I'm trying to reinstall Remember11 onto my new computer but every time I try to hit the install button, it closes the window. I'm running Windows 7 but it worked fine on my old XP. I have it on Japanese locale and other .iso files worked fine too (for reference, I installed Ever17 and Input/Output without a hitch). Any ideas on how I can solve this?

r11 is actually next on my list of classic VNs I haven't gotten around to reading yet. good luck OP, can't help you on your problem except just making sure everything was uninstalled first.

Try this
Right click > Run as administrator
If it fails do this
Right click > Properties > Compatibility
Select it to run for Windows XP
Hope this will do it.

The where to ask? /g/?
Have you been there lately? I swear 4Chan is getting worse by the day cause of all these neofags.
The point of different boards is specialization, let's say someone from /int/ came to us asking for advice about a specific things won't we help him?

While I was about to do that, I decided to explore the .iso and found a solution by running setup.exe instead of Autorun. Weird problem but oh well, I found the solution. Thanks anyway.

With that out of the way, I'll just let the remaining life span of the thread asking for VN recommendations since my library is small.

Have played:
Ever17
Zero Escape
Radical Dreamers
Tsukihime
Umineko
Phoenix Wright

Current:
Remember11 (finished it once, getting the other endings)

Want to play:
Steins;Gate
Chaos;Head

What would I like?

It really sort of depends what you're looking for and I find listing Radical Dreamers to be really odd.

Recommendations

1) Cross Channel, Ixrec Translation. This is the best visual novel. The George Henry Shaft translation should only be read later if you want to do some deeper analysis of it. But Cross Channel is the best visual novel that is translated. The protagonist can be polarizing but this VN is amazing.

2) Muv-Luv Alternative. You have to read Muv-Luv Extra first which is sort of a drag, but it's different than everything else you're reading (since Tsukihime is basically the closest thing you read to a game about pursuing girls). Alternative changes everything and is a great story, but you need to read Extra first.

3) Fate Stay/Night. Read this a bit later since many characters in Tsukihime are sort of prototypes for FSN characters. However, it's a lengthy and good read.

4) Drakoi. It's extremely short and will break up your pattern of reading extremely lengthy things that carefully set up some big reveals. The pacing of Drakoi is sort of a nice break from everything you're reading.

5) Steins; Gate. It's a great story but save it for a bit later. Also, be sure to watch Hyouuin Kyouma's scene in the anime, as well as an animated version of the ending, both are priceless.

6) Seiken no Inganock. This goes an entirely different direction from what you've been reading and I think that's good.

7) Demonbane. The writing style of this is gorgeous, the plot moves fast, and it's good.

As for Chaos; Head-- I hated the protagonist so much the entire time. He is an awful character. The story itself is also not really that great as a whole, but there are good parts. There's way too many random ass-pulls for it to really make much sense. I give it a 6/10.

Cross Channel is very good but I wouldn't say it's the best one. As for GHS - I'm still not sure whether he is a genius or an idiot. One can interpret CC this way but I can't shake off the feeling he is reading too deeply into what Tanaka wrote

Why is it odd?
