Will you be taking the JLPT this summer? At my uni they say that N2 is good enough to get a job in Japan. Not sure if you'd want that though.

>> No.13457244

>>13457195
It's just a hobby to me and the only reason to take the test is to be able to write it on my CV. I spend a shitload of time on learning Japanese, so I might as well profit a bit from it. N2 is no where good enough to get an actual job, and since I'm no native English speaker (and have an actual education) teaching English is no real option to me.

Redpill post I guess.
Studying Jap in europe at the moment. Even though they say N2 is good enough for a job, I doubt it too. After your first year here, you're in N4, and after your second year you're N2. 2 years (40 weeks of classes total) is a pretty short time to learn a language like Japanese so the pressure is high. You won't be getting any language subjects in your 3rd year, except if you chose linguistics. The other options are Arts/media&culture, which will land you in the lowest salary class if you even ever find a job, and History&humanities, which will allow you to become a researcher with mediocre pay. Last option is Economics&politics, which will get you a job probably although it won't make you a millionaire. I'm doing that direction right now, and I'm pretty secure about my future. I don't really need to be rich as long as I can afford my dream game-room over the years and financially support my boyfriend

To all who want to study Japanese, it's not a bad choice if you like it and you have good networking skills, but you won't end up rich. The biggest profit you'll get is being able to read VN's, probably? Even if I can't find a job in the economy sector, I'll always be able to work minimum wage at the embassy or something.

I have to restart my whole 1k elementary kanji deck because I forgot most of them. Don't take a short celebration break after completing a deck cause mines ended up being about 7 months. On the positive, I've been going at some vocab decks (however severely behind on them). I wish I was more consistent about these things.

Do you mean two months?
I'm also preparing for the JLPT in July. Trying to cram in as much vocabulary and grammar review as I can until then.
Have you taken the JLPT before?

Since I've passed the N2 last December I feel like I've made good progress on my listening skills and reading speed.
I planned at one point to register for the JLPT N1 session in July but I didn't feel ready yet.
I'm still lacking a few thousand words and expressions, advanced grammar and reading speed.
