Akyuu is due to die any day now. But is ZUN willing to do this storyline?

Also, grimderp fics apart, why are humans so freaked out by "dying" in a place like Gensokyo? If say, Marisa dies, the safe bet is that she'll be back like tomorrow, unchanged other by having a ghost tail instead legs. If Reimu dies she goes from snarky shrine maiden to snarky celestial and so on.

The youkai are the ones at actual risk because if you're already a monster or an undead, you don't get to become a double ghost when you die. You just go poof.

>The youkai are the ones at actual risk because if you're already a monster or an undead, you don't get to become a double ghost when you die

Actually they do, it was explained in SoPM I believe, when a youkai dies they become vengeful spirits.

And youkai are not very likely to die since they regenerate their bodies after a while if attacked by physical attacks.

I remember reading that even if a youkai is torn apart they will be back fairly soon

Well, just saying the fear of death is still a thing in a place like Gensokyou.

Komachi said if any dead person can beat her then she wouldn't be able to ferry that person across, therefore he/she becomes immortal.

Shiki is too busy to go collect souls by herself.

Sorry, I just reread SoPM a bit to confirm this but I was wrong.

>"Even if I die I'll just be reborn, and if I can't be reborn I'll be fine as a phantom." That's their line of reasoning. Rather than that, what they're scared of is their existence being denied completely.

As it turns out youkai are actually deadly afraid of vengeful spirits because they are able to deny a youkais existence as explained in here

>>12219674
Komachi also said that people view attaining immortality as unnatural, and something only a morally bankrupt person would attempt.
As for Akyuu :
1. Isn't she supposed to last at least until she's 30? So that's about 10 more years, right? How come Akyuu aged normally but the rest of the cast didn't?
2. Doesn't Akyuu utterly despise Youkai, and see them as a threat to the Human Village? Like, in FS19, she explodes at Kosuzu and launches in this insane rant about how Youkai are pure evil and must be kept out of the Village at all costs and Kosuzu is a fool for sympathising with them after Kosuzu is all "That kitsune only drew graffiti, and we're talking about executing it for that? It would appear the children don't think the graffiti are anything to be afraid of, which Reimu chalks up to their "youthful innocence, so unwary of the danger around them". Akyuu, however, is sick with worry : obviously, the kitsune is posing as one of the schoolchildren, yet they can't warn anybody of the danger, for fear the panic could cause an innocent child's blood to be spilled as they try to sort out the kitsune's identity. Kosuzu notes that the Kitsune only graffitied what appears to be notes from the day's classes, and maybe it's immune to Reimu's ofuda because those only work on evil youkai, and it's not actually evil? Akyuu goes all "WHAT!? YOU DARE SIDE WITH THE YOUKAI!?" and Kosuzu says that her research seems to indicate the more human a youkai appears, the more human it acts. Akyuu then yells at Kosuzu that the RULE OF GENSOKYO is that Human and Youkai are mortal enemies, and BALANCE depends on their neverending battle. Later, Kosuzu offers "SPECIAL LEGENDARY OUTSIDE-WORLD OFUDA THAT ALWAYS WORK" to a skeptical Reimu, while thinking that in fact, those aren't ofuda at all, but secret Kitsune code on post-it notes. The "ofuda" work, and Akyuu is overjoyed to note the graffiti seem to be permanently gone (after only 3 days), noting that Reimu was given all the credit due to "riding off in the sunset" (ie stomping off angrily, butthurt that Kosuzu solved the incident and that she couldn't catch the Kitsune and expose its true form). Akyuu goes all "How could I ever have doubted you, MY BEST FRIEND" right on cue for the transformed Kitsune to come in and take a few notebooks from Kosuzu. Kosuzu then explains the secret code was her telling the Kitsune she would give it notebooks for free, as it was only drawing on the walls due to being too poor to afford any other writing materials to take note with during Keine's classes

Also, there's a huge difference between accepting that youkai have a place in the world (including dealing professionally with them) and being friends with them.

The worst thing is probably being friends with them to the extent that you forget that you're human and they're youkai. Nothing good can come from this. Akyuu has enough memories to know that this never ends well and is trying to warn Kosuzu before it's too late.

Remember: Ichirin became a youkai simply by association. And that's the "good end" to people who become friends with youkai. The more common bad end is that you end up killed.

Seiga is a wicked hermit, instead of reaching enlightenment, she cheats death by substituting her death by another object, thereby tricking the system to think that she's dead and she herself can live off as long as she will.

This is kinda hard to understand, it's very abstract concept so I'm gonna elaborate further

In chinese mythology, everyone have a mortality table, and your death is actually predestined, Seiga actually achieves her immortality by switching her place with an object (could be an idol, doll, even bamboo piece) to make the table thinks it's Seiga, so Seiga can escape from the circle of mortality.

That or she uses life prolong medicine, but due to magical ability I think the former way is more probable.

No, they all did the object-switch trick - that's what a shikaisen is. The guys upstairs might grumble a little at being tricked, but they're okay with it as long as you use your extended lifespan to do greater amounts of good (some shikaisen even work for them directly).

Seiga's called a wicked hermit because she uses her extended lifespan to do greater amounts of EVIL.

Vampires were originally a sort of demonic possession. It still exists in rural areas. Vampires can possess food. There are special rituals to dispose of vampiric food.

All I know is that Dracula got one part right, to kill a vampire, find its corpse and cut off the head and stab the heart.

A colleague in archeology worked on a site on one of the cyclades where they were digging up a real "vampire." He basically said that the original mythology was that they just basically played tricks on a village.

I was keep asking whether Miko and Futo are also wicked hermit since I though they used the SAME METHOD as Seiga thought them with cheating death and shit which I already know, but you answered with the same goddamn answer twice (you said that phrase 3 times) and missed the point.

This >>12223201 answered my question better.

Also, if they died without getting a spouse, they'd chase around the prettiest girl/most handsome guy in town like a stalker zombie.

Over here they used to hold "marriage ceremonies" for the recently dead so that they wouldn't come back. We also leave a knife on their bellies since metal also prevents them from rising.
