Does /jp/ drink?

Are these sake prices legit?

Just buy a bottle of 100 proof blue label vodka instead.

>>12794013

Why, isn't Sake unique in some way?

Are you a drinker? It is pretty bland and not that strong. I like Soju better.

If you are drinking it just for the experience that is another thing.

>> No.12794188

Don't buy 3 bottles of sake if you've never had it before. Really, it's not that good.

I don't know about those brands, but that looks expensive.

Not a drinker, but looking for a drink i can really enjoy long term.

I will be trying allot of things but Sake will be the first.

What is price range considered expensive with drinks?

>> No.12794201

If you've had one Sake, you've tried them all.

spend $70-$115 on one bottle, so you find out whether you like sake at all (and by trying the "good stuff", you will have a definitive answer).

That is a tad expensive. Can you buy some locally? in the US they sell sake in most liquor stores.

I would try one bottle. I would also try Soju as well. As well as Gin. If you don't drink disregard my 100 proof vodka comment.

if you're lucky your local wine shop may sell small bottles of good grade sake.

like $40 for a 12 oz ish bottle. sake is strange stuff, seems you gotta be japanese to really dig it.

Liquor stores will carry ~$20ish bottles of sake. Some will even have 375mL bottles (1/2 the size of normal) which would be even cheaper.

>> No.12794230

>>12794003

At that price I would rather get 2 bottles of good decent wine.

How can sake both be watery AND dry tasting? Is it magic?

>> No.12794687

>>12794659
Sulfuric Acid is watery and it burns, eve though it is not fire.

Please reconsider your alcohol vice, jay pea! It's both more expensive than simply not imbibing, and ruinous to your health and mental state.

Please be the virtuous and miserly person I know you can be!

>ruinous to your health and mental state.

Unscientific horseshit, since you don't specify quantity over period of consumption, vs. total amount over period of usage. It's dangerous for you if you're draining a bottle a night, not a shot a night.

Anyway, Sake smells sweet, but doesn't taste as good as you would think being rice wine and all. It's not bad, but I would rather just buy red wine or vodka.

>> No.12795917

The only good use I can see for sake is for cooking. It's so damn fragrant and weak that it really shouldn't be bought if you just want to get a buzz going.

Good to try with friends or for a single experience I suppose, but don't go buying 3 bottles if you've never tried it before. I just buy a semi cheap bottle every 6 or so months to use in various Japanese meals and sauces, and if there's any left I'll finish it off though it really wont do much for you unless you're a light weight. Try Japanese beer if you want to drink slightly cheaper (though mind you it's still pretty pricy with most brands that aren't Sapporo), I recommend Asahi Black if you ever find a Japanese restaurant that has it.
