mana while walled in or between floors. It also saves quite a bit of tedium with managing drawing and filling charges. Lulwy or Ehekatl might be the better choice at this point though. Still, his favor is stupid easy to raise. I'd even say easier than the ore gods.

Rods are THE most common reward you get from every town quest when you're too weak to do dungeons. After I found out townguards love sushi and booze for their bows and was done with Lulwy, the rods were enough to gain all 3 presents. I didn't farm for rods or had high carpentry, just quests.

Anons have put their castles all over the place so go ahead and put your castle where you want it. Near the embassy is fine. Good job anon. Alright, so your level is 602 with stats around 400 with your core/class stats around 600. Buffed stats around 500 with core/class stats around 800. Main spells are magic storm, every buff you can think of, contingency, and cure of Jua? Any others? Can't use teleportation against Ehetatl. Any other notes about the fight that we should be aware of?

Seriously all of this stuff needs to go in the pastebin or wiki so that other players can gauge what they need or have to be like to kill a god. It would be pretty cool to have like a memorial wall of sorts of players that killed a god. I'm pretty excited to see a person document their fight with a god. To kill the base god it actually would have taken a lot less. She barely scratched me and it only took a few magic storms to bring her down.
I gave her another test run (cast return before engaging since I didn't intend to last). Seems it is an aura that doesn't let you teleport. When I was about 4 spaces away I could teleport but once she got closer I couldn't.

I'll make sure to document when I kill izzy, and when I re-challenge the inner gods. My problem right now is getting enough wishes to do that. Just a few hundred more speed and I think I could take her.

>>13511138
Nope, and no idea.
Best part is gift spamming doesn't even take up a turn. You can give them 1000 gifts and they won't be able to attack while you do so. Keep in mind they'll still be hostile even at soulmate. Another thing to note is that you can't see when relationship level goes up with hostiles. So if you're say, copying an inner god for one of their stupid broken weapons and don't want to get minced, it's worth it to expend a few extra gifts juuuuuust to make sure.

Oh, I forgot to answer your spell question.

I use magic dart and magic storm for offense. I use dart instead of bolt because if I'm keeping them out of range of storm, then it's a battle of attrition and dart has better damage per mana than bolt on single targets. That's definitely the reason and totally not because I was to lazy to grind up crystal spear, I promise, definitely.

I use slow as my debuff but I haven't taken the time to level it too much. It has definitely lagged behind but it still finds use when I'm fighting a level 900 atlas or something. It's really good and I should put the effort in to level it. Short teleport, cure of jua, then everything else is buffs. Holy light as well but that isn't on my bar. I also have summon spirits around level 300. They aren't useful in combat (though I might try dominating some) but they make level grinding extremely fast. I can literally gain 7 levels in 30 seconds with them that high. Also wizard's harvest, but that's a given.

What I'm trying to say is, the value governing AP would also be in the file that has the values for gold and platinum coins, and the values regarding whether or not someone has the AP feats would be in the file containing the info for which character has which feats, but all the information regarding things exclusive to Elona+ would be after all the values that would be present in both elona and elona+ right?

Not as many as I was hoping for, but still not too shabby. This basically let's you convert love potions into almost a full speed upper.

One thing to note is that I sealed myself in a wall because a lot of the spirits became hostile after using alchemic rain. Quite a few npcs died, not sure which or from what but I'm assuming the spirits killed them. I got 4 named npcs, at least that I could see. I killed most of the extra npcs for maximum spirits and managed to get most of them with one rain.

So ya, I'll definitely be doing this in the future. Shame about the karma hit though. Guess those 15k resurrection stocks are good for something.

Ok I figured out a good method. Since the high level spirits get drunk and kill each other/special npcs, it's best to wait until there's 30 or so minutes left in the party to summon the spirits. This results in more bonus npcs/spirits being alive by the end, meaning more points.

2 or so npcs still died that round. Next time I'll try sealing them in a room and giving them their own love potion then summoning the spirits later and using a different one on them.

>>13515946
I'm thinking of using at least half on speed uppers. Gotta get faster to fight those gods.

>>13515957
I'll keep reporting in about this but as it stands I would recommend adding love potions to the list of items to stockpile every time you see them. Since most people already stockpile scrolls of wonder, it won't be hard to grind spirits up high enough to at least get a portion of what I'm getting, so long as you equip spell power gear. It should be noted that I'm a fairy so I can't use the magic armor special action. If I could my spirits would be even stronger, and give more tickets.

Ok So I've been figuring out the best method for this and I think I have it.

First go around killing groups of unnamed npcs. Once you find two or so <npcs> close together make them a little room with create wall, make sure to leave plenty of room. Now go find more <npcs> while killing any groups that don't have them. Spare karma impact groups if you want.

Once you find more <npcs> displace them back to the little room you made and put them inside, then seal them in. Do this until you have all of them in the room. Either use an alchemic rain + love potion in the room, or perform to get their points. Now exit and re-seal the room.

Depending on your speed wait until about 20 to 10 minutes are left in the quest, I wait till about 14 with my speed and I still have to rest a few times. Going to try 10 minutes next time. So once you're at the right time left summon as many spirits as it will let you and use an alchemic rain love potion. Optionally you can create a very large room for them to make sure to hit as many as possible.

Whole thing takes about 5 or so minutes, maybe a bit more. These are the results with my spirits.

Scrolls (growth, flying, mana, wonder, supmat)
Potions (potential, water, love, evo)
Rods (wish, mana?)
Shoes, Hermes, Speed uppers
Empty Baskets, monster balls, lenses, medals, favor items
Herbs
Hard to read books
astral pens
capsule/soda
kitty banks
ores (for pot of fusion pet training)
Blessed body/spirit
salt solution/rod of firewall/wood pieces
For selling in shop:
Bones/Hearts/etc
useless scrolls (oracle, name)
steaks that have shit status effects (undead)
Mage guild books
lockpicks
rotten stat food to reprocess with 4d pocket
BGM disks (until jukebox)
raw potential training with +attribute

You actually stockpile more than I do.

Other than what's on your list I have:
Gain attribute scrolls, this one is important
Sox, this one is extremely important
Nefia cores, you probably aren't there yet
All types of material change scrolls

and I think that's it. Again, other than the ones you have listed.

I buy gain material scrolls because dungeons at my level give 1mil each so they're a drop in the bucket for some potential nice items. If you're on a fresh-ish character I wouldn't advise it. They aren't amazing but they're a good purchase once you have your shops all invested.
I never kept scrolls of ally, didn't see the point. Then again I never used pets too much either, and if I did I preferred to catch them.

Rods of change creature are one of the most broken items in the game. Keep at least 4+ on you in higher level dungeons. Hell, as soon as bomb rocks start showing up you should take a few. So yes, stockpile change creature rods.

What race are you? If you're a fairy you don't need to worry about keeping materials for fusion too much, just keep troll genes for nether. If you're something else then try not to dip into any of the materials you need 100 of for the fusion items too much.

Also you don't need to stockpile baskets. Just get 2 or 3. The empty picnic basket gets refunded when you eat the picnic item. Plus you get them free at maid house.

I stockpile growth, uncurse, wonder. I don't stockpile mana scrolls because Rods of mana work exponentially better. Also you can bless plain old change mat scrolls to get bootleg sup mats out of them.
Potions of pot, love, evo can be made with alchemy, and I run out slower than the mats piling up. I do get every bottle of water I can grab. I also stockpile acid and fire proof pots.
Shoes, hermes blood, speed upper, and ALL the gear that maintains speed I can inferior mat to raw.
I don't stockpile herbs. They get used up by me or my dragon. Stomafilias and curarias just pile up by themselves.
Books of all the spells I frequently use. All of them on 1 charge and in the 4th dimensional pocket so they take less space. That means dominate, magic ball/arrow, buffs, curses and heals.
I haven't got any astral light pens yet from drop, and I haven't wished for one yet.

Master Thieves are lvl 35, and the slave master will only sell them when you're lvl 60, but they are better vendors.

This might be nice too: If you didn't yet pick up casting and literacy, Join the mage's guild or incognito/teleport rod your way in to the special book seller, and reserve books of domination. You can only reserve spell books there that you have PREVIOUSLY SUCCESSFULLY READ!
You can just dominate monsters you're unsure of with that.

Keep gardening and enjoy watching your STR, Con, ler and will Skyrocket just by pulling out plants and carry the weight back to the box. Necro as much as you want anon. This is a really potent way to get stats and with enough thought we can make it easier to do for people not as far into their characters.

I didn't try that because I haven't done much to raise pets on this character. I'm far enough in my quest that I highly doubt I'll start too. I think the effects depend on how the point system actually works.

Let's say there's a quota for entertainment on each npc and once that quota is met you get their points. If there is nothing beyond that then I think the love potion thing is the most efficient. If there are bonuses for going over the quota then the perform way is easily better, but that's just speculation on how I think it works.

On the other hand I do miss maybe 10% of the spirits with the love potion, since I literally can't fit enough on screen to get them all. I can't use a second one either because: >>13516845
I guess I could spread half the spirits to one side of the party and the other to the other side, that would let me get them all, but use 3 potions instead of 2.

Here's a thought, speaking of necromancy: How do you think necro coffins would work with this? Considering they are not considered allied npcs.

>> No.13522128

>>13522064
I guess those would work the same way. Alchemy and Anatomy are just harder to train, especially if one spends their skillpoints on more needed stuff. Coffins can get tedious to find especially if you want an unlimited suply on them. and I don't think the sprite limit is only the summoning spells speciality.
On the flip side the stack won't deplete after each Perform quest and there's that key thing that will help you with collecting your summoned undead and store your coffins.

I will check into it but that does sound viable. I don't quite know necromancy but if the level it summons depends on the bones used and not your skills it can be quite viable.

>> No.13522153

>>13522128
Well it's true that alchemy and anatomy are harder to raise, but there's gear that increases alchemy level. There isn't gear that increases summon spirit level, aside from spell power I suppose.

I know you can only have 10 necro units out at a time, I think it's 10 at least, but that's still not bad. Just do that in addition to the normal party time and with high enough necros you could probably get maybe 1000-2000 tickets. I have a bunch since I was tinkering with them awhile ago, I'll try summoning some during one of the quests and see if the point star appears over their head. If it does I'll give it a go summoning them alone and see how many tickets I get.

The necro level depends on your skill levels. The type of unit depends on the item level. The level is defined by the price, so bell parts will almost always get you dead eyes blood dragon, for example.

I really hope they add more to necromancy. I'll totally make a necromancy character if they make it viable.

Dual wielding means you have at least 2 weapons equipped.
Claws are shields and counted as armor.
If you dualwield keep in mind the weight of your weapons. Your main hand weapon shouldn't be a heavy claymore, and your off hand weapon(s) should be light weapons.
Also every offhand weapon gets a -20% increasing hit penalty.
The wiki explains this better, but know that Clyamore+claw+claw is considered as sword and shield style.

Get the dual wield skill, grind skills that are dexterity based like short sword, throwing, bow/xbow, light armor, jeweler, pick pocket, etc.

Wear a light weapon or normal weight weapon on main hand, light weapon in the second, claws in the rest to boost damage and hit. You do not actually hit with claws. The game considers them as shields, and they add extra damage and hit to all your other weapons, even ranged.

Plus high level means you usually can reliably escape or survive long enough and hit hard enough that getting mob'd cease to be a problem.

The only deaths I got recently were when I decided to try a new tier of dungeons and got fucked over by five headed gods, had to die to them twice to get back a stack of small medal that I forgot to stash away.

A combination of things. Mostly that there are probably a lot less high level folks and that it's harder for us to die. One shot protection is a major goal of a lot of people, and they get it by that point. Knowledge and more educated guesses on power gaps as well.

For example, the last two times I died weren't to the broken dungeons, it was 1) when I forgot to get myself to bloated before putting my wallet on the cast button of a spell I wanted to grind and left to take a shower. Starved to death in my own bed, how sad, and 2) when I forgot to buff myself before testing out stuff with my summoned spirits. They cut through me like butter without my holy shield.

>>13525534
And that's with just one summon? I'll test some of this out in a few hours. I'll love potion as many as I can summon as check results. Not sure if ranched godpets will count towards the limit. never tried to breed them. The discarded ranch work almost like the dojo, there's just no NPC there to train the pets.
You have the right idea about training faith. Sleeping in a good bed also helps. You don't need to, just wear pious gear when you [p]ray. The limit only counts when you receive the ally not when they are in your party.

These are the three things I've done to get my little girl to where she is now.

1) Let my pet loot the gold from dungeon bosses so that she can for her trainer. Pickpocketing can do the same if you gene engineer the skill into her but I started getting serious about making her a adventuring buddy later in the game so I let her loot my dungeon bosses to jump start her funds for training.

2) While in town let her visit her trainer. Just rest up, read magic books, go fishing, etc. She'll make multiple visits to her trainer and afterawhile she'll have 400% potential in both stats and skills.

3) I personally feed my pet only one thing. Blessed or unblessed Curarias. Interestingly with just this she can get 1-3 stat ups from doing just that which is crazy considering I have to use the herb in recipe to regularly get that. I use Curarias because it looks like they train every stat and you usually get a lot of them when you go to farm your herbs.

As for pet levels once you get to South Tyris there is an NPC that sells high level monster balls. You can then use the monster balls to capture high level creatures to gene engineer into your pets to level them up. I captured panic quest monsters to supercharge her levels but this caused a big discrepancy in stats vs her level. This isn't bad if your stats are already in the 100s but when you're lv 155 with only double digit stats this is a bit unsettling. Through the above dieting I explained above I was able to get her stats to where they are today.

If you're planning on ever going magic I'd suggest starting now. Sooner the better. If you like how your current character plays then screw magic. Well, screw magic except buffs. I see literally no reason not to have at least holy shield and attribution shield up constantly. It's not like the Mag-abyss is that rare, it has a 100% drop rate off an npc in LI. >I don't know why people start with melee/guns then switch to magic. Isn't it a better idea to start from the get go for spell levels?
It depends. No matter how you do it, unless you inherit an assload of books you're going to be doing quite a bit of non-magical combat because you can't keep stock up. And really, the only attack spell you need is Magic Ball. So there's a pretty reasonable argument for using melee/ranged with buff spells until you're literate enough to read Magic Storm books and casty enough to cast Magic Ball. You do lose a bit of Magic stat XP, but that's easy enough to make up and not splitting your focus early on makes the early game a lot easier.

>> No.13529511

>>13529464
Don't necessarily need to switch over to magic but rather add it on to your character's portfolio of things he/she can do. The earlier you add magic to your portfolio the better. You need to get to leveling those spell levels and the necessary skills to cast as soon as possible. The earlier you get everything squared the less catch up you have to do with your spells to make them relevant.

>>13529510
See I disagree. I never did any melee/ranged on my character at the early levels. I just had to keep switching between various attack spells, but it trained my casting and magic. Gave me a nice boost on my magic dart once I got into the mages guild too, so once I had as much stock of that as I needed I was gravy for awhile.
Dart is still useful over ball sometimes too. For example I'm kicking myself for focusing more on ball lately because I'll likely need to pathetically dart down Itzpalt, since he mostly casts ball spells and I won't want to be in range.

Still, it's not like switching gimps your character or anything, I can definitely see the merit. Just seems like a weird practice to me.

I agree with >>13529499

If you already know you like magic and want to use it prior to starting the game there is no reason to pick a race and class combination that doesn't have the necessary skills to start casting spells right out of the gate. It's better to start leveling spells and skills right from the start than switch over.

However, If you're relatively new to Elona and or had no experience with magic prior and you found out you liked it it's understandable for said person to pick it up later in the character's career. After devoting so much time to a character it might be hard to just reroll.

For me I already knew I liked magic but I also liked the idea of a gunslinger. I went with Eulderna for a race because they come with the necessary skills to start casting and the stat bonuses scream hybrid play. The Gunner class of course gives me what I need to play as a gunslinger. All other skills could be learned later. So I was casting and putting bullets inside monsters from the start of my adventure.
