Being a primary doesn't make you one of the elite, it's not at all a thing you can be proud of, it's required if you want to consider yourself a fan and because of that should be the norm for fans of a franchise.

If you want the people who have played shmups before Touhou to have some elitist title that shows how much better they are as opposed to other people who also play shmups but got introduced to the franchise through Touhou or people who just like Touhou, can appreciate the gameplay but don't play similar games because they don't appeal to them; please, be my guest. Just don't use a word with an already established definition that completely differs from whatever you want to use it for.

I consider myself a primary and have played/read every official release (which, again, isn't something to be proud of but a thing every "serious" fan will inevitably do) thus you can't have played and read more than me unless you're talking about the genre as a whole or other unrelated reading material where it could be possible since it is a huge amount as opposed to the finite one that would be relevant for the primary definition.
