Hey /jp/ what can a neet do to be more productive? What is something I can learn or make some money as a neet?

You can either do something fun and creative like art and music, but it's very doubtful you'll make any money from it.
Or you can do something boring and soul sucking like playing the stock markets, purely for jew gold

You aren't going to make any money the first few >>years<< you pick up any skill. You can try searching any of the creative boards for ideas but whatever you choose you have to commit to it like a heart beating and not waste any time. In other words have a strong work ethic and enjoy the learning process.

Fundamentally you need to learn an actually useful skill and stop being NEET. Technically there are things you could do without leaving the house like SEO, but the only way you're really going to get anything out of that is through blackhat techniques that are questionable or outright illegal, and again when you add up the hours of effort spent developing those skills and practising them you would probably have been better off working minimum wage flipping burgers or something.

Programming is an obvious possibility. You do need some limited ability to talk to people and work in teams, but you'll find that at any decent company people mostly just focus on their work and don't talk to each other because i)programming demands that sort of focus and ii)all good programmers are at least slightly autistic / obsessive. It's likely you'll be able to work remotely from home at least now and then.

Also if you look into this I'd suggest Python as your first language. It's not that hard to get started with, has a huge community with code samples everywhere and is an actually useful and quite powerful language. C# and C++ later, make sure you learn C++11 / 13 though which improved the language a lot.

Python is a terrible idea as a first language. It encourages too many bad habits and will make it too hard to transition to a real language with strong typing and sane syntax.

Learn C#, Java, or C++ first. Python makes it too easy to dust your mistakes under the rug. It's a beginners' language, but does quite poorly at it.

I'd say it has to be something that can be run in a procedural / interpreted fashion, so there's less hassle to get to the "hello world" stage and you get somewhat friendly error messages. My first serious foray into programming was with Perl but Perl 6 = being released at the same time as S&W S3 and it can't be denied that Python has a huge community and examples all over stackoverflow etc.

Beyond being "something interpreted" it doesn't actually matter though. Being a good programmer is about developing general skills, sure you'll probably have to specialise into a couple of languages later but by that point you should be able to pick up the fundamentals of any language in a couple of weeks (inb4 aspies pointing out the existence of counterexamples like Malbolge etc.)

Depends. Did you learn the language? You can try translating stuff for money.
You can try poker. Some discipline and risk managment is all you need. this however is time consuming and very repetitive/boring.
Web design is also an option.
You can try being admin/moderator/newsmaker in a forum or mmo. But their payments is abysmall.

The "classic" texts you see mentioned all the time are still good but I do wish Meyers would stop being a lazy faggot and update his books properly rather than just releasing a supplementary "lol btw here's the new language features that completely change how you should code" PDF.

Scott Meyers:
- Effective C++ Third Edition
- More Effective C++

Herb Sutter:
- Exceptional C++

Cline, Lonow, Girou:
- C++ FAQs (whatever the latest edition is)

If you need to do high concurrency stuff then
Anthony Williams
- C++ Concurrency in Action - Practical Multithreading

I've got Josuttis' "The C++ Standard Library" doorstop too, technically it's good but honestly I basically never read it, you can mostly just look that shit up online, so it's questionable if it's worth the considerable asking price.

The programmers == caffeine addicts thing is largely true, and occasionally I'll augment that with piracetam and modafinil, but you have to be very careful about using *anything* as a crutch. You need to eat an overall healthy balanced diet, there's no shortcuts I'm afraid. Chances are high that like most people you eat way, WAY too many carbs and should mostly be eating complete proteins + veggies + healthy fats instead. 99% of supplements are a scam but ones actually worth taking as a man are cod liver oil and zinc.

If you insist on pharmaceuticals *as well*, try piracetam and/or choline and DMAE, but they won't do much good if your diet is otherwise awful and you consequently have the testosterone count of a 70 year old.

Stop being skinnyfat. In practice that means eating right, lifting heavy things (by your standards,) then lifting heavier things once you get stronger (there's a fairly rapid increase in the first month or so if you keep it up known as "noob gains" which is nice.) Again, this is something that /fit/ can help you more with than this board. I don't say that it will be easy, but I do say that it will work.

It doesn't help that official government nutritional advice is still pretty bad, the grain-heavy food pyramid is largely a result of 70's agricultural lobbying. For example the only acceptable breakfast foods for a man are eggs, bacon, or maybe porridge oats with some berries if you're bulking. That's JUST eggs and bacon, not with a shitload of bread and sugary sauce.

Fun fact, there's zero connection between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol - although there is to saturated fat, so yes obviously you can take it to ridiculous extremes, and there's an unfortunate contingent of internet nerds that do that with bacon in particular.
>Hmm, if bacon is manly then surely eating enough to feed 6 people whilst doing no exercise whatsoever will basically make me a lumberjack

I've repeatedly said a *balanced* diet, but men especially really do need healthy fats and dietary cholesterol, the latter being an important precursor to testosterone.

>>12215382
About equal parts truth and bullshit. Basically if you want to resemble an ATTRACTIVE girl and not a hungry skeleton, more and heavier weight training is needed even for this goal. People are irrationally terrified of "bulking up" and just wanting to "tone" but there's no such thing, attractive curves = some muscle development and core strength is needed.

(Moreover the goal is dubious at best, a lot of trannies are unhappy and kill themselves, and part of that is that men need testosterone to feel good / have confidence / be able to socialize etc.)

The market's probably tougher in the US but self-study actually does count for something in this field, since the only programmers that are ever any good are the ones that spent their free time doing it for fun. Build things you can show employers, contribute to open source projects, do CodeAcademy challenges and so on.
