Someone good at martial arts could probably take down someone with a gun easily as long they don't choke. Well, the circumstances have to be 1v1 and the gun still has to be in a holster/not drawn. A distance of roughly 20~ feet can be easily closed in the time it takes for someone to draw a gun. Then again,it really depends on who makes the first move.

So yeah, not very useful I guess? I remember reading somewhere that if a police officer approaches someone without their gun drawn and the hostile person approaches with a knife,a distance of at least 26~ feet is needed to draw the gun, shoot, then not get stabbed.

I still try to figure out how exactly the style of spell card duel seen in the fighting games is supposed to mesh with the rest of the setting. Like it seems to be a different subset of the rules compared to whats seen in all the other canon material.

The whole idea of the rules being that it creates an even field of play so that theoretically anyone could defeat anyone else, isn't it? While the whole fighting-game style of duel we see in the fighters seems to kinda throw that out the window by being so based on physical combat, while having nowhere near as many pattern-based attacks as the shooters.
