So where do I order the Good Stuff?

Last batch I got in the mail was bitter & not as dark green as I had hoped.

Teavana has some pretty good matcha, but it's expensive, unfortunately. $20 USD for a 40g tin or $35 for 80g.

And for the pleb, which tea is better? Bag or loose?

How am I supposed to do it? I spill the hot water and immediately remove the tea, or should I leave it in for a while?

>> No.13066270

>>13066223
1. Put the strainer fully in the cup with tea grounds/leaves in it.
2. Pour in the boiling water.
3. Let it steep for the recommended time.
4. Pull the strainer out, dump the tea grounds/leaves, and wash the strainer out.
5. JUM, POUR THE TEA.

yes, for some reason Americans tend to think all teas are prepared with boiling water. Must have been inherited from Britain making only black tea...

Oh, green tea. I assumed this was "Tea/General." I don't drink green tea, because I drink superior tea.

Even I know you don't use boiling water.

do you buy your tea "straight", as in, just pure green tea or do you prefer your tea mixed with other things?

i once bought a pack of pure Sencha green tea and it didn't really taste much. Though the green tea with cherry blossoms, Fleur de Geisha, is awesome.

Whats the appeal?

It tasted pretty bland IIRC

Mild, therapeutic taste. Won't exactly gain fans from those who like stronger teas like you seem to be.

Jasmine Green Tea a best
I do like Early Grey as well though, but definitely prefer stuff with a strong scent like Jasmine

I went to this family run Japanese Goods store I always go to, and they were selling these "imported" packets of green tea. Some were labeled organic, though there seemed to be different kinds of them. Most of them ranged up to 30 dollars for a tiny packet.

Why are these so expensive compared to regular green tea?

>> No.13071869

There's a number of green teas that are prepared with boiling water, mainly the roasted kinds, though.

Good matcha is bitter. That's why it's often served with a sweet, whether you've asked for it or not.

You don't strain matcha it's green tea, but it's not leafy green tea. See OP's pic. It's powder. You drop a scoop of powder in NON BOILING water and stir it. No straining.

Going to local east asian store tomorrow to see if they still sell some matcha I enjoyed.

They also sell pic related for 13,50 euros which is a sweet price but seems a bit cheap for longjing, Any thoughts?
