I just got the default "smooth knit". I don't really know how to say it compares, but it's decently smooth and soft while still feeling somewhat durable. The must have changed the shipping thing, because when I bought it I just paid 5k yen flat. Oh well. If they still ship like they did, it's worth the money because I remember getting it ridiculously fast. Seems like they shipped it a couple hours after I paid and I got it by the end of the week.

Have had a A&J Feel smooth for a long time, but got a DHR6000 this week. I can say the hype is real. This one damn fine pillow. Pretty large atleast for now, so if your dakis material doesnt strech at all its going to be a thight fit.

I get that, but like I said, I've never noticed much of a difference in quality among the ones that I own. Either the difference isn't enough for somebody who isn't super anal to notice, or I'm super lucky and have some of the few good bootlegs. I find the first one to be more likely.

In my experiences I've found often the image on bootlegs is printed at a lower resolution, resulting in a slight blur to the final product. This has never been so bad that it's been an issue for me and the manufacturing quality (sewing, materials etc) is pretty reasonable for the price.

Mine just get dry-humped into oblivion anyway, it doesn't really bother me that I'm getting off on a $30 bootleg instead of a $200 genuine original.

Has anyone tried making a shirt from one of these?

Finally got this nico I ordered for the single's day sale off alibaba. It's slolita. The quality is not bad, but I've noticed that it seems to be smoother in one direction than the other. It's also considerably thinner than some of the others I have. Pretty middle of the road.

I've also noticed it seems longer than some of the other ones I bought, even the other 160x50cm ones, so there's some annoying slack. Weird.

So my Daki pillow case came in today, I thought it was coming with a pillow so now I need to buy one. I've checked bed bath and beyond and wallmart with no luck. And online a 63x20 (160cmx50cm) is hard to find. Its usually either too short or too long. Where can I get an exact fitting pillow without paying an ungodly amount?

The royal pillow I bought (cluster fiber) has fit every case I've had (official cospa, うさぎごや企画, hobbyheart bootleg) just fine except for the slolita one. That one seems to be a bit longer than 160. It's a good pillow, especially for the price.

I bought the pillows through a store called "worthyplus" on alibaba (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/718061).). It was pretty convenient and everything arrived just fine, though it did take them like a week and a half to ship it out and I had to manually extend the deadline. There are two main slolita stores on alibaba as far as I can tell, one is worthyplus and the other is "Guangzhou Slolita Co., LTD" (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1161594).). I don't know if the second is official, but it's worth noting that when I bought these a month ago the second store was called like "mary" or something, and I wasn't able to tell if either were official. They seemed to have changed their name.

I also bought one of the small rectangular pillows from the other store (that's now called slolita) just to sort of "test the waters", and the two products appear to be of the same quality, material, etc. So no matter which store you choose, you shouldn't get ripped off with a non-slolita product. Their selection differs slightly as do their prices, so check them both out.

Everything I bought was 2WT, which at first felt kind of weird to me because it seemed like it was smoother in one direction than the other. After having slept with it for a few nights, it feels a lot more comfortable although it is a bit warm for me (living in Florida). The thin fabric doesn't feel especially cool. Overall, it's better than hobbyheart but not as nice as the p80 うさぎごや企画 one I have (mostly due to thickness). Like I said, there is some slack that isn't there with my other pillows, so I guess it runs a few centimeters longer than most other 160cm cases. Overall it's a good buy if you like their designs, they offer free shipping. And I think slolita's designs are mostly original for their pillows, so it's not a "bootleg" in that sense (someone correct me if I am wrong, I know their wall scrolls are all bootleg).

I am in the process of writing up a Taobao guide, just waiting for better weather so I can take better pictures of the dakis to review. But basically to summarize, there is an option (the yellow box) for international forwarding services, and you check that, and it tells the individual TaoBao sellers to ship to the forwarding center instead, and then you can consolidate your shipments and tell them to ship them abroad.

The handling fee for the daki ONLY is $2. There is a separate forwarding cost.

They don't tell you what the consolidated shipping cost will be until you select which items to ship, because they need to weigh the package and the dimensions then. When all your dakis arrive the forwarder, you go into your TaoBao account, select all of them to forward, and the forwarder will give you the amount to pay. See Taobao3.png. ¥168.55 is the amount for international shipping, on top of the ¥1402.20 for 4 dakis.

In my case, when Chinese artists also sell on Japanese sites Tora / Melon / etc., the cost is much cheaper for identical quality. I have As109 Taiga from TaoBao and it is comparable to the As109 Shinobu I got from Tora, but I paid ¥15763 total, which is about $133 instead of ~$55 dollars.

Many of the sites listed are in English. The one that's been discussed recently is Chinese, not Japanese, so you'll have to probe around and guess, or look up guides. Ordering through alibaba in English is possible for many stores, though, and the prices aren't much worse than doing the whole proxy thing through taobao itself.

Interesting. Does it hold the stuffing balance good? I noticed with my current one the stuffing slowly goes away from where I put my legs and requires occasional rebalance.

I also noticed the tendency of the stuffing to go to head area (the opposite side of zipper). I worked it around by putting the cover other way around though.

>>12791987 here. Pic related is my first dakimakura, the one I've been sleeping with since a month. It's unbelievable how comfortable it can be. Cover is an old Taiwanese one got on Mandarake. They call it "Cozy smooth", should be equivalent to Smooth Knit (that is, stretchable in one direction only - width-wise). Has a nice smooth feel though. I'll compare to 2WT when I'll switch with the ReiMari one.
Stuffing is custom made: the inner core is made of latex foam, the one used for mattresses (I was able to get some scrap from a mattress factory for free). After cutting it clean into shape, I wrapped it in several layers of compressed polyester sheets. Everything is then put inside a cotton cover I've sewn myself (not that difficult). It's probably a bit on the firm side (though still soft), which is not bad for me as it offers great support when sleeping. I'll test how it performs in the long run. Should it fail, I'll treat myself to a DHR6000.
