that place's mostly villages, sealed off from the outside world for ages and guarded by yukari to prevent any progress or modernization, do they even know what a suit is? you don't need a suit to work on the fields or do any traditional villager job.

now back to your fields and cows, peasants.

Just pointing out that you wouldn't be completely ostracized as an outsider.

I think Gensokyo natives are smart enough to recognize a trapped outsider and would be more sympathetic than jeering, and there would be fellow outsiders there as well.

>> No.1222078

>>1222040
yeah, possible. but still, you'd have to live there. to live you need to eat.

since it'd be almost like you got transported over 100 years back into the past, your job selection would be extremely limited. i mean, what jobs can you get in a backwater village of past, other than farming, physical labor, or selling food and other stuff?

either way you still wouldn't be wearing a suit, especially if you're antisocial like mokou and prefer to stay away from human settlements, either hunting/farming your food or stealing it.

that said, all this discussion over some stupid non-canon fanart by a moon guy who doesn't understand how villages worked in the past is kinda silly.

Well, you ARE probably knowledgeable if you were paying attention in school to useful things that could apply to them, especially things we take for granted like sanitation (specifically to water supplies), deficiency diseases, other kinds of things

Not saying wouldn't have to "work" but I'm sure modern knowledge would be a useful and appreciated commodity (though you would have had to pay attention in school instead of just taking modern things for granted)

>> No.1222148

>>Not saying wouldn't have to "work" but I'm sure modern knowledge would be a useful and appreciated commodity

little things like sanitary stuff sure, though some would be impossible to do, due to lack of electricity.

but trying to introduce large corporations and stuff like that which would attempt to rob the people of their traditions and turn them into mindless robots would just end like sa did when kanako tried to modernize gensokyo.

i mean, yay, they would get electricity, which by itself has no use for them. someone makes lightbulbs, yay they have light now. then they're forced to pay a lot for it, and someone would have to oversee the power plants.

fuck that, that's what candles are for, and were for the last 1000s of years, so why go against tradition now? they're cheap, they do their job, and night is for sleeping so that you can wake up the next day to work on your fields anyway.

I think Hydroelectricity is pushing it. That requires a solid knowledge of metal working. Its highly unlikely that Gensokyo has the tools necessary to make wires, for example.
The right way to start would be to make watermills. All you need is carpentry, and you can teach the villagers how to easily grind their rice into flour, make bread, etc.

Going back on target slightly:

Why would Keine be the stay-at-home part of the partnership? I mean, she's already got a job, being the (only?) head teacher for the humans of Gensokyo. A vastly more important job than running a yakitori stand. Frankly, it'd make more sense for them both to work, or for Mokou to stay home and (badly) maintain the household.

But, I suppose, Japan, outdated views on duties in the household, women expected to quit their job and be a homemaker, etc etc.
