Invading and killing people is fun, even in DKS2 (early soul memory at least, fuck soul memory). Dueling and the arenas are garbage though. Same builds everywhere you go, and everyone heals in the arena so there's no point.

DKS2 screwed the pooch on formal pvp. I really liked fight clubs and stuff in DKS, but that shit won't fly as long as we have soul memory.

I don't disagree with you, though. I just want an infinite invasion orb so I don't have to get/buy more cracked ones. I'm sure they'll conveniently re-add them in the season pass DLC...

Being Saber now would be even better than in DKS, because of those hidden weapon rings. The spell version is cute but ultimately useless. They absolutely fucked up the braided hair in DKS2, in my opinion. If you used it now, you wouldn't look anything like Saber...

Allow me to make a rather controversial suggestion. Soul Memory is shit, we all know it. Luckily with the way the game is coded soul memory is an insanely easy value to hack and edit.

I don't endorse cheating, but with all the problems this stupid little number is making, I don't see any problem with just hacking to the most active SM bracket. Especially if you keep your SL at 125 or whatever the PvP community decides. Its certainly easier then making a whole new character, and still pretty fair as far as balance is concerned.

I played Dark Souls 2 non-stop for about 500 hours in the weeks following its release

It was kind of sad. They clearly stopped developing it so they could work for their new 80% shareholder.

I never found a weapon setup better than powerstanced helix halberds in all of those 500 hours. They made strength weapons worthless, and the new rolls and across-the-board swing speed increases made it impossible to punish things you should be able to punish. The game clearly had publisher pressure to make it more casual-friendly, judging from how completely they gimped invasions.

I only learnt about that today actually. I've only ever used the one-handed rolling attack and the two-handed charge since the swings were pretty useless with their long animation windup and short range.
