I bought and played Totori for the first time one or two months ago, and immediately played through it from start to finish again. Basically you'll have your PSP merged with your Vita.
You'll have to stay on FW 3.18 from now on though, which means no PS Store nor PS+ features for your Vita once the next firmware arrives. Firmware 3.30 was supposed to happen this October, but who knows what happens now, but you can be sure that all exploitable games will be pulled from PS Store ASAP.

For anyone that hasn't at least read up on Ciel, be aware that you will have absolutely no idea about what the hell is going on when you start Ar nosurge. Reading one of the summaries is basically mandatory, especially with how poorly the writing tries to bring people that haven't read it up to speed.

Besides that, I'm enjoying the game so far. The fights are more involved than the ones in AT3, but they seem stupidly easy so far.

And it probably doesn't need to be said, but the dub is atrocious as usual.

Of course, the concert CDs are a fantastic extra for a giveaway like that but just having an OST and artbook would still be a nice extra for a 'limited edition'. Instead we got nothing apart from some shitty art cards which were limited to one retailer, I believe. Meanwhile NISA gives you the game, OST, a proper hardcover artbook, a decent quality poster and a nice case to put it all in. Ion is trapped in a world with only a shop run by the character Nelico and her house. Basically, while Ion was tinkering around, she happened to create a terminal that links from her world to ours through the PS Vita. The main game of Ciel nosurge is you doing shit like crafting items and scheduling things to do with Ion while helping her recover her memories, which is the stuff the summaries cover. You're basically a screen that can transmit thoughts to Ion to communicate with her and do things like going on dates with her. Basically. Well actually, you figure out exactly what Ion is doing in that world and who Nelico is in Ar nosurge. The Surge Concerto plays a lot with meta themes and Ar nosurge especially goes past the simple 7D terminal you use in Ciel nosurge. Once you get back to Ar nosurge, a lot of this stuff will be made clear but, for now, just enjoy the story of Ra Ciela from the summaries.

I finished reading the whole Ciel nosurge summary (which took me two full days) and I've got some questions:

Why did they summon Yuuki Nei to begin with?

As far as I understand their idea was to activate the grand phoenix plan - but why couldn't they just use Nero (again) like 5000 years ago?

And another thing:

According to the summary the ES45 is controlled by people from the same world/dimension as Ion.

Earthes was originally designed by Professor Clacket based off the Guardian robots of Soreil but its key function is to utilize the ability to connect through the 7th Dimension with Interdimend among other things you'll find out later in the story. Within Ion's world, she basically just happened to copy the ES45 Cathode Robot that you connected to initially and the connection continued through the physical Earthes after Ion left.
Regarding Nelico's nickname for Ion, I think it should be because Ion was kept in the Ar nosurge tube at the beginning of the game (and thus, throughout Ciel nosurge) which resembles a lighthouse at the top of Soreil. I don't remember exactly when this was said in Ar nosurge but I think Nelico explained it sometime during her Genometrics.

Everything aside from the insanity was translated (very literally), but I quite like that part and it clearly was meant to convey a sort message, but the TL's skill with the english language was such that he didn't even attempt it (better than botching it).
All the same, I'd like to know what was meant, and the forshadowy stuff that is most likely hidden in those segments.

Still playing through Ar Nosurge and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by it. It's one of the rare instances where my hype for the game exceeded my expectations. I heard that Japanese players complained about the game mostly so I fretted that this would be like AT3. But that is not the case.

This is on par with AT2 and depending how phase 3(in middle of playing) plays out may even be better than AT2 for me. I love the character dynamics that Delta+Cass have and how it grows as the story goes on. Also like the fact that the support cast matter a lot in this a great deal compared to AT1+3.

What sealed the deal for me is spoiler: How meta this game becomes after a certain point. I thought it was only with being Earthes, which is different yes, but when characters start talking to YOU and not through Earthes that's when I became surprised. You hurt Delta by controlling him, You pry on personal matters, Ion knows that You have a life outside of the game and that you will eventually move on and forget her, and other characters just suddenly turning to face You. It takes me aback and I feel guilty about playing. It kind of hurts. Pic related is what I kind of feel like. This mechanic is great and it actually connected me more with the game and its characters that is greatly beyond just playing a self-insert character.

Outside of graphical glitches and localization errors I love this game and I'm afraid of when it will end. I'll miss it.

By the way this came up on a /v/ thread, but about Delta in the nosurge tube is it possible that we're impersonating the other player during that scene ? I mean it's really out of character for us up to that point, it doesn't even make sense because WE brought Delta up there fully knowing he would be breaking the connection, hell chances are most of us wished for that to avoid his death. And then we're getting the "I control YOU" shit and "I just want to clear this bad game" like we don't give fuck, wich reminds me a part of CLASS--EXSPHERE_NOSURGE where the song goes "Control her" while is being influenced by the other player who also see all of this as a bad game and is just having fun destroying it all.
I dunno my theory is that using the key does precicely what Nelo thought it would, cut the connection, but cutting the connection with you would mean it's now free for the other player to use now that Delta is inside the tube. After all he already did it once when he made him destroy the barrier so the connection is there even though Sarly hacked it to our terminal, and Delta was originally interidmended in the tube as well.
We also know Nelo would do anything to return home despite her feelings, so maybe this was in fact a trap.
Prim destroys the Avatar while Delta cuts the connection and gets taken over by the other player as well, both gaining another powerful tool and cutting out the biggest threat to her plans, us.
What they did not predict was Cassy going into panic and destroying the tube.

How long is Ar Nosurge by the way? Currently I'm only ~8-9 hours in, but I already love the game. The battle system is my favorite so far, even though the balance is rather bad. It's great that you can defeat all enemies even during 1-2 encounter(s). I swear this guy is a puritan with how he complains about the characters and compares it to pedophilia especially with Cass. She's 21 and looks to be more of a lithe 18+ female than a "preteen in a training bra". Come on. His writing tries to be funny but comes across as annoying mostly. That is a very possible theory. I have read about a lot of people saying that specific part was out of place even though the scenario itself was great. Though it's just a theory, Akira Tsuchiya is the type of person to have thought of a reason for that to happen. I mean, even in the cutscene before the final boss, Prim says that she could destroy the Ar nosurge tube and cut off Interdimend for both you and Player 2. Since the key cut the connection but didn't destroy the tube itself, we were possibly just watching a few things Player 2 could have said to Delta. All of these events did seem to line up with Nelo's plans so I wouldn't doubt that Delta (along with the Player) was falling into a trap with Nelo's hide and seek game. Cass destroying the main vacuum tube was probably the best outcome because it didn't allow Player 2 to establish a another channel and lets us utilize the channels from the new Avatar, the old Avatar core, and Delta when Class::AR_NOSURGE#Re:incarnation; was sung.

It's not really a spoiler but it's revealed in phase 3 that it's been a little over 5000 years between the events of Ion's memories in Ciel Nosurge and the start of Ar Nosurge. The characters of Ar Nosurge have awoken a couple years ago because the Sharl are taking away humans and no humans knew song magic except ancients such as Cass and Sarly who were in cryostasis. Yes, Nay is really over 5000 years old but it makes since she's a Sharl/Genom herself as well as Ion who has been making Sharl for 5000+ years while in stasis up on the Star Singer's Platform. Not sure how Nero survived 5000+ years myself and when Zill woke up to fuck with everything.

I can say that the reason Delta and Co. were able to shrug off the two year time skip is because the Flask Sea preserves the body in its waters and puts them in this stasis.

I find it really ironic that one Delta and Cass get to Ar Ciel and how they describe as a paradise and blending the will of the planet and technology together. They want to move to a place that is about to get fucked over terribly to the point that the surface is uninhabitable and the last bits of civilizations are going to be one these floating continents. I just feel bad that this lush planet is inevitably going to come extremely close to death starting with the grathnode inferia followed by Mir's near complete genocide of humanity. At least Ar Ciel doesn't get engulfed by a star like Ra Ciela.

The choices say otherwise. Take the end of phase 2 for example, I should be busy trying to save Ion at all costs instead of trying to mindfuck Delta in the tube. The lines doesn't add up.

Furthermore, Sarly or Nelo I think mentioned that both Interdimends are only connected on the subconscious level, which is where I got the idea of different players controlling the 2.

The timeline goes like this
1.Delta and Cassy ambushed during a PLASMA mission
2.Cassy escapes, Delta is captured and forcefully Interdimended to the other player
3.6 months later after Delta is braiwashed enough by the other player's thoughts, they let him free and he destroys the barrier
4.Sarly cuts Delta connection to the other player, but they are unable to remove Interdimend so Delta remains amnesiac though in control of his own actions. Also no telling to Cassy because Sarly is a cold bitch.
5.6 more months later the first part of the game is supposedly entirely from Delta's POV as the player isn't in the fun yet
6.Once captured by Zill and sent into flask sea, Sarly with the cooperation of the doctor, starts the events that will connect us with Ion and help her repair her memories in Ciel nosurge, the game lasts about 2 years and it takes 2 years for Delta and Co. to get free
7.We break Ion out of her virus induced coma and find ourselves connected to two new terminals, one is the Avatar Core aka Earthes and the other is Delta, courtesy of Sarly who is still bitch for keeping it secret as he slowly dies.
8.Offscreen Nelo is also being a cunt and Interdimends the poor Prim with the other player causing her personality to slowly die as well as she goes insane.

Watching the end of phase 1 with Nay in English was so painful. It's not that the translations were 'wrong' strictly, but the translators clearly knew nothing about Ciel or what happened between Ion and Nay, and nobody informed Nay's voice actor how she was supposed to sound, either. She sounded desperate in JP, but just kind of annoyed and nonchalant in English.

Like when Nay says at the end of Phase 1 that "it's my job to live and to die for humanity, YOU were the one who told me that" to Ion, that makes it sound like Ion was some bitch who treated Nay like a slave or puppet ruler. In reality the line is "YOU were the one who forced this role on me", referring to (Ciel spoilers) Ion giving Nay the Voice of the Empress in the heat of the moment right before Nero whisked Ion's body into the future

Lots of stuff like that really bothered me. The translation wasn't technically 'wrong', but it wasn't translated well because the translators clearly hadn't played Ciel.

I remember the scene when Delta was put into the Flask Sea like this:

The screen went blank and an error message appeared informing me that the connection was lost and the terminal will now switch over to the other channel.
