To me Yuko always represented the multi-talented jack of all trades. Performance-wise she was definitely endowed with nice singing skills and the right enough pitch to fit all genres of songs, from ballads to Not Yet's pop-ish rythms. Not to mention great dancing abilities, of which you can see a good display in work-intensive choregoraphies such as UZA and End Roll.
Being the team's moodmaker also made her an irreplaceable figure on variety shows and theater MCs. Additionally, she was also pleasant to watch in any making-of and behind-the-scenes footage, proving that this is simply what she is like in everyday life and not just a character she conveniently switches on and off.
Also, great leadership skills. I can't deny I was one of those who harbored some doubts when team captains were first reformed and Yuko took over Sayaka's role, but I had to reconsider my stance. In spite of her loose cannonball image, Team K was at its finest under her guidance and its identity was solid enough to brave any shuffle.
In short, Yuko was that one-of-a-kind member who could change the atmosphere of a show or a theater stage merely with her own presence.
Some people tend to attribute those abilities as a legacy of all the entertainment jobs she did in the past, but I don't believe so myself. Judging by statements from fellow members and a few interviews with Natsu sensei it seems more like she's a very adaptive player who can get a good command of anything with relatively little training just by trusting her instincts and physical stamina.
I don't mean to diss Tomu, but for the above reasons and more I believe that the real 優魂継承 today is no one else but Tanochan. I hope the management will wake up to this and promote her as she deserves for the sake of the group''s future.

By the way maybe I should add that her tendency to crack dirty jokes was something that she developed once she worked up enough self-confidence, at first she used to be rather no-nonsense in additude.
Indeed, back when AKB was still small time and not everyone had an equal chance to get on big mass media, she originally embodied the 優等生 character who worked diligently at the theater, in contrast to Maeda representing the group on TV. I'd hazard that the friendly competition between Yuko and Acchan oshis harkens to those days.
