Not sure where to put this and if it's not /jp/ than please delete. Why did the United States fight on the wrong side in World War II? Why didn't the U.S. join Japan and Germany against the Bolshevist in World War II?

Japan got too big for it's britches, that's why we nuked Pearl Harbor anon. They also sided with Hitler and he was the ultimate evil.

If the Japanese Empire and the Greater East Asia Co Prosperity sphere were still around. There'd be no communism anywhere in east asia.

Thanks alot America!

Because Nanking. Because imperialism is wrong when it's not America doing it.

That's really what it boils down to. Japan fucked with the USA's interests in the East, so we cut off their oil and the rest is history.

If atrocities were the motivating factor behind mobilizing against Japan. Why would you team up with the Soviet Union?

>> No.12383029

Because America doesn't care about anything but it's own interests. There wasn't much to earn on joining with Japan, also, since Japan attacked pearl harbor and killed a couple of Americans, USA cannot forgive them (there are still Americans that feels that they haven't paid Japan back yet, even after killing about 40000% more than the people that died at PH).

USA has always been the bad-guys, but because they're so stuffed with weapons, no one can do anything. You can't expect America to work for humanity, when all they care about, are themselves.

Because when the US allied with the Soviet Union, both were already in conflict with Germany. The relationship between the USSR and the United States was more "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", rather than "we're actually best friends who will fight together forever".

>> No.12383048

They were already allied with the Allies, and Japan attacked the oil-producing Dutch East Indies, forcing the US to take action to protect its ally The Netherlands. When Japan retaliated by attacking the US (it was either that or wait until the US attacked them), the US couldn't go around it anymore.

>> No.12383049

>>12383036

I know what the relationship was and I'm saying it's retarded. There's no way the U.S. didn't know Communism was a bigger threat than fascism. The only explanation is jews.

As long as jews aren't being killed then it doesn't matter. That's why there is a holocaust industry and movies featuring evil Nazi's. But, no Soviet Anne Frank.

Teaming up with the Soviets was the biggest mistake the U.S. has ever gone through. It spearheaded Communism into East Asia and Berlin, led to the cold war and nuclear arm totalitarian regimes with a combined kill count of over 100 million non-combatants.

Our intelligence on the Soviet Union was pitiful at best. While I personally can't say that we allied with the "right" people, at the time we didn't know about the Holodomor. A lot of people in the United States still don't know that it happened. We had no real idea what the Soviets were really capable of even after the Second World War.

At least now there's Putin.

>> No.12383072

I have a hard time believing that the U.S. didn't know that the Soviets were butchers. Bet if Jews were being sent to Gulags, they'd be over there. The idea that this is a "OOPS we didn't know" is ridiculous.

Do you seriously think that the United States and Britain on their own could have taken on the Axis Powers + the USSR? Yes, the US was amazingly productive during WWII, but even it would have encountered trouble if Soviet manpower and resources were paired with German science and technology.

>> No.12383080

>>12383076

No, I think they should have gone after the greater evil like they claimed. The Soviets were not the lesser evil and we should have never allied with them.

There was recognition that the Soviets were scumbags even before the war, but the immediate threat of Germany, a country that had brought the rest of Europe to its knees twice in less than 30 years and that had conquered most of Western Europe by 1942, far outweighed the potential threat of the USSR.

It helps that there was also a lack of recognition for the efficacy of the USSR as an extension of the general disdain for Russians among Americans of the period. They saw the Russians as a people characterized by backwardness, superstition, lack of education, and alcoholism, with the result that many failed to realize the power of the USSR until they were already ascendant.

Not the sameguy.

I don't rally care that the U.S. choose to prioritize Germany over Russia. But, this is idea that this was a good war with a clear cut Good and Bad side is horse shit. The U.S. should have just stayed out of it. Germany conquering Europe isn't a bad deal.

>> No.12383138

Because the U.S. wrongly assumed that Nazi's were a big threat than the Soviets. They figured that it would be easier to deal with the Nazi's and Fascism than the Communist. They were wrong of course.

>Implying any country works for the interest of others.

America is "fight evil smite evil" good the problem with America is that it likes conflict and needs a rival/nemesis to fight otherwise it becomes bored and toys around with smaller countries for its own amusement.
