The background on my phone is showing it off, I have a figure on my table, and a plushie, and a dakimakura, this is in the apartment I share with my step dad, which I use while I study, at my mother's place I have two figures and some posters.

I attend cons occasionally, and my friends have said I like "like a fucking anime character", my hair kind of has this length where it looks really grimdark and edgy, but it's dyed really blonde, so it makes it look even more weeb, also they said my eyebrowns are pretty thick so it just makes me look more like a "anime character".

I hate meeting with them when they say these things, I don't know how to respond to them, or if they're serious, if they are making fun of me or not, because they use a mixed amount of sarcasm and tones every time, so at first I thought they were just having a giggle, but I am not sure anymore.

All my weird shits are in my hard drive.

That being said, I still hestitant to talk about weaboo stuff in public, even though my dorm has a number of weaboos, but I pretend to be normie who lock himself in his room all day.

I know. I didn't choose, I am just not into the latter. I don't walk around in weeaboo T-shirts or carrying weeaboo merchandise with me. My phone and laptop backgrounds are subtle enough to not jump out as weeaboo (picture is my phone background, it's from I/O). However, I do use very weeaboo stuff in specific situations; for example, most of my Magic: the Gathering sleeves and card boxes feature characters from VNs and anime. Beyond that, I have no qualms about reading VNs or watching anime in public.

Basically, I neither flaunt nor hide it.

You know, it's very difficult to strike a balance especially if you're not a NEET and you actually have to make a regular appearance in public. It's something that I think about a bit, and sometimes struggle to find what I think is the right answer.
There's being ashamed of your interests, and there's being realistic. For instance; I don't hide the fact that I like anime, manga or other various otaku interests but in that same vein I do hide the fact that I like loli,eroge and yukkuri abuse. Being realistic, I understand that a public admission of interest in the latter group would just be stupid and might cost me my job.
So, what I end up with is this: I don't try to hide my more 'normal' interets, people who know me personally know that I like it. I do hide my less 'normal' interests because of commonsense. I'm not ashamed of anything I like though, society and human beings are too complex to say "It's wrong to like this." And, "It's right to like this."

Who is worse?

Being ashamed and hiding (something that's it's not sensible to be hiding) and blending in is worse then being open about it.
But, liking something or saying that you like something just so you can be 'different' is worse than just blending in.

I've met a couple cool people who were subtle about it and only had a keychain or a t-shirt or something. The people who hide their power level tend to be a lot less socially awkward and have better taste in general. The ones you wanna watch out for are the people who put it all out there and turn being a filthy weeaboo into their whole identity.

I went to a small technical college and the amount of people there with no shame was crazy. They'd play yugioh and magic in the cafeteria, (with mats and everything) sit around in circles with their laptops playing games, (I saw skyrim, street fighter 4 and bastion on many separate occasions) watch anime on the library computers (one dude was watching k-on with headphones on and laughing like a banshee) and just generally being loud and obnoxious when in a group together. They finished the new building for the nursing and dental students and I'm not surprised they out it on the complete opposite side of the tech center to keep the largely female healthcare student population away from all the male IT and game design students. Watching them try to hit on women was the worst.

I did meet a couple cool people though, one was sitting in a corner alone watching lupin III on his laptop, the other had a little giroro keychain dangling from his bag. They kept to themselves and were generally decent people unlike the unwashed and rowdy herds of weeaboos in the cafeteria.

Just my computer and phone have any indication I like anime and weeb shit. I have some stickers on my laptop, and all of my backgrounds are either 2hu or anime

I study with 4 friends at home, so I let them into my room where I do not hide anything. I even got all of them into fighting games and some of them into anime (specific shows only).
