Hey, /jp/ is it possible to get a job in Japan? Like, say you're minoring in Japanese, would you be able to land a job pertaining to that degree in Japan or would you have to suffer being an english teacher forever?

Hell, will there even be any teaching jobs in Japan in 10 years?

would a japanese minor help me do a japanese minor

Since you are competing with Japanese native speakers you would probably need skills that exceed those of the other applicants to make up for your language knowledge. You will also probably need to still need decent japanese skills to communicate with other workers/ your boss, since they definitely are going to speak japanese.

I went to grad school for a STEM subject in Japan for two years then got a good job along with my peers. I had JLPT N1 before enrolling though.

I already have an engineering BS.
If I want to get a job in Japan, is my best bet to first master Japanese well enough to pass the N1 and then apply for a grad program in Japan?

Yeah, that's the best way I think. I have no idea about your age or current work history so I can't say anything more though. Try to get into the most prestigious university possible, apply to MEXT, etc.

Put email in the email field if you want to discuss this further

Do you see many English major immigrants coming to America or the UK?

They don't want people that can just speak their own language, that's the bare minimum. They want people with useful degrees and skills.
