Two main routes and a bunch of individual H scenes depending on your choices.

Wanko to Kurasou is probably the best-written visual novel with a fan translation project that actually looks to be going somewhere. Although it doesn't have a huge, complicated plot and backstory with a crapload of pseudo-philosophy that would make any actual philosophers wince, it does what it does extremely well. As you'd expect from the person who wrote the Triangle Heart series, really. I hope Taka does a good job with it - pretty certain he will, given Triangle Heart is his favourite eroge series, and he gave Wanko to Kurasou a 97% or something on EGS.

Many of the major plot points in the game deal with the sub-human rights that the people-like animals have. From reproductive rights, to licensed rights, to rights of property, etc. They are owned, have monetary values, and circulate on markets. Some are sexually abused, etc. At one point a kidnapping occurs, and because the kidnapee isn't human she has far less police/state resources put behind it than if she were human, which agonizes the other characters because they have very human relationships. Plot is actually quite well thought out and deep in places.

They're treated really almost exactly like you would treat a pet. To the families who they are part of they are worth a great deal more than money and the familial bonds and loyalties are quite deep. The crazy cat/dog lady of the game's pet calls her "mom" and like many pet owners the owner sees the pet as her child. Pets that breed well, have a better pedigree, have more intelligence or licenses are more valuable etc. I don't know about depreciation (their lifespan is like real animals, achieve adulthood and maintain appearance until death unlike humans who grey/wrinkle,) but they can hold menial jobs if they are qualified such as working for the police, working as a show dog, working in a nursing home as companionship/comfort, or light labor if they're large enough.
