Any tips for a relatively new player? I'm struggling a bit with E-5 on Easy.

I've got the 4 Kongou, Junyou, and I-168, and while I can managed to get through all the nodes leading up to the boss having taking basically just scratch damage, but then once I get there everyone gets taiha'd and I can only get the boss down to between 1/4-1/2hp.

I've got sanshiki on all of the Kongous, and all except the sub I have kai, no kai ni though.

Should I swap one of Kongou out for Mutsu? And what should I put on Junyou for the boss?

The challenge of the last dance was entirely in getting past that whore Yorktown. Sparkling didn't matter, I had sparkled Yamato and Musashi self-destruct the moment they reached her node again and again. And there were times that I did make it past her but she had killed 30+ of my planes and cost me air superiority at the boss node. So fuck it, I replaced the hotels with Fusou kai 2s and it worked like a charm. The only sparkling you need this time is support expeditions.

This is primarily for the anon who asked for a minimal KanColle viewer earlier (minimalKanColleViewer), but anyone else is free to try it if they want.

This Chrome extension partnered with a Chrome app shortcut will run KC in its own minimal, standalone viewer (pic related). You're essentially playing the game in Chrome (straight from the site, so you'll still need to use the cookie exploit or VPN to play) but without all of the extra browser interface.

I think it's a good combination of the ease of the cookie method, the problem-free play of playing in a vanilla browser, all within a minimal interface similar to flash projector.

You must have exceptional bad luck or your ships are underleveled and can't dodge. I just took a look at Easy on E-5, the only ship that should be maybe taihaing your ships should be the enemy BB. Everything else should be shooting at Imuya and your ships should be cleaning up those escort fortresses and DDs easily before night battle. At night battle your ships should be doing 50-200 damage a shot (Practically 100-400 damage for a double attack set-up) if they have sanshiki.

Just to remodel is perfect. Their remodel levels are somewhat high so you definitely don't need to go higher. They can also equip sanshikis so they will be very helpful.

Because Surface fleet has terrible accuracy and taking south route is arguably the easiest with Searchlight on flagship and echelon formation for max placebo. The BB Hime node is also easy as fuck since your escort fleet dodges like crazy with AS+, opening and closing torpedoes will kill the DDs and the BB in your main fleet will take out BB Hime. AS+ on all nodes really fucking helps.

I've been stuck on the E-5 (Easy) Last Dance for about 5 sorties. I have 2 Sanshikis and 2 AP Shells, but no matter how I equip my girls with them they don't manage to do any significant damage to the boss.

Should I give the AP Shells to my BBs and the Sanshikis to my CAs, or just have the BB wield the Sanshikis, or something else? My current fleet is Nagato, Mutsu, Haguro, Maya, Akagi and Kaga.

It only creates a 800x480 sized window for KanColle if you start the game via the shortcut. All other Chrome windows/tabs should remain untouched.

There are times when I wonder what is actually happening with certain game mechanics.

For example: I accidentally sent a fleet to a wrong expedition, and recalled them 10 seconds later. Where the hell do these girls manage to lose 60 tonnes of fuel and 50 tonnes of ammo in ten seconds? They didn´t even clear the breakwater of my port. Did they just throw that overboard.

Is my harbor now covered in bunker oil and the bottom filled with unexploded ordnance? The cleanup costs are going to be astronomical, and I won´t dare to move anything with more draft than a destroyer.

What comp takes you to the boss node? Any comps that decrease the chance of hitting the maelstrom? I'm currently running 2FBB, 1BB, 1CA, and 2CV. I could have sworn this worked before but now nothing works.

I have neither Kumano or Mikuma for the branching strat. I also don't like the sub tanking strat. Tried it once and used the damecon on decchi and I didn't even kill the boss. Complete crapshoot.

This setup is specifically for last dance, where you will not be likely to find FCF useful, so I've left it out. This leaves the BBVs free to take the flagship spot, where they will get to equip AP shell cut-in setup. I put Fusou above Yamashiro because of her 1 extra point in firepower stat, but you may trust in Yamashiro more or something so go ahead and switch them if you want to.

One of the BBVs is to take the flagship spot so that she can attack the enemy flagships (which for all intents and purposes is the biggest threat to your fleet) and take them out or at least disable them before the enemy flagship can do the same to you, at least during the main fleet's second shelling phase (I've had more than a few moments where the enemy crit one of my main fleet's ships to red during the second shelling phase after everyone survived the first). The other BBV takes the second spot so as to be able to attack before the CV hime can, with the same explanation. For the carriers, you can put them in any order you like, be it chances of survivability, shelling damage, or whatnot.

For chipping and for post-final kill farming, FCF is viable, so if you're using it you have to have a carrier as the flagship so as not to gimp your BBVs. Still, you may want one to attack as early as possible so you can attack before the Ru Kai at the boss node can. (The other BBV can go into the last slot, so as to maximise the scratch damage your CVs can do.) And if you're taking the middle route, there's an installation boss on the way, so you can equip your flagship CV with a red plane so she won't be able to attack the boss (I've always had all the mobs cleared out by the escort fleet, without fail), allowing your BBV to take the first turn instead, and hopefully critting her to chuuha so she can't attack any more.
