Sorry, I remembered a bit wrong.

Planned updates for 1.42:
- An item has been added that will automatically return undead minions to their coffins and your inventory after you leave a map. The item itself can hold 15 coffins (with no weight gain) and will store coffins that cause you to be burdened. Coffined minions that are returned to your inventory will be redeployed if there is room in the new map.

- Feather, Holy Shield, Hero, Concentration, and Divine Wisdom will give 10% buffs no matter what the spell level. Spell level will from now on only affect the duration (the growth of which has also been nerfed).

- The four bookcase furniture can now store 100 books, the potion rack 60 potions, and the bread display 20 bread. However, these furniture can only be used in the home or maid mansion, like the freezer.

- Four high level zombie enemies have been added, along with an evolution.

- Added two more unique NPCs to Lost Irva, with precious items.

- Changed the card deck interface a bit

- A cooking/fusion item will be received at the Maid Mansion on the 10th and 20th of each month. This item will teleport all allies to the player and share a stat-boosting meal (includes Speed and Luck). The item on the tenth will have a quality that is the average of the ingredients used, while the item on the twentieth will be of a constant quality. Allies that are interrupted during the meal lose their chance to obtain the growth

- Pet trainers will now give a flat 2-3% boost across all skills and attributes (previously, this had been 1% to 100 random skl/atr). The cost of pet trainers now depends on the Pet's INIT and will never change.

- Added alcohol intolerance. Vomiting and swaying probability will now slowly decrease as a character drinks more in their lifetime. Total drinks can be seen in the journal.

How will it be "amazing"? The only reason to drink alcohol is to induce vomiting, which this update will make less viable, and it's not like vomiting was a time-dependent thing that you need to be able to do in battle (which is the only thing that would make the sway/dim reduction useful).

skills. bigger cart is useful for
1. traveling marchents, but the only benefit from that is more gold
2. after dealing with banadits, you might end up with more cargo than your normal cart could handle even if at first you didn't carry anything at all. for that, bigger cart will prevent your speed from droping to 10.
3. at certain point, training skills is so costly that it is better done with skill points rather than silver coins- at such a point, you might as well use the medals for cart.

Only once though, after that, I recommend killing the second one, taking the monster out, leaving the map, and then bringing it back. This is how you get easy corpses that give resistances.

it's a vanilla thing. In vanilla, your level determined how strong enemies were, not your fame. It's completely useless if you're in elo+, aside from grinding your learning to extreme heights to get a ton of skill points per level.

I think it's for suppressing your level on your gene mutant so that they stay low level to minimize the number of slots they have (mutant gains slots per 3 levels) and get to Dr Gavela and get as many slots as allowed by before leveling like normal.

The reason is this is because Dr Gavela will not add more slots past a certain amount so by getting to him with low amount of slots you maximize the number of slots you have before you add even more through leveling.

game start: dv, res, and speed makes fairy a good child
mid game: high speed is obsolate due to ap being able to buy speed, need to rely on spirit cloth equipment rather than artifacts, number of pets is reached the cap of 15 for all races now
end game: scrolls of flying means artifacts equipment so the only real weakness of the fairies is no two hand, which is kinda bummer because fairy claymore could be cool

In the late game you have access to the artifact fusion system, and by then what was the fairies' main strength also becomes obsolete due to any race having access to it. It's not hard to get Superb resistance on everything if you stocked up scrolls of gain attribute during all the previous hours of gameplay. Equipment wise, as you say, you can use scrolls of flying to make artifacts usable, but getting anything under 1s weight is a real hassle and I can't see myself doing that with a full set. In my opinion fairy is good for games not intended to get too far or if you can inherit appropriate equipment but otherwise they gradually get outclassed and any strengths that would have justified its selection are lost.

you mean, gain materials right? by the time you reach lost irva your traveling alone should have made all of your skills at least level 10, and at any rate you probably picked the crafting skills early for stuff like pot of fusion with tokens of friendship, carpentry for common quest rods etc

anyway, same can be said about any race- in the later game, you can buy whatever made this race special. easy start means fairies have better kickoff tough.

Life in a word, suffering

Well I guess I didn't want to do dungeons anyway.... So what's the inside track on pickpocket? I know the identify wizards and wizards of elea consistently have rings and amulets. Warriors of elea rarely have panties I heard that medusa/lich often have rings/speed rings. Right now my practical weight limit appears to be about 2s in the day on awake targets. At night it's about 7s. But I can't really get anywhere with it because generic NPC's have garbage and I can't piss off the static NPC's like citizens/shopkeeps too much cause once again, poor outlaw with no healer.

I don't see any way derphy will be able to support me so is it time to pack up camp and go mash wait in the puppy cave until I get enough corpse buries to stop being an outlaw. As it stands, it looks like thief is more of a stock fighter that gets extra rings from certain monsters. All the wiki stuff constantly warns against disarming/stealing shields from things you're fighting because they'll stomp you with Two-hand/martial arts. AFAIK as I invest in shopkeeps their stats will rise and gear pool will be better too so yeah woo they have a servants rubynus composite helm of nerve (####) but I'll never be able to steal it in a reasonable amount of time even with waiting 17 nights for him to sleep during 7pm-7am for maxed chances. Then there's that afaik gloves are the only easy source of +pickpocket and it's extremely rare if even possible of an attribute for daggers/leg slots leaving very little ways to prop it up.

At that point it makes me wonder, why not just not be a thief and be a fighter prostitute? I'll get all the money and more than I'd need to buy such an item but I'll have been able to afford absurd levels of investment and enchanting in the process. Even better, I wouldn't have siphoned all that time and plat into pickpocket

Can you guys share tips and your experiences with thief runs?

Being a plain old pickpocket is not a good way to power in Elona. Or even financial stability. Being a plain old anything is a bad idea in Elona. Eventually every character needs to branch out. Either that or become full petmaster.

On the topic of pickpocketing, it's just not a good way of getting equipment besides rings and other low weight equipment. Pickpocketing is more for scrolls and potions and miscellaneous goodies that don't weigh much. Trying to steal kite shields or claymores is just looking for ways to get people to smash your face in.

Also, you probably know this by now from your experience with the rubyness jacket, but you should leave valuable stuff at home if you fear any retaliation from who you're stealing from.

Despite all your troubles, don't give up. The reason why you're not a fighter prostitute is because you decided to be a thief, a thief who pickpockets and even joined the thief's guild, not a prostitute. Your character is who you want it to be. If you want power and wealth more quickly for your character, prostitution is an option. However it comes at the cost of your character's, well, character.

Though I guess you could roleplay your goblin falling on such hard times he resorts to prostitution. He'd put on comically whorish makeup, get shopkeepers drunk to seduce them, then finally lets them do the deed to his small tight goblin anus as he tries to, but fails to hold back the tears from the pain.

Somber thoughts, I'm glad I started a Juere fighter/performer who stuck to honest work and became a famous ensemble performer. Her mom was a notorious whore though who left her many heirlooms to not have to resort to the life she did to support that.

Don't even remember as my current character is years old now as I remember and forget Elona when playing it, but much lower than what you're reporting as a prostitute.

Generally, I remember getting my gold from bells primarily. If you dungeoned a lot, they showed up a lot. Since Elona+ nerfed performing, gold was far less prominent from party time quests.

Midgame, I remember fishing a lot and cooking sushi as I had a lot of fishing gear. In combination with the machine lure, sushi became extremely easy to sell in the shop.

Being good at killing shit pays off more late game when you can just trivially clear a dungeon and get hundreds of thousands of gold from the boss at the end of it.

You also get the pride that comes from success without being a prostitute.

pickpocket is for lightwaight items like treasure maps. also, do pick up a teleportion means in case you need to make a sharp exit. also, if you drop something upon your death it might still be there next time you visit that map, and people tend to forget you ware a theif after you exit and renter a map

stealing for the sake of stealing a bad idea even when the conditions are ideal, but there are times when it is recomended: lightwiaight items that you will use yourself (like potions of potential) gamestones and ores you will give your pet (when they sell it for training they sell it as if it wasn't stolen) and 'i want it' items (as well as quests)

a good way of earning back karma is by giving potions of cure curruption to peal mom in noyel. you can get one for 10 medals in the workshop, and you get medals from bosses of random dangeons.
also, for a bit of cash one of the sisters in noyel can absolve you of sin, just so you know.

Town bards have instrument, potentially a stratavarius though you need to kill them if they do not so that a new bard is rerolled at spawn. I notice caster type tends to have rings.

Then there are some somewhat more obvious ones like Yerles conbat (sic) plane having grenades (heck anything that has yerles usually has modern weapons).

Honestly, I mostly just steal to use (or trade in the case of sox) rather than to sell as I earn a lot more from raiding high level dungeons. Touch of sleep helps a lot for pickpocketing.

The item rerolling is pretty much the main reason why I sell everything in the shop.

I'm late game too and gold is effectively trivial to gain. I've gotten hermes blood and flying scrolls from the shop rerolling stuff so I throw unwanted stuff in there rather than just sell for gold directly. Cure corruption potions and superior material scrolls are somewhat common.

The shop rank thing is the secondary reason, having every single rank be 1 except for shop annoys me.

I know it's been answered to death already but,

Not even 3 even at like level 10. You get a good 4-5ish thousand gold from doing any low level dungeon you can clear with a bent fork naked. From which you'll get more useless crap to cut down on dungeoneering costs on the next one. Animal parts will add anywhere from 1,000 for 10,000+ depending on your anatomy skill, kitchen knives in you ranged slot/weapon, randart +anatomy gear, space and if your god benefits it.

Very Low level jobs will consistently churn out 500-2,000ish gold and for yowyn gardening jobs you at least double the quota you'll get a pretty respectable chunk of dosh a town. Meaning about 3000-8000ish gold a town. Think about that. 10ish scores without blowing money on garbage and you've got it.

The biggest obstacle is your impulse buying of things you "need" and dying to fighting shit you shouldn't in too hard of areas because you skimped on gear enchants/aren't spending enough on potions/and not running before it's OHFUCKSHIT.

Stop spending, keep earning, and you'll have it very soon. If you can't handle that, drop everything else from your inventory, load up on pets, take some incog scrolls, and try to snag pickpocket from the thieves guild then occasionally steal kitty banks from noyel after teleporting all the dudes away from the general vendor room. Then put in however many sheckles it rates every morning whether you can "afford" it or not.

Once you have it keep up with the gardening jobs and reinvesting plat into cooking, gardening, and finding +cooking/+gardening gear for runaway sheckle flow. you can easily start getting 10,000+ per well cooked muskmelon.

It's only 45,000 gold pre-negotiation champ, make us proud.

It's worth mentioning that 100 negotiation is the max amount you need for full benefits buying and selling on your character and further negotiation only reduces the services from NPCs.

Also gold is still free training for your pets at with kitty banks or dojo so it's not completely worthless.

Finally, you can artificially inflate a shopkeeper's negotiation with artifact fusion so it is not entirely mandatory to get a Mra to be a millionaire. Though if you do get it, it shouldn't be a problem to transfer the item to it (and give it the proper slot for the item if needed)

for non-equipment items, that is.

I neglect my shop because it hasn't really benefited me (1 morgia and a speed upper in the amount of items that it's taken me to get to rank 3), and so I always sell off equipment myself, the expensive ones especially because they train my negotiation, even though I get jewed.

your harvest looks really good, but that could be because you either planted or harvested during the rain, which gives a pretty substantial bonus. I'm surprised you didn't mess up any dishes with 55 cooking

melon grand parfait +10 sells for around 40k on maxed negotiation, but for each plant you need to roll ~85% chance to not wilt, ~10% chance for melon ~50% chance for +10 and maybe 25% chance for parfait. not exactly a reliable source of income when a dungeon dive earns you six figures in less than the amount of time it takes to grow

Reinvest more of your gold into gear enchants, potions, and fucking out of hard areas before you blow all your shit on popcorn. Once you have gear on all your slots and +1/+2 you should be fine to grind low level dungeons/puppy cave which will let you get your combat skills to a meaningful level. Past that it's having consumables, reinvesting your dosh into meaningful boosts to your gear, and having swaps and shit for bolstering resists in a pinch. And once you can AP train speed, ditch your mount too, unless it can ride you without cutting your speed.
