If you can get Marisa and Sanae 2, maybe even Kokoro, from AmiAmit that will be an average around $35 per.

After that it starts shooting up. AK I got mine for about $42 each, including all the shipping and fees. But now it would be closer to $46 since they increased prices.

For Auctions, it varies a lot on price and on the quality. I got most of mine through auctions for less then $50 each on average and most of the quality has been good. Only had 1 "bad" fumo, might have been damaged in shipping but I can't tell.

Mine came at most covered with a bit of dust or fuzz. I just got some lint removing cloth, nothing too strong, and that worked.

If the pictures on the auction site, or any store for that matter, doesn't look decent then I wouldn't get it. But I haven't seen anything really bad fumos or nendos, but pay attention to the description as it might say something about the environment it was kept it. I have seen some that were kept by someone who smokes, so I kept away from those.

Ya, a low starting big doesn't mean a low ending bid. They are some auctions that start at 1 YEN and end being over 100,000.

Most Fumos are probably going end up between 3k to 5k, which isn't bad. New ones are going to be more expensive of course. The Scarlets and Komeijis will probably end up going to 6-7k if there are any.

You can always bid a higher amount for safety, as you only pay as much as the next highest bid.

Could anyone give me a crash coarse in how to buy from Yahoo Japan? I'm assuming I'll need a forwarding service of some kind. I will probably also have to sign up for the site, and I've heard before that you need some Japanese address info to sign up for some sites. Is this true for YAJ?

Would it just be better for me to try and procure a fumo from a site that's in English and probably end up paying more?

Buyee is the easiest to use, YAJ even advertises it on their site. I used it and had few problems.

When I couldn't bid on an item from Buyee, for one reason or an other, I used fromjapan. Only used them twice so far, and their site is more clunky, but it worked well for me.

Just sign up on either of the sites read their FAQs. It didn't take me that long to figure it out and I am pretty dumb.

So I'm pretty happy about getting Marisa, but dear God, I wasn't expecting her hat to completely engulf her head. I may end up sticking some packaging in her hat so it'll stay up a bit more since positioning it only helps so much.

I only have Pikachu. I wanted to at least try the Amiibo thing out. I was hoping that they would let you do co-op modes outside of traditional versus modes in Smash. I was let down, but Marisa still needs some kind of company for now.
Like the other anons have said, I'll probably cave in sooner or later and get more fumos. It's just a matter of which faction I'll want to collect first, which comes down to who has the best hats.

Tag is wrong, hair pattern doesn't match the official one, small outfit inconsistencies, really cheap price on places like amazon or ebay.

Some times it's as subtle as facial expressions being wrong.

While I am no expert on stitching or fumos, it looks similar to my Marisa fumo stitching from a similar angle.

Consider looking up other pictures of Sakuya fumos and compare that one to those. Look at her clothing, the number of pleats on her skirt, the stitching on her face, those sorts of things.

There must be some fumomafia behind the fact the plushies won't restock even if they sell like pancakes and it's been shown that people are even willing to pay double or triple the price for the fumo they want.
I guess the scalpers/resellers are AngelType/Gift themselves and there's some system that makes them make more money this way.

I have a Visa card, and it auto converts. Had to pay a small fee, less than $2. The shipment will depend on what you choose. The FAQs will tell you the prices and speeds.

Although EMS is more expensive, I personally suggest going with it instead of SAL. All my packages where pretty beat up when I get them, and SAL would probably make that even worse. But if other people have had good experiences with SAL, please chime in. EMS takes around a week, I think SAL is like 3 weeks.

SAL will take 3 weeks, but it's cheaper. And I haven't had any damaged SAL packages, you get the same chance with both shipping methods. Not to mention Amiami packages are really sturdy and can tolerate a good beating, they are made to ship figures which are much more fragile than plushies.
So if you don't mind waiting go Registered SAL and save some dough.
