unless you are using a playstyle that is horribly flawed, yes it actually is possible. and even then, altering your playstyle just requires more work

I've seen dozens of new players complain that they'll never clear 12s, and sure enough those same people who put effort into it end up doing it. I have not once in all of my experience come across a player who puts deliberate and consistent practice into clearing 12s but is simply incapable of it no matter what

you get out of iidx exactly what you put it. play and challenge yourself for several hours every day and within a year you will be doing a lot more than clearing 12s. don't challenge yourself, it'll take long. play less, it'll take longer. use a playstyle with more weaknesses that you don't correct, longer still

I've never encountered an actual under-12 skill cap, only players who don't do what it takes to get to 12s. it's extremely unlikely you will hit a skill cap of any variety until very, very late into your iidx career. but even then when the time comes, you can for example incorporate bms and push through it

You'll definitely get better scores, but you won't be breezing through songs that give you trouble. What you failed on the USKOC is what you'll fail on the Dao, but you might see some new personal best scores. Switches > Membranes all day every day.

I always found that USKOC very awkward to use because it feels like it registers later than even the normal JPKOC. Even thought the JP would stick all the time, I would always use it over the US when playing singles because I felt like it was more responsive in regards to timing. With the US, sticky keys are rarely a concern, and the JP feels more responsive. Not like that matters much if you're using an adapter.

Early double charts were fucking retarded. Even the easier ones were dumb as hell because they are mapped like hybrid couple/single play because it's physically impossible for anyone to hit some sections. It's possible for me to hit key six and scratch with the same hand, but I have to use the very tips of both my fingers to accomplish that, but that still isn't good enough to "properly" hit some notes in old doubles charts. Pinky stretching something like pic related is simply not an option, and this is a fucking level 5, and similar patterns are everywhere up until around 10~ style.

Clear rates seldom, if ever, reflect the difficulty of a song, considering that most of the people on the network don't play 80%+ of the song list. The Safari and Gigadelic 7K have extremely low clear rate percentages because most people only played them when they did 7/8 dan, and while they may "clear" it in the dan course, it will not register as a clear on the server. The result is that the two songs have a 10% and 7% clear rate respectively. This is also why The Sampling Paradise has a clear rate below 20% despite being an easy 12.

While I love osu!, it's still easy to say that the scoring system is hilariously flawed. Score is completely dependent on combo, which then calculates rank. This makes it hard to see who's actually good and who's just hr-dt-fl-hd'ing beginner maps.
One miss and you're screwed, no matter how good your accuracy is. A score with 70% accuracy with no misses can be far higher than a score with 99.99% accuracy with one miss.

Extending from this, the reason IIDX has a scoring system which is good in contrast to Osu's is that it's based on accuracy and not combo. I don't know the ins and outs, but I don't think your combo offers any bonuses apart from a cool number and the accomplishment of getting a FC.

the highest rank is kaiden, which is preceded by 10dan

don't concern yourself with dan. as far as pop'n goes, 12s are more or less equivalent to 42s and 43s on the old scale, 11s usually in line with 41s. it varies too much beyond that

The FPS and FP7 are functionally the same, the only difference is that the FP7 looks nicer and its turntable is a bit closer to AC diameter at the cost of the case being a bit bigger. Turntable size really doesn't make much of a difference though.

If you play on your lap and/or move it around from house to house a lot you probably want the FPS, if you play on a desk or home cab setup you want the FP7.
Also if you plan on doing art mods, of the two only the FP7 supports it.

For my FPS I just got default red keys and blue TT. Pink buttons and white TT or white 1/3/5/7 and blue 2/4/6 with white TT looks nice too.
I always thought white for 1/3/5/7, blue for 2/4/6, and red for TT would look nice to represent the note colors, but I've never seen it done.

it's funny because you can't name any good players that are just outright rude to less experienced players for no reason. I know this as a matter of plain fact. it's always people who think they're hot shit now that they've cleared or hard cleared whatever 12 they think is difficult, or cleared kaiden, or whatever else, that like to shit on everyone

your jab at what you think my skill level is is entertaining to me on a personal level I guess, in a kind of snickering-to-myself way. nice try though anon

I use 60/50 since 100/50 was making me too tired during extended sessions, and i still have more than enough key rebound to hit jackhammers. I've heard that japanese arcade players usually prefer 60/50 or 20/100 and arcades with multiple IIDXs will have different spring/switch setups.

>> No.13236514

I don't see why not. I really wouldn't recommend a real controller for osu though, its charts are made for the default keyboard layout and won't really be enjoyable or comfortable on a typical IIDX layout.

You'll likely move onto the real thing in time anyways

Worth for LR2, since its an actual clone. Mania has charts made for keyboards not IIDX controllers.

Unless youre playing BMS charts, but then you might as well go play LR2.

If you need help with mania I can probably help you a bit, im nowhere near the best but im alright-ish.

dj TAKA's decent enough, able to play his song scales. DJ TECHNORCH is too, since he actually got into making music because of playing beatmania back in the 5-Key days.

As for the artists, GOLI admits to not being good at all at the game, mentioning unable to pass MAX 300 back in the day despite animating the overlay for it.

Why doesn't AC IIDX have the same fixed scroll speed settings as LR2? It makes so much sense.
I'm not talking the ones that normalize BPM changes, just the max/min/average ones so you don't need to adjust floating high speed to your ideal green number for each song.

I don't understand why the scroll speed was ever based on BPM to begin with.
