Alicesoft's games tend to have a static main sprite and a dynamic small facial sprite on the bottom for facial expressions.

Dies Irae has multiple different editions so you should either pick Acta est Fabula release (not the -Scharlachrot Grun- version as it's not the complete game) or Amantes Amentes all-ages edition. It has few new BGMs and side-stories, but removed H-scenes and slight censorship of dialogue and some violent CGs.

I haven't read anything in a while, but a friend gave me a copy of World End Economica some time ago, and I finally decided to install it and read it.

It was pretty interesting. Kinda short at only around 13 hours, maybe missing CG's in some places that could've used more of them, and they don't delve deep enough into most of the characters they have, but it doesn't overstay its welcome and I'm a sucker for the humankind colonizes another planet setting.

The ending was pretty good too, too bad only one episode is translated so far, because I definitely want to read more of it. And Lisa is pretty cute, to boot!

I would say visual novels have more potential as a medium. VNs have much less of a time constraint than an anime typically has, so there is more time for world building, getting emotionally invested in the story, and character development. Also, being able to add something like an E-mote system, and various types of game-play, gives VN developers a lot of capability in how they want to tell, and have the reader interact with, the story. VNs can also give you much more freedom in how the reader decides to experience it. Being able to mute a certain character's voice, turning off the background music, picking what outfit or hairstyle you want a girl to have on in her sprite, being able to name the protagonist, etc.

I was pretty active trying to hype up games I liked like Aselia, Sharin, Ayakashi, Extravaganza back then from the very beginning of /jp/ and even before but times change.
At the very least it feel like there are more people who are actually familiar with the media now than back then, that's also true for myself.

I still like all these titles but it's true that as a newbie it's easy to be impressed. G-senjou for example, Sharin was one of the first eroge I did and was extremely impressive for me and I actually had to live through G-senjou getting pushed back again and again with the demo hyping me a great deal.
Now when I actually did the rest of the game the infamous twist turned me off but being a big Loose-boy fag at that time I was more lenient.
I actually did G-senjou again a few years later with more eroge under my belt and yeah it was definitely a lot less impressive
Same for Gekkou for example, it was easy to be impressed by Sugita voicing Romeo and the cool art but when you get down to it the dull writing and bad pacing make for a pretty mediocre game, I still think Noel's route is nice though

Can't say I understand this experience. Sure, I was really impressed with the first two or three VNs I played, but then I played a shit one and I sure as hell knew it was shit. It was like hitting a brick wall...made of shit. So it turns out I enjoyed the first ones because they were legitimately good, not because of my inexperience. You don't need a PhD in Eroge Studies to have a sense of taste and discernment in storytelling; we've been exposed to narrative mediums basically our entire lives.

I think the "babby's first" mindset in general is a fallacy and it seems like it's tied to an attitude of elitism, sometimes overtly but often covertly. I feel kinda sad when people say things like "I really liked X, but it was probably only because it was one of my first VNs," which I see pretty often. They're retroactively devaluing their enjoyment of something to fit a narrative that really only exists to invalidate the opinions of newbies.

I just finished Yuuri's route from that game. I think Koisaku will be much better without the Shinigami bullshit, The last 3 hours of Yuuri's route push me to drop the game entirely. Currently playing through Airi's route from Mashiroiro Symphoni. It's really fresh to see the couple progress slowly and the romance is handled really well unlike most VN when MC conveniently falls in love with the heroine and the heroine falls for MC just because "he's kind tehe~".I remember that it's really out of Character for Yuuji to fall for Michiru, ok not only Michiru but Yuuji is conveniently fall for every heroines in Kajitsu in their respective route without any particular reaason. If this game don't pull some bullshit for drama excuse like Koisaku did, i will rate this 10 without a second thought.

Japan liked Miu more than Airi, i hope they don't have shit taste and she's actually better Airi since Airi probably will be my favorite heroine of all time.

Yes, she has a route in the psp version. I do quite like how they rubbed her in in the anime adaptation though.

As for appeal heroines, I generally find all 4 of them very easy to meld in with, quite a stark with the usual moege/whatever-ge. For me Miu can be summed up as "comfy".

Not so much playing it, already completed back in August, but hacking for translation the GA visual novel.

Goddammit, the devs are weird. They've used CheeseWare MotionMaker, yes, the previous version of the E-mote you all know well, for the sole purpose of... making menus. As a result it's pretty difficult to make any sense of their proprietary spritesheet format and things like multiple color indexes for the same image don't help matters much. The actual game uses normal PSP GIMs for everything, they literally only used E-mote for the menus, likely because of said spritesheet format because there's no actual motion data to be seen anywhere.

Almost at the end of Natsukuru. That game was really a nice surprise for me since I had absolutely no expectations. I didn't thought the game would eventually go into quantum physics. I think I'll start Harukuru after that.

I don't like sprite very much, they seem like they don't want to be making eroge at all.
They started with 恋と選挙とチョコレート, managed to have someone adapt it into an anime, and then tried to ride on its prominence to sell their all-ages galge, いますぐお兄ちゃんに妹だっていいたい.
But it didn't sell at all so they went back to making eroge, except they're in denial and wants to pretend it's not.
If you look at the official site's preview CGs for 蒼の彼方のフォーリズム, you'll see that they don't have any ero CGs for preview. They don't mention the adult content in the game at all, except for the 18+ disclaimer.
They also announced the anime adaption for it before the game came out which just convinces me even more that they don't give a shit about eroge players and just want to sell to the general consumers.

If it wasn't for the harukuru writer, I probably wouldn't have been interested in their newest game at all.

Saya no Uta is not even remotely safe. S;G is clear but if you've watched the anime you're probably fine (from what I've heard from people who have watched and played it). White Album 2 is clear but Introduction (very light spoiler) has a very thick make out scene in it. Since the intro is like 5-7 hours long at most, you're almost guaranteed to hit it.

Some completely worksafe games you might consider, but also might have played, would be:
-Symphonic Rain
-Wasuremono to Otoshimono
-Sodento no Mimei
-Textbook of Evil
-Sayonara Utsutsu (Might get you some weird looks)
The latter four are about 3-5~6 hours a piece, so you should be good.

Done with Natsukuru. Great game though I expected a bit more explanation. Especially all the akai yuki stuff was rather confusing and not really plot relevant. The actual infodumps weren't as heavy as I expected and not too long which was a big factor for me not losing my motivation. Next game will be either Harukuru or Natsu no Ame.
