What's /jp/'s favorite Touhou? Mine would have to be either MS or IN.

Same as you, actually. Though SA is certainly not far behind those two.

Imperishable Night, because it has boss replay mode and spell practice. The later games feel a bit empty without them.

That's why EoSD is so fucking awesome, because it has none of the bullshit the later games have.

Yeah, even the visible hitbox.

Reimu is an ordinary Shrine Maiden, yet in practice ends up being God-tier, able to defeat even the most powerful touhoes easily.

Reimu is actually Haruhi Suzumiya.

Imperishable Night.
Beautiful patterns, my personal favorite music, awesome characters, and on the easier side because I suck at shmups.
(Yes I said shmup not danmaku what are you going to do)

You have probably picked Aya, the third option. You get the power to go super fast when unfocused without firing with her, it's probably only good for reaching the top of the screen, not nearly as handy as some of the others.

First Reimu option is Yukari, she gets to warp from one edge of the screen to the other when you double tap into the edge without firing, she's my favourite option so far as I can more or less do all Satori's card on normal with Yukari chosen.

Second option is Suika, her shots are pretty solid, home a bit but don't have much spread. When you unfocus and don't shoot, she sucks up every token on the screen, upside to this is collecting fire upgrades, downside is that it makes you a bit more lazy and if you aren't careful you'll spend less time trying to graze for autocollect. When using Suika's ability you also won't always get full points for the tokens as it doesn't raise your communication level like being at the top of the screen or grazing.

God, I love SA. Bosses are kind of retarded, but fighting them is awesome.

You know, most of us don't have any actual problems calling them shmups. Only weeaboos will get angry at you for not calling them danmaku.

>> No.1314362

>>1314358

Only idiots will, not even weeaboos. Danmaku isn't a genre. "Manic shooter" is the closest actual term.

Communication level. It raises when you graze shots but falls pretty quickly. If you max it out (by grazing a lot of shots) you'll auto-collect tokens on the screen for their full value. Otherwise the fraction it displays is how much you get from score tokens, basically it's attached to score. Score is no longer attached to lives so you could, if just aiming for completion ignore it, though auto-collect is really handy for picking up fire power too.

You also max your communication level by being at the top of the screen, but like I said it drops quickly. This just means that when you use normal auto-collect at the top of the screen you'll get full value for everything.

+1 for MS. I don't like the chaotic DirectX look of the Windows games.

I like pretty much everything about Imperishable Night the most. It has my favorite music, characters, and artwork. It also has a lot of my favorite patterns and the overly-complicated scoring system + last cards on bosses makes it a lot of fun to replay.
