Assuming you're stockpiling for event, go 2/5/38
You'll want to switch to 5/37/38 after you hit a reasonable number of buckets (300~ should be a safe amount) to get more steel since repairs are going to cost you.

On a per day basis 2/5/38 only lags behind 5/37/38 by 2k~ steel so you can continue to run the former if you're fine with your steel level and need more buckets.

So how much resources/buckets are usually enough for clearing an event and farming some drops?

I started playing mid-February and couldn't even clear E3 in Winter, so I want to make the next one count.

For easy modo 20k + regen and 100 buckets is enough to clear the event and farm drops twice.
As for hard mode I don't know anybody where 100k and a few hundred buckets wasn't enough to do everything they wanted and still have a ton left over.

Special snowflakes don't count; you could clear the event with maruyu too but that doesn't make a proper comp "unnecessary". Even with regular comps they ran full marriage teams with top tier equipment in every other slot to compensate for hotels. Route taiha rate was high in hard and 2 Hime + Oni with 500/400/400 hp meant that hotels were the difference between mildly infuriating and tearing your hair out. Generally speaking there's a greater percentage of outlier clears recorded and uploaded because those are the interesting ones that will garner attention. Nobody wants to watch standard hotel + bisko comps since its a guaranteed win.

4 times in that period alone. Total tries for hotels amount to 14 or so, with slightly differing recipes each time. 4/6/6/2 is the smallest one I've done, which is why I'm wondering whether other bigger resource ones like 6/7/7/2/20 are better in your experiences or not.
It hasn't been all bad though I suppose. Nagato on my very first LSC and Yahagi on like 4th.

Fuck no I'm not going to risk getting sent to node H again. I was raging like mad when changing a bomber for a saiun wasn't enough to pass the LOS check. I ended up having to change a fighter for a second saiun.

And besides I've gotten turned back on the first node with red T with my old setup before, it's not like having red T will guarantee smooth sailing. So might as well try killing them instead and hope you dodge all the enemy's attacks.

They said there's still a little chance to go H even if you have enough LoS. You'll get sent to H eventually even with that overloaded saiun setup.
Also, didn't notice that on your setup before, I'm only using one plane on Ooyodo. 2 guns, 1 night scout, 1 starshell. Your LoS gear is truly overkill.

I don't know how anyone could see it as a bad thing. It's basically the same as the old scaling system, except high level casual players can choose easier difficulties and new players who feel like they're strong and lucky can choose harder ones for better rewards. 3-2A is so rough. I got my setup down and Tone is almost level 60, but since it's a short run and I need to switch subs between every run, it constantly demands attention. 4-3 was so much nicer since the run lasted a lot longer, didn't even mind waiting 5 minutes in between runs for fatigue.

It's making me into a bad person, every time Tone misses MVP I can see myself screaming at my girls for screwing up on their way back to HQ.

I got my first lsc today and I'm glad I did a second attempt. Usually I lsc to burn out my resources so I can focus on other things but after lscing once and getting hiei I still had enough for one more LSC and finally got my first lsc ship.

Even if we assume the tests are reasonable, the results show minor differences in accuracy between 2x46 and 2x other guns, which is okay I guess. Levels do have notable effect on accuracy, and you aren't going to fare well if you try an event map with barely the remodel level, even if you max modernized your girls.

I haven't been trying to stockpile too heavily, since I don't really know if I'll need to if I'm not attempting Hard difficulty since I'm not 80 yet. I don't have much experience with the events though, since I started playing in the final days of the Winter event but didn't attempt easy since nothing of mine was remodeled.

That said, I've been making sure I stay around cap with my resources, but not close enough that I waste the regen.

I'll just keep spamming 1-5-A or 4-3, then.

I like 4-3 with its 2376 exp for 2x flag+mvp, and 792 exp for the other ships, plus the ability to often sortie two times before waiting for morale to rise again.

The survival chance at note J isn't that bad, either, with a possibility of no BB at all, and it still gives xp and reduces morale drain if you don't get totally wrecked.

For 1-5 I'd actually consider farming more than one node if your HQ level is low enough and you have enough ASW gear.

Forgot to add, it is mainly due to the opening strike on the non-sub ships in the map. If Hiyou crits for 280 nothing is going to have the time to get close to that.

Need to work on my baux but I think I'm going at a good rate in the past week. I was 15k/24k/14k/8k and 70+ buckets at the beginning of the week so I'm hopeful I make more in the coming future before the event hits.

2xCL - 1x sonar 1x charge 1x??

Not sure what I should use for the last spot on the CLs, I only have exactly 2 charges and 2 sonars. Does it even matter against subs what's in the last spot if it's not a sonar or a charge?

This is for the level 40 power-upped 1-5.

I started with 3 Imuyas and got really lucky and crafted a Maruyu halfway through, otherwise I'd still be at 60 due to wait times for repairs. It's a frustrating run, it'd be so bearable if the CA just double-attacked a weaker target, subs actually lasted more than one run, etc., but it's so inconsistent

Craft more Sonar/Charges and put them in the last spot. Preferably sonars for the accuracy boost. ASW equipment is comparatively cheap. Use shimakaze as your flag when crafting if you have her. (It's how I got all my type3s. Call it placebo if you want.) If you're really unlucky with crafts then put something with accuracy/evasion/armor in the last slot.

What is the most efficient way to power-level a single ship? Put it as the flagship in 3-2-A with 5 CVs loaded with nothing but torpedo bombers and spam away? Maybe 4 CV+SS if you're worried about not killing everything.

Aside from that, you have enemies whose equipment setup are strikingly similar to the Allies, just check those battleships with radars. Who was the nation that made heavy use of radar guided weaponry?
Also weapon stats. The strongest Abyssal torpedo is only comparable to our ordinary Oxygen torpedoes while Abyssal radars are overpowered compared to our radars.

It'd kind of fit if whatever the Abyssals are basely can attach themselves to a host and retain usage while adding on to the base form, like Venom. I mean hell, take one look at them in general and it has that kind of creepy vibe to them that Venom does. Besides, until they either directly say what's going on with the U.S./Allies in it or show what's happened to them, then we can't even say for sure one way or the other. We'd actually need to them to give more characterization for the Abyssals to find out more about their history, which isn't likely to happen anytime soon. Not saying it couldn't be the Allies, but it just feels weird to call it a day with that when we hardly know anything about them in general.

Your basic setup is 5DD/1BB(V).
You can also use any other ASW-capable ship except CAVs instead of DDs, but you may be better off sending them to 4-3 then.

Your flagship gets the three best pieces of ASW gear you have (I go with 2x Sonar, 1x Depth Charge).
Your other DDs get less or weaker ASW gear than the flagship (I go with 1x Sonar + Depth Charge).
That should be enough to make the flagship get MVP.
For further min-maxing, put the ships with the lowest ASW on the top of your lineup and the strongest ones at the bottom in case your flag misses the 2nd shelling.

Also, make sure that you have 3 ships equipped with a radar each to minimize losses from the maelstrom.

And that's it.

Prepare for F5 or rape if you get sent east, though. Luckily the chance is quite low.

No, unless you grind multiple DD teams it's not morale friendly.

The BB is for a second round of shelling. Necessary for S-rank in case the opening torpedo wrecks one of your ships or when someone misses.

If you want to level a single CL/DD, 4-3 is probably better because you will often be able to do 2 runs before morale needs to recover.

I've been doing 3-2A with 3CVL carrying all blues + whatever I want to level and it's been extremely easy grinding. Even with everyone at 0 fatigue they always S/A rank, and I might bucket someone hit to red once every 5 runs or so. Granted, it's only 576 exp to the flagship and 300ish for everyone else while one of the CVLs always take the MVP, but being able to do it quickly makes it up for me.

It's not guaranteed but with this set-up my CA has a 75%ish chance of getting MVP each run.

CA: Double attack setup with 2 of your best guns, yamato plane and one of your best radars.
BBV: 1 shitty red gun, 1 shitty yellow gun, 1 radar, 1 zuiun. Cutin setup ensures it will help with cleanup and shitty guns lower the ensure it won't steal MVP.
3CVL: 1 shitty red plane, 3 of your best radars/at least 1saiun/anything else that increases accuracy
1SS: Best engine to tank

Welp.

Was going for the following:

CA: artillery spotting DA
BBV: cut-in with shitty guns/Zuiun, radar
CVL: Saiun, Radar, 2 Bombers in smallest slots
CL/CA: cut-in with shitty guns
SS: nothing

Mostly worked until everyone missed and then the enemy CLTs got to the torpedo phase...
I think once I get to first remodel and modernize it might be mostly ok.
