KokoPura isn't that bad, but it was clear from the start they were trying to bottle thunder a second time (I think Akimoto contacted Lucky Ikeda to create the dance routine before the Sousenkyo was even over) and this spoiled all chances to repeat the success of KoiChun from the get go. At least if even this year the winner was Sashihara it could have been intended as her comeback song, attempting the same thing except with another center just destroys the novelty and makes it look like a rehash.

Stuff like Natsu Matsuri is actually a much more awesome alternative than akushukai, both members and fans were happier with this decision. I think that in order for a center to contribute to pulling big numbers is that they have to be able to pull non-fans in. Sasshi worked well in this regard due to her being a big media personality, and being really enjoyable to watch and listen to in almost everything she appears in. I remember in something I watched, even old people who had no idea what AKB was knew her name from shows they'd seen her in and liked her.

While Mayu is a great idol (almost perfect depending on your definition), I just don't feel she's appealing (or maybe not noticeable?) to the non-idol following masses.

There main reason why Bingo is bad is that nowadays they primarily invite fresh members who don't have any variety experience and are thus plain boring on camera. Sure you get some exceptions of naturals like Tano, but the majority just can't into variety yet. Just look at Joker. When they sat her down with Tano at the end of the latest episode, she didn't do anything.

There's also the problem with the corners themselves. Some episodes are just boring as hell. And while all shows can have bad episodes, Bingo just can't afford it in its current state. They need to drop the kotoburgers and quizzes and do some true variety.
