It's funny.
I have a friend who I introduced to eroge years ago, he became as knowledgeable in it as I was and probably even more, so much that he was able to write an academic study on its history and present after his studies were done. But I can't help but feel he used it as a coping mechanism for his relationships more than anything when they went awry.
Now he works in Japan and has a girlfriend and all, still considers eroge a hobby but doesn't actually play any. He seems happy though, so I guess more power to him.

I'm about to finish reading Flyable Heart and I can't decide what to play next. I was thinking Akatsuki no Goei but I'm not sure if I'll want to read all the sequels by the time I'm done reading it.
My reading ability has increased dramatically so far although I've only been reading easy to read VNs.

Anyways, if anyone has some specific easy to read VNs or charts like this please post them. Or just convince me to read something, I really can't decide at this point.

Thanks. I'll be honest I'm only moderately enjoying Flyable Heart. It's like a decent 7/10 for me so far, but I still have a few routes left. I want to stick with and finish it though, it's entertaining enough and it helps my comprehension.
I'm sure I'd enjoy other moe games, I actually read a bit of Tsuyokiss but I opted for Flyable Heart instead because I thought the characters were cuter. I was kind of hoping to play a more plot oriented VN though.
Well, to be honest at this point I really just want something consistently entertaining so I'll be more motivated to read it. When I used to read translations I could glide through the slower parts much easier because I didn't have to put nearly as much effort into actually reading.

You'll miss out on a ton of nuance and probably find yourself bashing your head against a wall while crawling through their huge vocabulary with EDICT and attempting to navigate the difficult grammar. And once you finally finish reading something that's way above your head, you will find that you still misunderstood a whole shitload of things.

Just take it easy and read the things I listed earlier if you haven't already, they're fantastic games and they're not very difficult. There are a lot of great titles out there that aren't going to make you want to put your head in a blender.

I'm not going to tell you that you shouldn't read games from those writers no matter what, just know that you can easily ruin the experience by attempting to do them too early.

Try the blitzkrieg tactic.

Think of it like this: There's an immense number of visual novels and they all use many words and the overwhelming majority of those words will end up overlapping and you will see them hundreds of times in many different visual novels. So a lot of the vocab that you pick up in an easier VN will be the same words that you will see again in everything else, including VNs that are significantly more difficult.

As it was with the blitzkrieg, you target the weak points of the army (easier VNs that are interesting to you because the ease increases reading speed which increases the rate of your exposure to new words and the interest factor helps to improve retention because it's easier to remember something that you were interested in) and then you make a deep thrust into these weak spots.

As the spearhead pierces through then the other weapon in your arsenal (anki decks) follows behind in the path that your reading blitz continues to clear and it starts to gobble up all of those words that you added to your deck while you were reading. They weren't retained the day that you read them, but they were added to the deck so now they can be gradually chipped away at through reviewing. Once the spearhead of reading has cut through to the other side and you no longer have any other easy things to read that are interesting and still pose at least a slight challenge then you encircle and pierce the already weakened center. The words from the easier VNs are eventually memorized, those memorized words carry over and make it significantly easier to read this harder material now that so many of the words that it uses have already been memorized months earlier, and finally you pierce straight through to the heart and then it snaps and crumbles in on itself as anki devours what's left.

It's actually one of the most realistic, down-to-earth situations you can find in eroge. That's why it confuses me when it happens. Girls aren't supposed to be loose whores in moe/chara/renaige, so when a heroine immediately fucks MC I see it more as a fling than the true love they try to make it out to be. MC is just her gateway dick, a stepping stone to bigger and greater dicks.

Good for you. It only took me like 4 moege to realize I always got bored by around the end of the common route.

Cute girls are nice but they aren't enough to entertain me for 40+ hours. I prefer just watching anime for small bits of moe.

The main advantage to VNs imo is mainly the fact that they are forced to actually tell complete stories, unlike LNs and manga which are usually designed to not have an end, or to postpone it indefinitely. So when VNs actually do have good stories, I think they are the best medium. If anime series were all complete stories that took as many episodes as they needed to tell the story fully then I would drop VNs in a heartbeat though.

This is one of the main reasons I like eroge, although it's more specifically because of the way they tell complete romance stories. Anime and manga are abysmal when it comes to romance, in that there is rarely any real romantic development even in supposed "romance" series.

Although that aside there are many presentation and cultural aspects that I like about eroge. It's a very unique medium.

My favourite VN this year. It's definitely worth your time. But don't read it for the time travel because it's only a plot device for the whole " the future can't be changed no matters how many time you returns to the past and repeats it ". Read it for the well-written comedy and drama, also the mc is really great, it is rare to write fun mc like this and give him good character development later on the story. The game sure has its flows that stopping it from being a masterpiece or a kamige like the other 3 heroine not being as good as the main one or not taking more advantage of the time travel aspect but it's surely a must read for me. I actually remembered why I loved reading vn at the first place by reading this.

I like the H-scenes since they are short and don't make the readers want to cut themselves like other titles. Sumeragi's art certainly helps too.

Take a wild guess at what most people would like to discuss.

I was thinking about playing that, but the art in some of these screenshots just looks terrible.

Alright, I take back what I said. The scene was actually pretty hot and not all that out of place. Kind of disappointed there wasn't a scene with Iyo though, they gave you the choice but they both ended up playing it off as a joke.

The art is great and has a lot of charm. Unless you're talking about Kikyo's face, it took me a while to get used to it.

(Major Leyline 2 spoilers in image.)

Question for anyone who has played Leyline 2. I really dislike the routes and glossed over the ones here for story relevant content. Is Ushio's route canon or necessary in this game?

When I don't want to fap I just CTRL through sex scenes and fap to them later in the 回想 mode.

Ushio's route is the canon route, always.

>> No.12703135

>>12702616
I don't know how they're going to handle the third one, but you can complete both games without even getting into any heroine routes at all. Ushio's route takes place in the epilogue provided you triggered enough of her flags and at least the route in the second game also presumes that they fucked in the first game, though neither of her epilogue routes contained any major plot stuff as far as I'm aware.

A couple of hours in and this is surprisingly pretty good so far. Nice characters, comedy and interesting/unique setting...let's hope it follows through on the rest of the common route and heroine routes.

I'm also playing this and its really nice, specially how are they take steps until having sex, like holding hands at first, then kissing on the cheek another day, then lips etc.

As in not just moege? My vote would go for nanairo reincarnation, it had some plot, but it was most definitely about its characters.
Eiri's route in hikoukigumo was damn good too, shame about the rest of the game.

They obviously threw it together in a hurry after people complained. It looks kind of bad and it doesn't even seem to change the CGs which is pretty jarring. I ended up uninstalling it.

I would agree with both of those choices. I actually liked the other routes in Hikoukigumo, too.

AstralAir was decent as well, though too long for its own good.

Yuuki's route was plot plot plot till the end, the game as a whole definitely prioritized the scenario and plot over characters when it mattered.

Even Yuuki's route spent a lot of time doing not much. The plot is always there in the background, but it doesn't make up the bulk of the game which is more SoL-ish stuff.

>> No.12704221

>>12704205
I have more patience than you, I guess. But yeah, that's why I said it's too long for its own good. It had nice art, a good soundtrack, and some pretty interesting stuff was buried in there. It just needed to be cut way down. Like WTF even was Kotori's route and why was it in the game? Ichika's too, though that one was cute enough that I didn't mind its presence.
