I'm hoping that Kosuzu will fuse with her scroll and become a tsukumogami by the end of Forbidden Scrollery. There's a precedent in folklore about it (that one musician who fused with his biwa), her scroll has been spewing tsukumogami left, right and center since the beginning of the series, Mamizou explicitly warned her not to use it too much, she and her stuff have been possessed twice already and Akyu said not to come crawling back to her if she does become a youkai.

This will also spawn countless Mamizou/Kosuzu yuri books because of that line about how raccoon dogs and artifact ghosts have very high compatibility. I bet Mamizou has some sort of Hikaru Genji plan to groom Kosuzu into becoming the perfect partner for her.

The end of the chapters about Remilia's pet does everything it can to make it sound like she will. Of course it's immediately forgotten by the next chapter. Can't have one event lead into the next. That might imply continuity and we can't have that.

Personally, I feel it's just building up the suspense. There's plenty of major events that give plenty to think about, like Yukari's reveal, Suika's appearance, Komachi's continued criticisms.
The main point of the story seems to be Kasen's self-identity, not her actual status. We already know she's an oni, a youkai, and not exactly a hermit, and has interest in the other side of the border, but the chapters we clearly show her human sympathizing, her hermit-like nature, her relationship with Reimu despite being miko of the barrier. I'd argue this all builds up the the eventual conclusion where Kasen has to decide where exactly her allegiance lies.

Nothing will happen since there is no conflict of any kind. No one can force Kasen to suddenly kill humans if she decides to reveal that she is an oni and Reimu is already friends with an oni. This isn't some war drama where one character might defect to the other side and betray his friends.
