I disagree. Her history is not bland or unlucky at all. She's like motherfucking bug-eyed rider and ally of justice, crippled and battered but still surviving everything big bad evil guy throws at her by sheer guts, courage and tenacious heart, till the end. She managed to prevail against all odds long enough that even man who hated japanese admired(or was jealous of) her plight.

She really reminds me Iron Kuntz. He was WW II fighter ace with 14 confirmed victories, but the catch is, he had no legs. He was shot down during early stages of Battle of Moscow, and he crawled 30 kilometers back to the German positions with completely shattered legs(bones bellow knees including them were broken into many small pieces), through soviet-infested lands. Without food, without medical attention, he crawled forward because he wanted to fly again. It took him nearly 20 days to reach friendly positions, and when he finally reached his legs were amputated. But he never gave up his dream of flying. He became a active fighter pilot despite people trying to stop him and calling him madman, and survived till the end of the war, flying extremely demanding missions in late war(covering Schwalbe airfields). He shot down 12 planes without legs, without getting shot down himself even once, only to become school teacher later and die at the age of 81. People really admired him here in Stuttgart while he was still alive.

That's the kind of tenacity that Kumano had, too bad she wasn't as lucky as Kuntz.

None of the kai 2s they've been adding have required one and they'll keep adding more ways to get medals. There's still 3-5, 4-5, and EO 6 for every map. Bismarck Zwei and Ryuuhou are hardly worth going out of your way for, and whatever blueprints the event ships require will pay for themselves with the medals the event gives. They seem like far less of a commodity than we were led to believe so an extra 3 won't put you that far ahead.

Or what, you're going to hang on to all those resources for the next event that you're going to do for whatever arbitrary reason.

Not really. The way I see it, they're letting us accumulate medals before they make us spend it all in one go. It's like with resources and new LSC ships. They will want us to spend them so we don't get bored with the game. They're probably going to churn out maybe around one blueprint remodel per month on average. Not to mention alternate remodels; maybe CC Akagi and BB Kaga would need blueprints? It's quite likely; in fact, alternate remodels in general would more likely than not need blueprints.

However, unlike resources, there's a definite limit to the number of medal we can get, and the devs are also likely to take into account the fact that most people won't be touching 5-5. Not to mention that there'll be new players who won't get back past chances to earn medals, unlike older players.

So sooner or later we'll also be needing a medal sink in the game to spend excess medals on. Maybe cash items like damecons or marriage items? Or straight out cash itself.

Nah, endgame will likely see us being able to get at least 10 medals a month (12 if they add a new map), not including event medals. So you'd likely be able to do three blueprint remodels a month. Not too bad of a pace if you want to keep up with the pace of remodels being released.

If anything, a bottomless medal sink is far more likely than them stopping blueprint remodels. Otherwise if things pan out like you said, it'll just end up being another novelty mechanic.
