KS dev here.

1) The backgrounds are in a state of flux right now. They're currently being selected and given a temporary shopping. Once we have all the backgrounds we need selected (a lot, it seems), we're going to play around a bit with them. Background shopping is a fairly fast process compared to the rest of the art, thankfully.

2) Over the next month we'll start showing the other characters on the blog with their new art.

3) Writer shortfalls are covered by the fact that we have both editors and all the other writers weighing in on all the paths. Basically, once a path hits post-production, all the writers and editors give it a playthrough and give a detailed write-up on their thoughts on it, and what they think needs fixing.

4) We're really hitting a good groove recently with pace, and hope to release a demo soon. I can't elaborate much more than that, insofar as saying it'll be done when it's done.

We've been jerked around by the artists we've had, who've joined, done a small amount of art, then left. Now we have a bunch of hardworking artists, so that front is pretty much fixed.

The delay in art though has allowed extra time for writing to be examined and gone over. So it was revamped, but not to the slowing of the project release.
