Except it doesn't. Kanon's corpse only vanished in ep 2 and 4 Shannon only commits suicide at ep2 which is confirmed by Battler.
The bigger red herring is Lambda's mention that when one dies, the other vanishes, which is an almost sure confirmation that they are one and the same.
Ep 1, Shannon ''dies'' yet Kanon stays alive but later dies (fakes being dead but whatever).
Ep 2, Kanon ''dies'' yet Shannon stays alive and later dies.
Ep 3, both of them die at the start.
Ep 4, both die at the same time
Ep 5, neither of them die.

Nowhere is it possible to notice that when one dies, the other one immediately vanishes, like Lambda suggest.
There is no way to interpret it other than a red herring or as a literal fashion that never actually happens anyone in any of the games.

Also, after all the murders are completed, Beatrice revives.
If Shannon dies, like she does in ep 2, she cannot meet Battler dressed as Beatrice.

Ep 3 also makes no sense considering that Maria plainly states that if anyone finds the gold, the game automatically ends, no matter if Yasu knows about it or not. Beatrice herself says that risk is needed for magic to happen. If there is no risk, there is no magic. So if someone finds the gold and the murders continue, it defeats the purpose of a risk. Not to mention Beatrice wants to get caught which is why she taunts people to find the gold. Yasu would have noticed Eva and Rosa leaving the family housing if everyone was camped there. It's stupid to suggest that Yasu was not keeping an eye on the only building where everyone was at and didn't notice two adults leaving one after another.

And if it was Eva that killed everyone, it brings forward the web of red truth by Eva on who killed Nanjo is Yasu stops killing.
Not to mention the first twilight of ep 3 being impossible for Shannon to get into the Chapel and lock the door from the inside using the chapel key.

The Higurashi arc will focus on Hanyuu's clan apparently.

Rika mentions in Higurashi that Hanyuu's clan came to Hinamizawa a long time ago which drove the villagers paranoid. Hanyuu changed the way she looked but only kept the horns. So it's likely that she didn't look human at all. Rika also says that no one knows how they got there, be it by ship, traveling through dimensions or some other unknown way. So there may be some truth to the alien conspiracy by Takano but it might just be a coincidence.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get mention that Hanyuu's clan came from the M37 cluster in the next Higurashi arc and one of the locations in the next WtC takes place in the M37 cluster with characters mentioning that old gods or aliens lived here or something. And that they are cursing the place.

Not to mention possibly seeing the gang again would be great.

After Eva figures it out, Rosa follows her and both find the gold and then go back to the hose..What purpose does Eva and Rosa have to keep the secret to themselves if Shannon is not even in the damn house to monitor them?
Are you saying that there is more chances of Shannon somehow getting into the small family guest house, hiding and waiting until someone says that they found the gold, but impossible to notice from the outside two adults walking towards the chapel?
Shannon has nothing to do after the first twilight and everyone is in a single location. She just has to wait for a chance to kill someone and the entire fucking family that is either in the same room or in the cousin room watching TV.
How in the world did Shannon miss two adults leaving the guest house? Was she busy in the mansion? Why wasn't she keeping an eye on them? What a load of
convenience. How hard is it to keep an eye on an entire house, either from the inside or the outside?

I'd wager it's a red herring but not a coincidence. I'd go so far to say that it's impossible to actually see or have both of them in the same room at all. The game itself doesn't allow it.
Shannon and Kanon not appearing in the same room is very like to be rule Z.
Similar to the three XYZ rules in Higurashi, Umineko has the same rules as the culprit is given a wish by Lambda. Hints of the rules are detailed by Bernkastel's in her diary in the TIPS.

In ep 7, when Will sees Shannon and asks if she can bring Kanon here with Shannon so they can solve the mystery together. Shannon acts all creepy and says that ''a higher power is telling her to say that it's impossible''. It's like telling your opponent that he would go in checkmate the next move. It's either the author/Featherine or the game itself refusing the possibility of the two of them coming together.
If Shannon and Kanon are one and the same, wouldn't it be a checkmate for Shannon since she would Yasu, not Will's checkmate? Either way, the point I'm making is that Shannon and Kanon absolutely cannot be placed in a room together or the universe itself might shut down. Breaking one of the rules is something that cannot be done, it is needed to have the Umineko gameboard stable.
The presence of Kanon and Shannon being one body or different is a catbox by rule Z.
For example, what if Kanon did come out and got together with Shannon in front of Will? It would break the catbox as it would have been open.
Or if we find out that they are both a single person? Whether the answer goes one side or another, we cannot have both of them together other than in front of servants or in a meta scene. Forcing the issue makes the game crash, like it almost did for Will, or it simply doesn't happen.

Genji cannot lock the door for Shannon.
Let's illustrate the scene of the first Twilight in ep3.
The family breaks into the family parlor and finds Shannon. They find the key and go in the loop which ends with the Chapel and find Kanon. The Chapel is found to be locked. Genji could not have happened since he's dead, Shannon needed to do this on her own. The family went together from room to room so no one can help her lock the door.

Not only that but only the key to the Chapel can lock the door of the Chapel. It says so in red.
Not to mention the red that says that there aren't any autolock. Irrelevant but it just means that you need to lock the door with a key from the outside.

So Shannon had to go from the Parlor, into the Chapel and somehow lock the door of the Chapel with the Chapel key. How is that possible? Not to mention the Chapel key is found in the Boiling room which is also locked. No one else has a key other than Shannon and the family kept the keys on them when they went from room to room.
Shannon had to lock the door of the Chapel from the inside using the Chapel key and somehow have the Chapel key placed into the Boiler room.

We know that the Chapel was locked since it fits within the other rooms that Beatrice dubbed ''Beatrice's closed room definition''. It would not be like the other rooms if it was not locked.
And the answer to how it happened was confirmed by Ryukishi to be what Battler said since he made such an overcomplicated puzzle and laughed at giving the solution for all the trouble the culprit did to move the bodies. Someone placed the key onto Kanon and faked the loop.

Static Accomplices: Kumasawa, Nanjo, Genji, Maria (sort of).

Ep 1 Accomplices: Eva and Hideyoshi. After being blackmailed into concealing Yasu's existence they meet with Yasu and are killed by Yasu.

Ep 2 Accomplices: Rosa and Gohda. Used to conceal Yasu's identity, Shannon commits suicide after murder to create the final closed room. Genji, Battler, Rosa, and Maria are all killed by the explosion.

Cute but it runs into the problem on how Nanjo was killed at the end, if we agree that Yasu stopped her murders we the gold was found.

It becomes impossible for Eva to kill Nanjo. We fall into the web of red again and it becomes impossible to pin Eva at the end.

Look through the story and Bern did not accomplish a single one of her goals (beaten by Battler nonetheless; a fact that will always shame her), and the only time she ever came close was when she had Auau~'s help. Lambda managed to both help Beato succeed and kill her, despite those being contradictory goals. Ange remarks that Lambda was on a whole different level than Bern and Beato. Also, Lambda's game board was very challenging, while Bern thought Battler was close with the small bombs theory. I mention the logic skills because the fight was made up of throwing universes at each other, and we can only assume that they are fighting over the details in this.

But on the other hand, the longer the game goes on, Bern's chance of winning only goes up. Until then she just has to get a stalemate at the least. Another thing Bern has in her advantage is autism. She has no problem doing exhaustive searches of the sea of fragments to find worlds just to enact petty revenge. Lambda doesn't do this even once. Bern retrieves Battler's body, finds Ange, finds Erika, finds the path to the gold, finds Lion out of a millions of worlds.... The only time Lambda leaves is to go raid Featherine's library. She isn't cut out for that kind of tedium. She lost to an 11yo who played the waiting game without even knowing it until she gave up. Lambda is far out of her league here.

By EP8, Ryukishi had wrote himself into a corner and said "Fuck it all!" in the end. Some things were obvious from the get-go, like crippled hobo Battler ending or some other character was writing the story (while simultaneously breaking the fourth wall), but a lot of authors in fiction tend to forget to that execution is a very important aspect of writing. Ryukishi's delivery was horrible and rushed.

There's a reason why Umineko is considered the Code Geass of VNs. The core arcs have some sort direction but it all goes down the shitter past EP5--or arguably EP4 with the introduction of Ange. Umineko is also very entry-level tier.

For anyone who hasn't read Umineko, just read it and decide for yourself if it is good or not. I don't understand all these people trying to convince everyone else that the show gets shittier/is shit. I really don't.

Go to any VN community and ask them for recommendations and Umineko will be right near the top more often than not, and it is there for a reason. And yeah the 8th episode got shit ratings (actually 55/100 is still above average), but not because it was bad. Some people just hated the answers when they finally got them.

Personally I kind of wish I had read the entire thing a bit slower, I finished it a few months ago and had nothing to stop me from blowing through it all at once except for the extremely long time it takes to read it all. By the start of episode 7 I had two theories on who Beatrice was and still had not figured out that both were right. Dat unreliable narrator man. If I had a month between each episode I know I could have solved it by episode 5 at the very latest. I did solve the epitaph in episode 5 though, despite not knowing how to read japanese.

Also I would say it is worth downloading it at least for the music alone. I have a playlist with many of my favorite tracks from Umineko and I have a lot of favorites.
