I think that it's fucking ridiculous yet unsurprising that there are continuous generals for a fucking MUSIC VIDEO. The threads (and the fact that they exist) are the most cringeworthy shit ever. You'd think that any 4chan user would have seen hentai or at least hardcore 3D porn by now, and yet here they are going fucking crazy over 2D girls in microbikinis twerking. There's thousands of H animations more explicit than that, but they don't seem to care since it's not in MTV music video form.

Some people will claim that they love the music. Well, what the fuck, have you never heard Teddyloid before? PSG aired in just 2010 and you haven't heard his music? And even if you haven't, it's just derivative, by the numbers EDM bullshit that you can find on Beatport or YOUR LOCAL RADIO STATION. It's actually strictly inferior to any established EDM artists, but that's just comparing apples to shittier apples.

But most people will refer to the fact that it's so CRAZY and WACKY. How fucking new can you be? How can you even have this attitude towards Japanese things, on 4chan, when it's nearly 2015? Is the craziest thing you ever saw American Idol or Hell's Kitchen or something? It's just fucking animated nudity plus random provocative shit. Oh wow, she's vomiting in his mouth, sooo shocking. Wow, they're exploding into green goo. Wow, he died. These things should not even make a 4chan user bat an eye, but here these fags are, going crazy over the anime equivalent of a Lady Gaga music video, complete with easily digestible electronic pop music.

And finally, let's give an honorable mention to the minority of people who like it because it has some tangential relation to Anno, and therefore they must dissect it and explore it's deep anti-otaku themes. That's just fucking gay, please kill yourselves.

It's a simple message, spergmeister.

Take a seat, I'm 31 years old and I'm about to school your n00b ass.

The guy once had a girlfriend and was a complete normal sonuvabitch, until one day where he started to get addicted into computer games, visual novels, anime and mango.
This eventually caused a rupture in his normalfag relationship and he lost his grill.
Now he just withers away, wasting every single day of his life completely immersed in anime shit.
This has become a spiral of self-hatred and depression as well as a scape-hole to forget what the life he threw away. And though he sometimes remembers what was and tries to fight his current condition, his depression is too much and he just ends up being conformed by taking it easy again today, tomorrow and every day after.
The video basically tells this story and his struggle. It's pretty deep, yo. Shits off da hook.

Gods before the captcha and new topic time cap existed that erased dozens of pages of /b/ and /a/ filth from /jp/. Dying out one after the other the last two fought a losing struggle against anon radio, hot glue, the whines of the shitposters posting racist and offensive materials as their threads are removed without remorse.

Eventually all of them were promoted because mods didn't like dealing with the complaints. They hired new ones and after weeding through hundreds they now have a small and simple group watching over /jp/ only watching for racists and non-/jp/ material.

The line most of society takes that indulging in fiction is fine, but the substitution of fiction for real life is unhealthy. It's probably true, just most of us don't (or pretend not to) care.

It's a pretty damn fine piece of animation work regardless of what you think of the content. Studio Khara has some top-notch hands.

The actual content is what you'd expect from something coming from Anno's studio. You even see the Eva girls representing the sort of otaku co-opting that distorted Anno's initial message to begin with in Eva (i.e. to stop crippling oneself with escapism). This is essentially an ultra-poppy condensed version of Eva. I think as a music video, the concept elevates Teddyloid's music, but in the converse, I think Teddyloid is dragging down the message with his trashy-club aesthetic. Actually, the whole hypersexualization aspect is dragging this idea down since it doesn't really represent the ideal otaku sexual female (they're much too sexualized and forward; otaku like more passive, docile females--moe girls over club hoes). Having such aggressive female characters doesn't really complement the idea of otaku escapism as masturbatory fantasy (e.g., a title like Me! Me! Me!); you can kind of see hints of it, as in how the anime girl resembles his supposed girlfriend, but it's weak at best.

Anyway, my two cents. I actually was planning to watch this because Studio Khara. It was alright. I liked the animation. Didn't really care for the music or the theme, but they're more like just a backbone to showcase the animation anyway. All i know is that i wanna fugg the computer girl.

I know. If the world were a completely pleasant place, there wouldn't be a need for escapism. The world is shit, yeah. But using fiction as escapism doesn't help it either, and it even harms your mental sanity and worsens problems in the long term, both for yourself and everyone. Better choices are either fight to change it, or to find an alternate lifestyle away from what the media and society tells you. Do whatever the fuck you want, just don't harm yourself.

Of course, I'm in no position to say this, but it's what I genuinely think. We're doing it wrong.

This is the core message of the video and Eva. You'll notice that there's no resolution to the narrative. This is because using escapist mediums to escape from escapist mediums is inherently contradictory. The satire will fall flat for otaku who are hungry for more porn and for normals, it will just be preaching to the choir. You can see the response from normies which boils down to a very detached sort of amusement (CRAZYwwww) by the whole display. At least in Eva, Anno had tried to dissolve the narrative and switch the medium and generally shock the viewer to try to get the point across. Eva was uncomfortable. This is just...meh.

Work is harmful as well because if you work you lose. Everything we do is escapism, we're just escaping to different places. People try to use money as something to make them feel safe, and weebs and nerds use anime and games to make themselves feel safe. They're doing the same shit so who am I to judge. Living one way just makes you unable to understand the other and even more problems are created because we can't understand that what we're doing is just another word for what they're doing. Using the extremes, being a shut in is just as harmful as being an overworker. You alienate yourself from people and the world because you're chasing just one thing, security and comfort. Which is why I don't like you using only fiction escapism as the unhealthy thing. It's easy to pick on the video game playing nerds when we refuse to look in the mirror.
The only unhealthy thing is trying to survive instead of simply living. We make our own problems.

It subverts the sexy girl archtype in a fairly lazy way. "Take something everyone likes, and make it creepy monsters that the protagonist confronts with fear and violence" is not only uninspired, but kinda immature. There must be some way to make tits and ass unsettling besides a gross-out. It doesn't say anything new or interesting about male desire or sexuality, or really anything at all. If it does say something, it's just the old femme fatale schtick of "Guys are powerless to their sexual desires, aren't they?", which isn't particularly edifying.

Not to say that it has to say something of value, I suppose. It's a very slick video overall--it just felt like it had the pretense of something a bit deeper. I'm just disappointed at all the missed opportunities.

>I assumed it's what's underneath the surface of the cuteness and moe and that hyper sexuality took a more aggressive form because it's ruling his life.
That would be a misunderstanding of the otaku syndrome. Cartoon sexuality doesn't dominate or control the otaku. It's the fantasy and escapism of it all, sexual or otherwise. I do like how the media literally consumes the guy in this ironic metaphor, but to focus so heavily on such a stereotypical notion of hypersexuality undermines the message.

Otaku narratives are not primarily about sex, but rather fantasy. They want comfort. They want the impossible. They also sex too, of course, but they want it according to specific rules. Moe is a powerful topic and theme because it codes sexuality into its symbols and returns a contradiction: innocence and propriety interwoven with implied sexuality. Like how a "miko" is simultaneously a sexual fetish object and a symbol of innocence and purity. In the video, however, we really just have unambiguous femme fatale sex objects doing femme fatale sex things--i see no moe and hardly any cuteness beyond the rather generic female art style (done with intent I guess, but underutilized). So, underneath the sexy anime girl is a monster of sorts. It's not like that hasn't already been explored with more finesse by other artists. I just get the feeling they wasted the potential by making it mainstream-friendly.

There's really not that much to discuss here: guy becomes consumed by the thing he consumes. Hella cartoon butts that i wanna fugg. The end. But I guess it IS more than you would expect from a music video, and the animation quality is top-notch, so congrats Khara, I guess.

The first encounter I interpreted as just part of a wet dream sequence because of how explicitly representative the last scene in it was of ejaculation. The subsequent encounters felt more like they were trying to represent real women, something he's attracted to but thinks are hostile to him. It might seem like a stretch, but when he encounters them in definable locations they are out to get him. As well, the girlfriend both transforms into the alien and is absorbed by it which I think is showing she becomes something he doesn't understand when they go their separate ways. Since the dancers are similar sort of being to the transformed girlfriend, I feel if she is representing something real that they are too.

What's ruling his life, his addiction, feels more shown by the unmasked alien version of his girlfriend since it both overwhelms him and actually consumes him.

>The first encounter I interpreted as just part of a wet dream sequence because of how explicitly representative the last scene in it was of ejaculation
No the first encounter definitely has significance. It's something like: inoffensive female character >> sex symbol >> monster.

>the girlfriend both transforms into the alien and is absorbed by it which I think is showing she becomes something he doesn't understand when they go their separate ways
I think it's more like he's using cartoon females as a substitute for his ex or whatever, so when he comes close, she transforms into or is consumed/absorbed by them.

The "real life" locations aren't really real as it's played out like a video game. I think he's trying to get out, but in the end he can't. I don't think this is incompatible with a "fear of females" reading, but if he had a girlfriend at one point, I don't think that really supports it.

I actually think it's quite a fine video. On second viewing I think it's great if you appreciate it as a music video and just that. I think I'm just hating how memey it has gotten and people hailing it like some sort of masterpiece or "mindfuck". pls.

I don't deny significance, but I think dancers at the start are something separate from when he sees them later. It showed what he thought he highly attractive whilst clearly showing he's an otaku. The fact that he only shows actual surprise during what I felt was the dream sequence was when the alien moved towards him makes me feel that he was aroused from the characters at the start and that she already began as highly erotic. The transformation from the lightly colored dreamscape to the darker one certainly indicates a change, but his lack of immediate response at it feels more like a change in the sexual expression rather than the introduction of it.

For the break-up scene, it felt to me that he walked away because when a challenge appeared it was easier to just indulge in escapism which then consumes him. The juxtaposition of her crying at what remains of him then transforming and drifting away whilst still in the introspective part makes me feel that's what he thinks she becomes rather than something tainted by the lens of his addiction. The subsequent absorption later at the dance-club space station feels like it's reinforcing her becoming something he doesn't understand and she's continuing on with her life in a way like the other girls there.

I don't think he has a strict fear of females, but more of a rejection of the outside world in favor of escapism which is why he can't beat his addiction. He can't get away from it in isolation.

You know someone is a normie if they save baby pictures to their hard drive.

>The satire will fall flat for otaku who are hungry for more porn and for normals, it will just be preaching to the choir. You can see the response from normies which boils down to a very detached sort of amusement (CRAZYwwww) by the whole display.
At least they're honest, liking the only things worth appreciating. Don't know why this ground is continuously retreaded and people dissect it because it has some relevance to them or feel a need to justify a boner.

"Oh, those pathetic otaku and NEETs and hikkis, stuck in a rut."

It's self-deprecation at this point. The video itself is too distracting to get a message across. If it had a message to heed, it's self-defeating. It is entertaining, for sure.

Doesn't matter, message falls flat because it just feeds into what it criticizes (apparently). The audience to which it has the most relevance jerk off to it and you nerds are jerking off to it in another manner.

Once you've exhausted all your loads, you'll move on.

Isn't the fact that people found the blue haired girl sexy just backfire the message?

It is not. But she is overbearingly sexy. Like something out of a retarded smut manga written by ShindoL. It is decadence. And it gets the message across, since she is something that men should not prefer, thu the gunfight.

not all people who watch anime fap every chance they get you know, and most of them take this sort of video seriously because it relates to their situation and the feels pour in and by the end thy're like: 'Whoa.... the fuck just happened' and they realise how much they're like the dude in the video because they play it over analyse it and realise the meaning and message of it

And then it wears off because it's another opportunity to jack off to one's own misery. There are have been more competent and biting critiques of such material. But this has tits and ass and action and techno music so WOAH.

Or they were simply unavailable or not interested. At some point you just stop looking for one, unless you're some kind of masochist who enjoys rejection?

It's nothing like the music where the guy had one girl that was enough in love with him to cry while falling on her knees when he decided to ditch her.

I despise the archetype of the male character being afraid of the affectionate female. It can be funny and cute when it's about kids. But it's not funny or cute when both are sexually mature. Real men wouldn't run away from a woman like that.

I got off work and wanted to reply to this guy even though our posts got deleted.
By the suburbs, nothing is under 700 or 800USD, just for rent and not including utilities. There is no fucking way I'm paying that much for a place where I'll spend less conscious time than at work.
I have friends pooling together to pay 1400 a month rent for a 3 bedroom place in an average neighborhood. 400usd wouldnt even get you a trailer park rent.
You are some extremely sheltered kid thas has no idea how much rent is, or some bumpkin from a flyover state.

>Actually, the whole hypersexualization aspect is dragging this idea down since it doesn't really represent the ideal otaku sexual female (they're much too sexualized and forward; otaku like more passive, docile females--moe girls over club hoes).

This is the point, I thought. Masturbatory fantasy taken so far that it eclipses the otaku's traditional values. The video is meant to shock the viewer with disgusting, vulgar displays of sexuality.
