I have never played a visual novel before but I wanted to try playing a game like Clannad. I am a NEET and will be my entire life so I will not find true love or whatever and I will stay a virgin. My fear is that I might fall in love with a girl if I immerse myself and get into the story, and it will be perfect because that's how they are written. Then in 5-10 years I will think back with nostalgic and sadness about this girl and it will increase my chance of suicide. Do you ever think back about visual novel girls and get depressed from nostalgia and sadness? Please do not respond about waifu's or exaggerate to fit in or whatever I just want honest answers, thank you!

That's cool I guess, but the designs don't look terribly inspiring just going off of these rough sketches. Though it'll be nice having two artists to inject some variety into the faces at least.

I have been a NEET for 8 years and I have never been depressed, however it is common and I just want to try and avoid it. My fear is that I become depressed and want to kill myself. I also have another install of the game. To install this one I just used the setup.exe on the first disc and so on. It works, but I don't think it's complete as the whole install folder is only 1.26GB whereas the 'discs' are around 2.86GB total.

Ps2 version is cool, added some really necessary CGs in Futami's route by the end when the fights start to happen which work better than simply seeinng a completely frozen sprite for five minutes. Also I liked this upgrade from the original CG, Futami's whole route just feels better in the art department than its original.

Started Hitori no Qualia. For others wondering about starting the games you should download the patches before playing. There's no character sprites at all so you'd just be staring at backgrounds for most of the time and 101 patch adds face icons (pic related). Official website notes are a fun read
>テストプレイ時に「はぁ?立ち絵ないの?」と50回以上突っ込まれたので、
>ありもの素材から表情豊かなフェースをでっちあげました。
>笛さん&グラフィッカたちありがとう。
It's like they really initially thought no sprites or face icons would be somehow acceptable, especially when the games don't seem to have that many CG to fill the void.

At least the characters are cute enough to get enjoyment out of in my drunken stupor.

I played through it twice, with and without the patch, and I wasn't really bothered by the lack of icons most of the time. What's happening in the start of subahibi with Zakuro remembering things that happened with Yuki?

Why does Zukuro believe what those other two girls say so quickly? I can't exactly remember in subahibi, but in tsui she believed them believe the rapist fell off the building. Were the two girls just playing around in chuni fantasies?

And what the hell happened at the end of tsui no sora.

Finished Witch's garden. I once again realized I have shit taste, because unlike what seemed to be the popular opinion, I really enjoyed it.
I've always liked strong MC's, and the fact that this one uses a shield(and effectively at that) only made it better, managing to trigger my MMO nostalgia.
The heroines also were of my liking, and even the one I thought I would hate ended up my favorite after going into her route(Misumi).
The first routes did feel a little short, and as with a lot of moege(other than in the true route), most of the cast faded out out of the common route.
Overall it was a fun read, and I hope more companies make use of E-mote. I'll probably go for a nukige I can spend a month on now, because I have real life to catch up to.

Seems like メルトピア got only 40 at EGS. Thanks to some anon here I expected some bad score, but still 40 is pretty suck. Its a pity really, even a normal moege would be awesome with this art, at least for me. Anyway I'm downloading it right now and if somebody wants I can give a couple of comment about it. She may get thoroughly fucked over in the other two routes, but Konome is still the best girl, with the best route and the one who deserves Saku the most of the bunch.
Only extra scenarios to finish, seems this time the important one may even have CGs, it's already an improvement over the original.

I don't understand these sorts of posts. Is it bait, disbelief, denial, or jealousy?

If you're a NEET, you can learn enough Japanese to pass JLPT N3 in about six to eight months, assuming you treat it like a full-time job and study eight to twelve hours a day. You could probably even pass N2 in about a year, depending on your intelligence and motivation

Back in the mid-2000s, I personally collaborated with kids (teenagers) in Russia, Mexico, and Brazil who not only knew a fair bit of English but had also went from JLPT 4 --> JLPT 2 (old system) in less than a year.

Being NEET generally indicates a lack of discipline, motivation, and initiative...but not always.

But yes, I am angry. Angry because if more of you got off your asses, we could get more content faster to the people

I don't really trust this chart because...
>three different writing systems and two syllabary systems add to the lanugage's difficulty
The three writing systems (which include the syllabaries) actually make the language a LOT easier than it would be otherwise, and two of them can be learned in a week. Katakana saves so much time and you can learn thousands of words just by knowing it. Hiragana makes conjugating simple and easy. Kanji are a bitch, I'll admit, but they're not hard so much as they are tedious.

I tend to quickly glance at a walkthrough and try to judge whether the game seems simple enough that it can be played without one before starting since I actually like the gameplay aspect of choices.

But then there's stuff like Mikan, Caucasus, Magicha, Steins;Gate and many other cases where missing a certain arbitrary flag at the beginning parts of the game locks you out of some routes and endings altogether which really grinds my gears, especially so when it tends to kill the pacing. The ps2 version did end up fixing most of the issues I had with the original, especially in the CG department which it was sorely lacking.
Epilogues for the heroines were cool, especially San's route was in a dire need for it and her route feels way better even if it still has quite a few problems in itself, but at least the ending isn't bad like in the original.
That said, it could have used more CGs in the extra scenario for the part about the dwarves but the three it used already make it better looking than the original, Odin looks badass in this style. Definitely worth playing over the original by a mile.

Yoake Mae has a nice soundtrack and a decent setting that is explored at times, but mostly wasted. It's nothing outstanding but not really bad. If the girls look cute to you or something and you feel like giving it a shot, I suggest doing Feena's and Estel's routes, at least. The former inevitably deals with the whole being the princess of the moon thing, while the latter deals with Estel learning about the Earth and also develops the political situation between the Earth and the Moon.

Otherwise, it's not a "must read" or anything I'd push a recommendation on. It also doesn't have the charm and banter of Daitoshokan, unfortunately.

Eustia is somewhat unique in setting and, unlike the other August games, is a serious drama involving religion and politics with a dark undertone to it. In general, it's solid and does everything nicely: the dialogue is fun, the characters are likable, the art is really nice, the music fits well and the plot keeps you hooked. It never reaches mediocrity or excellence, it just sits safely in the "good" zone and thanks to that I think it's hard to dislike it. Some complaints go to characterization problems in the final chapter, though personally I didn't think it was a big deal. Definitely worth considering if the setting and/or plot appeals to you.

I can't speak about Fortune Arterial myself, but I've heard people saying that going through it has the same effect as swallowing an entire box of sleeping pills.

Hey vn general, I've been playing キスベル on my vita and so far I'm enjoying it, but does it get better or worse?

I'm just playing the demo and I'm wondering if I should purchase it, or get the vita version of aiyoku no eustia.

So far I've only seen good feedback on the vita port of eustia in 2ch, but I'm still a little lost since it has a poor LE and almost no added content/CG (the removal of H scenes seems pretty nice though).

Tsukihime, again, framed the SoL scenes with the same context as the gore/action scenes. It wasn't jarring. Shiki was still fucked up, still thought fucked up things in the SoL scenes. On topic of console versions of "eroge":

"Eroge" is not a genre like FPS or action.

These are all adventure games as far as Japan is concerned.

When a console port is made, it's not eroge. It never was, while the original remains as eroge.

I don't see the fucking problem here. You can't release eroge on consoles. It just can't be done. So they choose to release non-ero ADVs.

Those who want eroge can play on PC, those who want non-ero can play on console. It doesn't get any more simple than that.

I don't really care if you can read Japanese or not, it's irrelevant to the discussion. However, judging from the way you've acted in this thread it's pretty clear you're either severely limited by translations or you're very new and haven't read much eroge at all. There are a ton of "VNs" out there for you to choose from that have very low or no erotic content. You obviously don't understand how the eroge industry works if you're still complaining about the ero. It's been said before but I'll say it again here, if the ero really bothers you so much that you just can't ctrl through it then read only console ports or all-ages titles and stop shitting up this thread. The industry isn't going to change to fit your needs, I can guarantee you that.

On a side note, complaining about SoL scenes in a work written by Masada makes it extremely clear to me that you've never read anything by him. Well, at the very least, you've never read Senshinkan which is the example which you started this whole argument with which pretty much makes everything you said subject to ridicule.

Why does it seem to be so difficult to find any VNs that aren't filled to the brim with endless internal monologues?

The interesting premise in the summary always lures me in and then 80% of the entire VN is nothing but the main character thinking to himself about everything under the sun. For every line of actual dialog then you get hundreds of lines of seemingly endless paranoid ramblings.
