I've got 8 or 9 dakis, most are Chinese bootlegs, a few are official. I just hang them up for decoration. Pic related is the only one I keep on my bed. Cost about 100 bucks to get the limited edition DVD box it came with. I got a second one off Rakuten by itself for 40. Gives me peace of mind that if, god forbid something happens to her, I've not lost her. I've slept with her for around 4 or 5 years now, best decision I ever made.

If you got the money, just go for the legit or large circle-produced stuff. I think it's supposed to be the same material, 2-way tricot, but the one I got from Dakemakura is so fucking soft compared to my Hobbyheart.

Anyways, another alternative would probably be to fill the pillow up with spelt or millet, since those grains don't slip around as much as those styrofoam balls.
My regular pillow (50x80) has spelt filling, and is huggable just fine. But not sure how many liters (or kg??) I'd need to fill a 150x50cm daki and how heavy it might be in the end.

Finally got my daki after it sat in customs for days. Overall quality seems pretty good, it feels rather smooth. It's a bit thin, but that's not that big of a deal. Seems durable. I picked up a really nice 2-way tricot Homura daki in some time ago from the Cospa in Akiba. I never really planned on getting a daki, but when I felt the material I was impressed enough that I handed over my cash.

It's stayed on my bed much of the time, and I really appreciate it because I quite like spooning but don't necessarily have women over too often, so the pillow can act as a suitable replacement on those nights.

Bit of a problem I've noticed recently, it's starting to get a sittle bit of sweat discolouration right at the top, where my head makes contact with it. It's kinda disgusting, especially if it gets any worse, so I'm looking to find some method of fixing it. I haven't had much success with most cleaning products I've used while hand-washing it. Has anyone successfully navigated through this problem and can share their wisdom? Is dry cleaning perhaps an option?

I bought mine with the cover in the Coaspa in Akiba. It was supertight vaccuum sealed so I didn't take it out to put the cover on until I got back from Japan, in fact I took the bag on the plane as carry on. After trying a bunch of alternative fillings in between the time I bought it and the time I got back and actually used it, I can say with confidence don't think anything else would be quite as nice as the pillow that it's designed to work with.

I machine wash all my dakis at 60 degrees, normal laundry with color-friendly stuff and Comfort softener. Hang-dry. They dont lose colors or anything. Bootleg two-way tricots from hobbyheart, originals imported from japan made by COSPA etc. People are too paranoid about washing them, hygiene is important. I wash all of my seven once a week with the rest of my bedstuffs.

Seconding this. I want to commission an artist but I'm a filthy gaijin that can't speak japanese (so not much luck at pixiv), and I can't find any good english-speaking artists that do this sort of thing for the life of me (deviantart and tumblr both out). Where do you look? Did you just happen to be following an artist you liked already? I don't really follow artists, so I have no one to go-to and I'm not really sure where to start. There seems like so much crap to go through for a slim chance of find a good artist that will take commissions.

I have a blue collar job and my skin is rough on fingers and feet. My nails are often chipped and my skin will usually be host to metal shavings that I've stopped noticing a long time ago.

i don't know how i feel about recommending specific artists on 4chan but i do definitely think you should try opening a thread with some details about your commission. you can probably find my thread on the front page of their art requests section. within about a week's time i got a fair few PMs and even if you don't like the art style of the people who PM'd you sometimes you can convince them to do a quick preliminary character sketch to test them out before you decide to commission them. some obviously don't believe in doing free artwork (even simple sketches) and that's just simple business for them.

on a side note, my final commission price was 180$ and the artist said that it was partly because he sympathized with my financial situation, otherwise he'd charge more. i thought the guy did a fantastic job on the sketch and i was more than happy to pay that though.
