Only you can say how dirty you'll feel, but it doesn't really warp things too badly. It makes the initial rush for skills and potential more important, due to the faster growth rates meaning each point of potential or bit of time with a skill matters more, but it fairly quickly levels off mid/late game. You also are noticeably weaker early/mid game due to not having the equipment and gold that you'd normally have at that point because of how fast you got there.

You get bonus points every time you level, even if you've already reached that level before. Effectively, it lets you trade a bit of HP/MP for faster access to more bonus points.

Lower level also increases breed power of monsters, making them easier to ranch.

Good gods are Lulwy for speed, Opatos for strength and defense, Kumiromi for skill spam, Mani for offense.

Of those, Lulwy's the best if you're willing to spend time resting between fights to regen SP, otherwise pick Kumiromi if you use a lot of skills, or your pick of Mani or Opatos depending on if you want lots of damage going both ways or not.

What are some easy2get and strong pets? I'm assuming the gods' ones? Problem is I'm Mani's follower and wiki says his pet is apparently shit?

What would be the best place to find some artifacts for me/my pets? The only thing I got is that time stopping weapon from boss in Ancient Castle. I gave it to my Little Grill.

When will I be able to keep my attributes' potential above Bad?

Also, is it normal that my tax is much higher than salary? I own the cozy house and am not sure how to balance that out without getting the salary/tax feats.

Invest in mgic shops above rank 100 to infrequently get potions of potential you can bless a stack of periodically. Remember to always buy up salt solution/rods of fire wall to pot for fusion more bottles of water. Supposedly the picnic basket thing that was just added helps too. Marry your pet and wake up before lime 7 am or something for a small breakfast boost

Depends on a lot of factors like what you do and what you own. Do you have the treasure of saint/wicked and is your karma high up. Are you holding a fuckton of gold on hand instead of in-kitty banks on tax day. Are your properties not breaking even. Etc. Etc. Etc.Read the wiki pages on it and up your arena, pet arena, voting, and dungeon ranks at least.

Dungeons that are 2/3rds of your actual level are safe bets.

Eventually, you will start doing dungeons that are 2x or more, but it might be more productive to stay safe while you slowly learn about new enemies.

God pets are not necessarily strong, but have nifty abilities. Debuffs, self-heal, auto-revive, free seeds, free platinum, free enchants, magic spam. The android only has boost, but it's still better than say, a kobold.

Treasure maps, maybe. Beyond static artifacts, who knows. You'll probably get a full set of superior material and fully upgraded +10 armor before you'll find artifacts that you're 100% satisfied with.

Choose a designated pet to become your chef and only sleep when it's 9PM at night.
If you have gold, invest in magic shops to at least rank 200 for potions of potential.
If you're poor, work on your Tailoring, Cooking, Farming, and Fishing for picnic baskets.

Yes, in general. I've never found it to be a problem, but if your tax is prohibitively high, start using kitty banks and drop some expensive furniture in your home. Don't build more properties than you actually need.

You're expecting them to raise your skill levels, but that's not how it works. They raise the POTENTIAL of your skills so for example if you're level 3 Weightlifting with 50% potential, paying the trainer will bump it up to 60%~.

The level remains 3- you can only raise that by level up points or by actually training the skill- in this case for weightlifting, walking around Burden!'d all the time.

Ive done it before, I have 3x luck feat (Goddess luck), I've maxed out faith for Ehekatl, for the lucky dagger, and I have luck+ gear (palmia pride ring=luck+15, unkown shell=luck+3, etc)

Given all these bonuses, and a lucky day, I can easily go 15+ rounds on blackjack without cheating. Full luck. Obviously don't hit under 19~20.

Luck is a MAJOR factor in doing this as it skips cards- more luck = more cards skipped

I know this is a little off tangent, but side note for potions of cure corruption don't win more than 4 rounds- over that and you've overshot the 'sweet spot'

easy way to counter this is to equip a very low damage shotgun, to "aggro" the enemy, then your pets make short work of it, and gain affection. dont bother with spellcasting or throwing because its totally inefficient

you could also mount a low level horse and equip it only with a shuriken to setup aggro upon movement, if the horse is shitty enough then he wont get the killshot/affection from it. whip his ass with the tamer whip and make sure he doesnt eat stuff while you're riding him. the "keep from eating " riding prompt is broken and doesnt work without tamers whip

Yeah, especially since you are normally limited to 10 custom portraits. The value that contains the portraits is negative for custom ones, and it you edit it manually, you can keep adding new face#.bmp files in your user folder over the normal limit. I'm not sure how far it lets you go, but you can definitely go over the normal limit. Changing the sprites should be more straightforward, from what I remember.

One other thing from memory: The value for the portraits are negative, but off by one. So face0.bmp is going to be -1, face1.bmp is -2, etc. Other than that, the game doesn't seem to cause problems with the custom file format as much as it does with system files, so it's a lot easier to use your User folder stuff rather than trying to edit sprites into the portrait character files.

Probably the main reason that people aren't forthcoming about the game mechanics is that you're expected to not know anything about it going into it, and the craziness is part of the fun starting out. Even if you try to read up on things beforehand, it ends up confusing and doesn't help much. The main thing to know is that unlike other games of the type, there is a lot of focus on non-combat stuff, especially starting out. So, just run around a lot and try to do stuff that isn't fighting, and when you run into stuff where you get stuck after that ask questions or look it up on the pastebin stuff or the wiki.

Before then I focused heavily on town quests, from non-combat skills to hunting quests. Also pets
Eventually you get to a strong enough point that dungeon diving is a breeze and also a good source of income, so you switch your focus

Can you tell me something about priest's playstyle?I'm already familiar with fighting-oriented classes' playstyles, such as Gunner and Archer, I know that Pianist has to suffer a lot to train his performing skill, then makes money off it and just lets his army of pets do the killing. I'm also more or less familiar with the general idea of Thief, although it was very difficult class for me at the very beginning so I never got too far as one. I know that farmers focus on those non-combat skills such as farming, cooking and whatnot and make money off it.

So what about the Priest? Also Warmage is something I have no clue how to play as

The absolute best way to get a pair of seven leagues(as well as an aurora ring) is to get a reward from the strange scientist.

Her inventory restocks like a regular shop for the various randarts she can give you, however, she always rerolls her entire fucking inventory whenever you bring it up.

So you simply visit her on a day she has artifact seven leagues in stock, then constantly bring up her inventory to reroll it for the best you can get from her.

Notably, she has a fairly limited amount of artifact names. My seven leagues and aurora ring are both named Talent Pain due to this.

This is also one of the easiest ways to get a randart with an invoke.

Priest allows you to get extremely tanky if you want to have some hard hitting pets. It's a bit more defensive than warmage, which like the others said is more based on buffing, debuffing and slapping shit.

I'm a fan of spirit cloth and rubynus, and most of my pets are in that and griffonscale. I didn't start caring about that till early 40's, because the precious items you can get up till then work fine for North Tyris. South Tyris and Lost Irva are where you need to start worrying about new weapons/armor that are better than most precious items

After that I spent time grinding the thieves guild since I was a member and a criminal. Just stole everything forever then killed the members for combat experience.

If you have 56ish? strength steal the dead/lighter trees from hunting jobs for 0 risk +pickpocketing. You can clear the wilderness and steal there too. Snow fields have a bit. Thisi s your replacement for stealing beds, tables and shit from towns.

Through the whole thing keep your potential up and keep stealing.
If you're already into the middle bit of the early-game just pile on the gold gear, two gold clubs, and +str randarts and it should(?) let you lift trees for loadsaXP. Keep the potential up and it'll rocket.

So what if a couple times a year you find something amazing and steal it. If you had a decent income you'd be able to invest and have great shopkeep inventories every 3ish days. You have stacks of blessed potions of cure corruption to trade for even fixedarts instead of getting wrecked trying to steal it. Hell, you'd even be able to afford to invest magic shops to rank 100+ and bless them so your potential isn't crap. I can assure you they don't take silk breast plates as payment for inventing and they don't sell for jack fuck anyway. Sure as fuck can't trade all the garbage people wear for potions of potential either.

Some day I'll be able to afford to bone/diamond/emerald/etc my decorative rings/amulets for better resist swaps but if I had a real income I'd already have a high-ranked moyer the crooked and just bought them outright.

Unlock gardening+cooking and keep potential up. Do the harvest time jobs. After roughly 50, less if you double the quota you'll be able to afford a farm to farm fruit and veggies. Sacc the vegg to Kumi and cook like a fiend. Keep dat fukken potential up. As your gardening rises you'll get more boosts to the harvested plants for the higher quality cooking to make loads. You'll be easily making 10,000 off a single muskmelon with reasonable cooking and gardening. If you do fishing , around like 20 fishing you'll reliably be getting good fish from grasshoppers to be making easily 800-2k a pop with 5k+ from the nicer stuff just from the grasshopper-tier bait and it's all uphill from there. With your savings and a little basic investment you'll get some more fishing/gardening/cooking/investment skill gear from shops and wandering shops/ More than that, you can turn the dosh into gear enchants

And another thing. Until you get barbecue sets, use food processors and shit to cook as much as possible. Watch that one vendor type that sells furniture as he'll rarely have some. You may have to recall while overweight, drop it, and get some weight lifting gear to move it around safely but the quality really helps your cash flow

As a warrior I would think that Opatos of the Earth would be a good choice considering the god gives bonuses to strength, constitution, has a cool pet reward, and the two handed hammer god reward is pretty strong.

Having said that though there really isn't a need to stick to only one god. Most players tend to earn enough favor with one god to get all the rewards and then jump to the next one that has relevant things they need at the time. For instance I would think that early on a player may want to worship Kumirori to help in gardening and then after all the rewards are gotten switch to another god.

Enchant your faggot gear. Get superb fire/cold resist out of scale/cloth materials and equipment bonuses then enchant them. Carry stacks of tradeable scrolls/deeds/high-value potions/junk jewelry with a high-value property/etc. Re-invest at least one jobs worth of money into a vendor every time you work your main town or house vendor. At a reasonable like rank 30 you'll start seeing medium quality materials or medium base types at the blacksmith at affordable prices.
