I have to question your ear for music. Everything about the album is Shibayan. The point I would agree with is that there aren't any impactful vocal tracks, though. Without the grand scale of tracks like 11.3 Magic or Desert Years to stand out, the easygoing, rolling instrumental tracks might grow stale.

I get it if he wants to make Bossa Nova music, but I don't see where why somebody would would hear Touhou music and draw inspiration for it. Electronic and rock are natural contenders for Touhou inspired music but obviously overused.

In fact, I might not be doing myself myself a favor looking only into Touhou/doujinshi releases for electronic music, I might do better elsewhere. I just want electronic music that's melodic in the same way a lot of retro video game music is melodic.

I also think it happens to fit jazz rather naturally, but perhaps that's just because I really like the jazz arranges I've heard.

In terms of difficulty of arrangement, I'm most impressed by stuff like Casket, who turn it into genuine-ish (I've heard) Irish folk music.

Pretty disappointed with the Shibayan album, the album itself wasn't that bad but it lacked kind of on the vocal side. His collaboration SUPERNOVA with twinke*twinkle was much, much better. Listen to that album if you haven't yet, it's really good.

v0 has a higher frequency range, but it has more posterization in the 15-20khz range, and the >20khz frequencies are so posterized that it's disgusting.
v0 is worse unless you have high grade audiophile gear, including an IIR DAC (since a good FIR DAC for resampling >20khz would have way too much latency to be marketable), and even then it's just a sidegrade.
Really, if you give a shit about audio quality you should be ripping in lossless, or at least a good lossy coded like opus.

Poor mixing is part of the problem but you can open it in audacity or something and it's easy to see that the entire track has been compressed to hell and back. Not sure why people still think it's a good idea to do this.

Kind of horrifying to me; EDM is by definition full of synths and four-on-the-floor drum grooves that hardly suffer from overcompression and aggressive mixing whereas anything with real instruments and more intricate writing have all kinds of subtleties that get screwed with the same kind of mix. It's pretty disgusting how that's leaking over into other genres and causing people to deliberately or inadvertently make nice music sound like trash.

More or less, just go into mixing thinking "I need to make everything audible and balanced" instead of "I need to turn everything up to eleven and break the knob." Less aggressive compression and more balanced mixing is never a bad idea. You can always bring the dynamic range down later but once it's gone it's gone.
