I played it (well before they even added that stupid lottery everyone complains about), and it was not fun at all. I played for about a week or two and had all the ships I wanted, but it has no depth even in comparison to other recent games of the type (PAD, VC). It really seems like the only thing people are even playing this game for is to tell other people they are playing so they look otacool in front of them

Well, if you got most of the rare ships, surely you spent some time playing it and enjoyed it a little bit, at least? In any case, if you got the ships you want and then quit, then you at least attained what you wanted out of the game before you quit. Isn't that a good thing?

>>12535361
It's easy to get lost when you're not following guidelines on what to do at the beginning. Check the wiki or the himeuta forums! They have good guides available for free.

>>12535391
It's good that you got all the ships you wanted, although if you wanted to derive more time out of it, you may have wanted to try and raise them to level 99, and then you could've married them! It's at least something extra to do if you get your favorites early on.

I actually got a Nagato out of a common battleship recipe. I was really happy, because she's the reason I wanted to play the game! She's now level 40 and hopefully she'll be level 99 soon!

There's nearly no reason to spend money on the cash shop. Most things are meant to be a convenience.

- You can buy extra drydock slots, and that is pretty convenient, admittedly. But you can get by just fine with two instead of four.

-You can buy resources, development materials and flamethrowers. But there's no reason to, getting them from dailies is much easier than giving DMM money will ever be.

-You can buy furniture boxes, but again, you can get those from expeditions. Even the most cogitated furniture item in the game, the couple's futon, can be attained by doing your marriage quest. No money whatsoever involved.

I mean, the developers release new remodels and lines for ships at least bi-monthly on free patches. You could say that one day, yeah, they may introduce skins in a cash shop, and I have no argument against that. But that hasn't happened yet.

I only played it so I could brag about it in the threads. But not because I wanted to be together with them. They were honestly the worst people I have ever seen in my life. I get along with just about anybody on the internet. I'd even say that I consider every person here on /jp/ a best friend of sorts. But those people in the thread were literally the worst people I have ever encountered in my life.

>> No.12535492

>>12535483
The sum of the parts may not necessarily be equal to the whole.

If the threads in /jp/ are unlikable at best (and I can understand that), go seek out another community to discuss the game with. There's no need to relegate yourself to a single group of people if you disagree with them. You're doing yourself a disservice by being beholden to a thread on 4chan, friend.

/a/ or /jp/ threads? I was mostly in the /a/ threads when I still played but it truly was cancer there and probably still is. Most of those "conveniences" are only to cut down on grinding for random drops and the unavoidable waiting the player is forced to put through. It feels like one of those download sites where the hosts force download speeds to be slower for free users in the hopes that those users loose their patients and go premium. It's an effective business model, but doesn't make a very fun game, especially since the only reward out of it is virtual cards that I could collect faster through Google images. I don't feel very rewarded for just rolling dices, and most of my time in the game is spent waiting for my ships to heal.

Well, you got me there. I got into kancolle the week before last so I'm pretty fresh. Either way, the threads never seemed like a good repository of information so I never found the need to participate in them.

>>12535513
...well, yeah. I wouldn't say the analogy is perfect, you could hardly compare this game to a bad download host. But I think the game has some value in making you wait most of the time. Having no control over the battles or the compass is relaxing in a way; if you're sent back, it's not your fault. It's okay to sit back and relax, do something else while playing the game.

It rewards patience. You could look at is as a bad business model, and I understand that, because sometimes it *is* kinda frustrating.

Another thing is that collecting ships is not the only objective of the game, you know. Yes, it says kantai collection right in the title, but there's a myriad of things to do in the game. You can try to clear all the sorties, you can try to attain good PvP scores, or you can try to craft all the shipgirls, like you said. You make your own goals in the game, which is what makes it interesting in my eyes as a collection game. If you play it purely as a crafting simulator, I do concede that it'll be boring beyond belief, but I'm enjoying it thoroughly so far.
