Yes. Note that I also can't form a sentence in Japanese and I was ALONE.

I went there on my last night in tokyo, just in case something went horribly wrong so I wouldn't become "Spills-scolding-hot-tea-and-ruin-girls-face-Sama" or something.

I was unsure if I even remotely wanted to go to one, but I ended up doing it cause there were ninja girls handing out fliers for their shinobi-themed cafe, and that sounded much more fun and less embarrassing for myself. Like many shops in Akihabara, this one was up a suspicious looking flight of steps to the third floor of a random building. Upon walking through the door, I was in a claustrophobic, windowless room and greeted by the staff, who were girls mostly covered from head to toe in ninja-garb, including masks to cover their face which I thought was hilarious.

I asked if my English was going to be a problem, to which I was told by one of the girls "ENGLISH, OKAY!!" I was then seated by my waitress named "Asumi." As expected, not a single one of them spoke English, but by god did they try and it was fucking adorable. Every time my waitress fucked up her English, she covered her face and went "OOOH NOOOOO!!!". They frequently used their phone to try and translate things. I was able to pick up a couple things, like when I heard her use "doko" in a sentence, I could tell she was trying to ask me where I come from. I tried to understand what was on their menu, but none of us were getting a word through to each other, so I just said "ramen" which worked. When they brought my drink out, I was signaled to do a mystical ninja chant with them while doing gay naruto hands to bless my ginger-ale with ninpo. I had to shout "VIMI VIMI VIMI VIMI!!" 3 times along with my Asumi, after which she clapped at me while jumping up and down going "YAAAY!!".

When my food came, they randomly switched waitresses on me, so now I was with "Bambi" My 19 dollar bowl of ramen came. I started eating and it was really mediocre. Not only that, but since you're basically paying for a cute girl to accompany you while you eat, there I was with Bambi just silently standing there waiting to somehow interact with me while I'm too focused on my food like some sort of awful dinner date.

To commemorate my final evening and get the full maid-cafe experience, I paid for a souvenir photo with the one of the girls. Bambi brought out another menu with the price to take a photo with each girl. Ironically they all varied greatly in price, despite every one of them nearly decked out in burqa. I wanted to have my picture taken with Asumi who greeted me, but not before finding out that costs 1500 yen, so I settled with my current waitress, Bambi, who was a respectable 500.

With a fucking 5500 yen bill under my belt (charged extra for being with the GIRLS for longer cause I actually finished my food), I was finally ready to leave. While descending down the stairs, every single one of the girls peered around the corner of the door like cartoon characters stacked ontop of each other and shouted "GOOD BYYEEE!"

It was really cute and kinda fun, but good god I'd never do it again holy shit.

Sounds a bit like my experience at a maid cafe. It was much cheaper though. 2500 yen for food, drink, desert and a photo with one of the maids.

It was also located in a backalley of sorts, had to sit in school benches when me and my friend entered and was handed papers with the rules in english (no touching etc) while a girl in teacher cosplay stood and watched us.

Once we were done there we could order, I chose omurice and the girl asked what she should draw with ketchup, and of course the chanting over the drink. They even had a little live performance while we ate and this older gentleman in a corner had glowsticks that he started waving around. Very cliche.

It was an interesting and awkward experience.

my first time at one in akiba i got to sing and dance with the maids while they did their singing thing, was invited over to sit with a group of japanese and converse for half an hour after two of the girls kept saying "kawaii" over a hundred times when they saw my food, got pictures with my maid and another with the group of japanese, got a seperate personalized polaroid from my maid, and then the group of japanese bought me a maid calendar before we went our seperate ways
the food at the cafes is pretty meh but the maids and the customers are fun!

We are all wasting our lives here and throwing away the little time we have left day by day.
This will never change, no one here will ever amount to anything and we will all die without having fulfilled our dreams.

What are some fun things to see/do in Tokyo?
Only thing I can see I'd find particularly interesting is Akihabara and the fish market.

Maybe in a few years.

I have other, more important, costs to worry about right now, but I am always putting away a little bit for my travel plan. I've got a bit over 2k right now.

I can't say I'm interested in Pokémon.
Thanks for the tip, though.
(crossboarder, not usually from /jp/)

I see a lot of people telling me I could spend much more time in Tokyo, but none can come with any things to do there except for one or two things, and they're usually small things that can be done in a couple of hours.

Maid-Cafe dude here. Shibuya alone was an all day thing for me. You can also go see Harajuku (on Sunday in particular). I spent a lot of time just wandering around every day, going into random restaurants and shops. Although it's not Kyoto, Tokyo has it's own array of large, beautiful shrines and temples worth seeing.

My hotel was incidentally less than half a mile from Akihabara which I pretty much walked through everyday and played arcades and looked figures/2hu merch, so if you're a weeblord, you'll probably never run out of things to do there, otherwise you might get bored of it in a day.

Also PLEASE go up the Tokyo Skytree at night. It's 3000 yen to the top, but it's well worth the view.

Thanks a lot for the advice.
I'm not too much into the whole anime/2hu thing.
I do like anime and I watch a couple of series every season, but I don't think that Maid-Cafés and the like panders to the kind of anime I watch, haha..

Thanks a lot for the advice, will definitely look into visiting Tokyo Skytree at night, I actually imagined a lot worse than 3000 yen, heh.

Cheers.

>How do i japan alone?
Buy a passport then a plane ticket, then cram a bunch of words and phrases.

>backpack?
That's what I did, but I made sure to drop it off at my hotel ASAP the moment I got to a new city.

>where to stay?
Wherever you can afford/what evers close to public transport or what you want to see/has wifi.

>how to long?
However long you want, as long as it's under 90 days I suppose.

>how to travel?
Train and subway.

Probably a silly question but how much time can one spend eating and shopping.

>steal
stealing would mean the company no longer has the game or rights to it. for example, snagging a copyright from them so they can't produce or sell it anymore would be an actual theft.

downloading a game off the internet is more like walking up to a painting in a museum and taking a high quality photo of it. you now have your own copy and don't have to pay the artist/museum for the right to see it again.
